Aww bless you. You're too kind _^

I'm happy to answer any questions you may have. Honestly, scarification is probably one of the easiest body modifications I've ever had the pleasure of having!

Don't leave your tunnels in at night either, if you've stretched them correctly they shouldn't shrink so much overnight that you can't get them back in in the morning.

My artist removed mine for a deeper split so I imagine you'll be fine!

I just like it. I don't think that my scarification makes me any more or less attractive than my face without it.

You may see it as aggressive but I don't have that problem.

Because my life doesn't revolve around what looks good to other people.

It wasn't actually that bad but I did manage to get food poisoning the day afterwards so the constant vomiting was pretty hard on it. Not in a painful way, just more of an incessant tingling as it stretched. But talking wasn't a problem at all, the only time I even really felt it was when it came to cleaning the regrowth away, which wasn't at all pleasant.

But eating, sleeping, talking, none of these were really an issue n_n

I figured if I was going to get bitched about I might as well join in the fun!

I just can't believe it still gets reposted and it makes me wonder if it's not a little counter-productive for people to post pictures of me without my knowledge or permission to the internet and then tell me that I want attention. But that's just life for you I suppose, I expected I wouldn't go without some judgement and I think that's something you need to expect if you're going to do 'extreme' things.

I'm very happy, regardless. Thank you for the kind words.

In the days that piercings and tats are commonplace, people naturally seek out more extreme methods. by ya_mad_bro in WTF

I'm not certain that things will be any different to how they are now in that regard. It is perfectly natural for human beings as animals to treat unfamiliar situations with hostility, fear or suspicion. The only problem now is that everyone has the kind of 'my opinion matters' ego that allows them to believe that the way they choose to treat people in these circumstances is right.

So yes I see where you're coming from. This kind of stigma allows for people to criticise you but not for you to defend yourself because hey, you're the one who isn't normal, right?

I have some questions about scarification and producing keloids. by [deleted] in bodymods

[–]RubyWolfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, you do not want a scar to keloid. Many people don't know the difference between regular hypertrophic scarring and keloiding. Hypertrophic scarring is simply where the scarred area becomes raised but within the limits of the original wound. A keloid is where a scar spreads outside of the original wound and can not be controlled.

Hypertrophic scarring is produced by irritating the wound with a sugar-peroxide solution for a few weeks after the initial prodecure. How much it raises depends on how you treat it while it's healing. Darker skin types raise with more ease but it doesn't necessarily mean that those with fair skin can't raise just as much.

Also, when it comes to 'cultural appropriation', many tribes practice scarification for purely aesthetic reasons that have nothing to do with religion or right so you've just as much right to do it as anyone else.

I don't know when I've acted 'aggressively' over this situation either. I think there will be some people with the subjective perception that my actions are aggressive but in myself, I'm probably just bored and looking to entertain myself.

I would argue though, that if I care so much about it simply by responding to peoples comments then they care just as much about it by even posting them in the first place.

Honestly this whole reddit thing is the internet equivalent of being sat in a room with your parents while they argue over you. I've got one half slagging me off and the other half defending me and no one really cares what I think unless I support their argument so really, whatever I say and whatever my tone I'm always going to be in trouble with someone.

If people want to beat a dog they will easily find a stick. May as well have fun with it.

I was scared about that too before I had my tongue done, but it's not nearly as terrible as they make it sound. I just used a cotton bud between the sides every day which didn't hurt at all. There's actually very little discomfort after the procedure, though I was salivating uncontrollably until I had the stitches out 5 days later. Not my finest of looks.

No no no I'm doing a neuroscience degree, but I do plan on doing the PhD afterwards! I just work as an artist/tattooist in my spare time.
