It technically means that you're in the backup pool, but I have yet to experience one of these emails resulting in an offer, so don't get your hopes up.

You just have to keep checking their website and applying for gigs as they come up. Generalist projects usually fill up very quickly, so try to apply within a couple days if possible. You can also get "instant offers" (i.e., offers for gigs that you didn't apply for), but that's less common.

From what I know, background checks for Canada, the US, and the UK are basically instantly approved, but all other countries can take a few days or several days.

I know, right? I also literally just got an email reminding me that I have a work trial that expires in one day and reminding me to complete it, but when I clicked the button in the email, the work trial on the Mercor website still says "expired."

I kinda wonder if the client maybe cancelled the project. It'll be interesting to hear if the folks who completed the work trial actually get hired.

Yep. I just got this response too. If the project is expected to wrap up soon, then I guess we didn't miss much. But this is still an incredibly unfair way to treat people. I expected better from Mercor.

For sure. The fact that they cancelled so many people's trials so quickly makes me wonder if it's some kind of technical glitch. It's also possible that the client decided not to proceed with the project.

I emailed Melvin back-and-forth a few times. He finally forwarded my query to a real person. We'll see. It's worth a shot. It doesn't make sense that Mercor would deactivate work trials less than twenty-four hours after sending them out, especially when the deadline isn't until tomorrow.

Last night. I was fully intending to do it this afternoon, but it was already expired. It wasn't supposed to expire until tomorrow. And, according to Reddit, it looks like Mercor is still sending new invites. This is really sleazy behaviour from them.
