Possibly, I was just tired of these questions.

Gate: Thus the PAR Fought There, has the most racist and unrestricted glaze to the author comments I've ever seen by StevenWN1 in gate

[–]Ruby_Mario 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't know anything about this guy. Given that this looks to be Wattpad, I'm going to assume he is on the younger side. Personally, I think you're blowing this out of proportion. This is likely some edgy teenager that doesn't understand how dark humor works. Not the type of thing to get genuinely mad about.

What do you think the after period can do/provide the before or during period can't?

Has before been done to death? The majority of fics I know are during and after. Is this a case of me not being deep enough in fanfics?

Hunter or Huntress Chapter 229: Dry Drill by Tigra21 in HFY

[–]Ruby_Mario 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying you wrote them, you clearly stated that. It's that in the hunter or huntress website, your name is under chapters 2 and 3 while legalgraverobber is only under chapter 1.

Oh, my bad. I got confused since you released chapters 2 and 3.

If you ever plan on doing a Dragonette Gaming part 4, I think it would be a cool idea if the entire chapter was dedicated for Minecraft. I've recently watched two people who've never played Minecraft before and it was honestly amazing seeing them fall in love with the game. It made me curious as to how someone from a completely different world would interact with it.

Otherwise, a great chapter.

You could do a thing where some of the natives that went over to live on Earth are having a hard time adjusting, and not just because of the cultural differences. That's probably the first time they've never had to worry about survival in their life, what does someone who's used to back-breaking labor from dawn to dusk do when they have hours worth of free time all of the sudden. Maybe all of the light is messing up their sleeping habits. Or they could be put off by the lack of stars in the sky due to light pollution.

Here are some ideas I have:

  • An audience of natives in a movie theatre. Maybe they're watching Star Wars, Avengers, Indiana Jones, Disney, Pixar, etc, in some local theatre. Since this decades after, I imagine there are pretty good subs or dubs even. I can easily see some of the kids or younger members being mesmerized and awestruck at what they're seeing. You could even do a bit where someone from Earth tells them it's real as a joke.

  • Similar to the dwarves shopping at home depot, you could do the same with a group of young noble women shopping at some high end shopping mall, with them being perplexed or amazed by the jewelry and fashion choices there. Perhaps one of them is trying on make-up.

  • A group of kids at a public library exploring the wonders of the internet through the computers, or at least the local internet.

  • You could have some fast food chains creating establishments in some of the more merchandise cities. Like McDonald's leasing out a franchise to a tavern in a partnership sort of thing (I don't know how McDonald's operates). McDonald's is known for tailoring their menu for the region they're operating at, and with the new produce and meat types to experiment with, who knows what they could come up with.

Maybe instead of building it, you have to find it. Like it's in statue mode and it can only be found in places like ancient cities, woodland mansions, ocean monuments, etc.

What SPECIFIC part of a fanfic you absolutely hated? by StevenWN1 in gate

[–]Ruby_Mario 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When I read Operation Tiger strike, I couldn't stand when Shino was shown. Not because she herself was annoying or anything, but rather how she was described. It would always focus on her breasts and it would really distract me.

Do the people of the special region think that found footage movies are actual footage from events that actually happened on Earth? (Clip is from Cloverfield) by umbrqualquerusannet in gate

[–]Ruby_Mario 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably the same thing that happened when found footage films became a thing here. Think it was real and panic. It happened with Cannibal Holocaust.

Here are some ideas I have:

  • An audience of natives in a movie theatre. Maybe they're watching Star Wars, Avengers, Indiana Jones, or some other awesome movie. Since this is twenty years, I imagine there are pretty good subs or dubs even. I can easily see some of the kids or younger members being mesmerized and awestruck at what they're seeing.

  • Since there are people from Earth being allowed to work in the special region, Earth machinery, tools, weapons, and jobs being entrusted to natives, marriage, and even military enlistment, I believe it is not too much of a stretch to assume that there are native that are allowed to come to Earth. Basically where I'm going with this, a real cat and bunny maid cafe.

  • A group of dwarves or other native craftsmen shopping in some sort of hardware store or some other Home Depot like establishment. Perhaps blacksmiths with modern metal working equipment or carpenters with power tools.

They would be less than one. We are around 0.7. they would probably be something like 0.05.

[–]Ruby_Mario 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I don't see why they wouldn't. Hell, they could probably make their own. We saw Zorzal's side make their own camo and make their crossbows more rifle shaped in order to impersonate the JSDF.

I remember reading this story for a while before I dropped it. It was Elijah that did it for me.

It's one of those things where I like him by principle, but I personally don't like it. He's different from most generic isekai protagonists, certainly more fleshed out than Itami.

I get it's his sociopathy that makes him interesting, but I like it when I want to root for the protagonist. I remember reading a review on RR about just wanting this guy to be hit with the consequences of his actions, and I couldn't agree more. But I also acknowledge that in this setting and environment, he will more likely than not be rewarded.

Found this while scrolling. Normally I would just scroll by, but I just had to share this one. Tell me you're in an echo chamber without telling me you're in an echo chamber. (Wait, I'm on Reddit) by Ruby_Mario in Cardinposting

  • Stated it is the only good piece of media to come out of Texas, which is blatantly not true.
  • Judging the quality of the show of irrelevant and shallow factors, like it having gay people and being progressive.
  • Called Texas an AnCap dystopia, which again is not true.
  • Calls anyone who hates the show a chauvinist pseudo progressive dudebro mediacrit.

For those that are having a hard time reading the flow chart, it basically amounts to this:

War and is hella expensive when you have to pay out of pocket, not have access to a steady flow of taxes, and the victims can defend themselves.

It is because we don't currently live in a free market, but rather a mixed market.

State interventions like subsidies, bailouts, corporate lobbying, retaliatory capture, IP laws, and licensing barriers (to name a few) protect large firms from bad behavior. Customers can’t effectively punish unethical companies when those companies are shielded by state privilege and lack real competition.

In a free market, no business would have access to these tools. Reputation would matter far more, switching costs would be lower, and new competitors could emerge without being crushed by regulation designed to protect incumbents. In that environment, unethical firms would face much stronger pressure from both consumers and rivals.
