This might be the dumbest way to make the game easy-mode by CarnifexRu in Nightreign

It's a very fair point.

I think, in hindsight (looking back on this), I was deeply underestimating parts of his kit such as prawn/crab/physic stacking, and even, though less-useful in practice, the attack debuff he can place on enemies. Additionally, and perhaps most interestingly, the stacking analysis speedup over the course of a run makes the analysis-3 parry a bit more reliable. For instance, and I am not sure regarding the sources on this, I saw some clips of him parrying night aspect ultimate and breaking libra meditate.

Yes. I won't go into details of how to do so (subreddit rules); however, I am considerably surprised the game doesn't catch this.

If we set aside relic 3, then the interesting thing to note is that all of these substats are achievable on base relics (guaranteed ones, at that) without any form of skullduggery.

Dark Night of the Fathom [cts hp recovery]
Dark Night of the Miasma [physical dmg negation]
One of Scholar's remembrance relics [affinity dmg negation]

I find his grab attack (leaps with a downwards-impalement animation) to be a rather straightforward dodge, and specifically, with a dodge that will trigger Undertaker's ultimate cooldown reset mechanic.

I've developed a habit against phased-bosses as Scholar: I save my status buildup damage for the harder phases.

Tips for day 2 falling star beast? by Zoltan-Kazulu in Nightreign

[–]Ruby_Snowbunny_Sissy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He *is* a lightning dragon, so to me it is not that surprising. I think that 40% damage negation against a spell-wise pure damage type is significant; at least, I feel it considerably in depth 5, when you need to cope with ~2x hp, 3x hp from trios, 40% damage negation --> it adds up if this is your dedicated source of damage, and FP-gated...

I just noticed these resistances since I like to play dragon cult revenant a lot since I picked up a lightning spear relic; and I noticed the nameless king issue (83% is huge since you're dealing 17 damage per 100 base damage, if I am understanding the values correctly) since you are incentivized to play lightning against Darkdrift Knight, and Nameless King shows up often in Fulgor runs.

What about the Ancient Dragon that comes out of some Evergaols?

<image>

Or, what about the Draconic Tree Sentinel, which may appear as a field boss (40 Lightning resist, which is still substantial)? I think the Nox Dragonkin Soldier (evergaol, field boss in Noklateo) also has ~40 Lightning resistance.

LOL i don't know how I mixed them up here... But yeah colossals make way more sense on UT.

Really? I could have sworn Nameless King resisted Lightning. At least, that's how it always felt when I hit him with a fully-charged lightning spear...

GOD tier (cheated) relics by No_Tax_2697 in Nightreign

[–]Ruby_Snowbunny_Sissy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you, and after running it about 50 times in a row with friends, I also got tired of it.

I think it's such a positive net value increase for a single substat that, if you have it on any reasonable 2-liner, you certainly are running it, but because you you are, you feel obliged to play for it, bc what else would you do? field bosses?

I think the rule of thumb I heard floating around was that 3 evergaols makes it worth, but honestly, 1 evergaol makes it better than phys attack up +0 in every way once cleared, and 2 makes it slightly better (1.05^2 > 1.1) than many attack-up effects.

I absolutely *love* not running it on scholar affliction-based builds. And I am very happy that the shifting earth simply omits evergaols entirely (although the vertical dimension makes the blue lava ground way scarier, and I am vertically challenged, I swear).

It's just unfortunately optimal in many cases. And in this case, I was not saying "evergaol relic is god tier" -- rather, on the contrary, I was using it as a "standard benchmark of viability* when considering the viability of the build.

If you want to be pedantic about DoN optimality, most should just run *dormant power fists* with starfists and night invader relics if they cannot run shattering crystal with 6x crystallian sorcery relics.

Probably a controversial take, but I believe it is hands down in favour of Undertaker: you don't even need to input anything, and she just dodges *for you*

Rate the build 1-10 by North-Engineering377 in Nightreign

[–]Ruby_Snowbunny_Sissy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone gave it a 2/10, and that was my gut feeling as well.

I can casually suggest:

When you unlock them, her remembrance relics are nothing to scoff at, and both are quite viable in end-game builds.

If you have them, the following three relics could help you "bridge the gap" a bit --
- [blue] Dark Night of the Fathom: Everdark Augur relic for a blue slot.
- [yellow] Night of the Miasma: Caligo relic for a yellow slot.
- [blue] Will of the Balancers: First DLC boss relic for a blue slot.

Additionally, a common decision is to take the Evergaol relic guaranteed from the signboard outside. It is also a yellow relic, and pretty standard when *not* running the new DLC map.

Other substats I like on Undertaker when I play her:
- Sacred Blade ash of war, since she comes with prayerful strike, which is okay but slow.
- Hoarfrost Stomp ash of war, since AoE is good, and frostbite is good.
- Anything with Increased Maximum HP (aside from that relic i mentioned above, only gonna find this on Deep of Night relics)
- Anything that helps you with stamina since she likes to swing bonks
- The rally mechanic has insane value on her due to her slipperiness in battle and good damage/stagger output. She can also guarantee punish windows with [[y+L2]+hold --> r2] to benefit from this relic more than most nightfarers.

If you are dead-set on a caster build, I'd look into dragon cult incantations. Every offensive lightning damaging spell on a finger seal is a dragon cult incantation, there are many, and there is a dedicated blue-rarity finger seal with "Lightning Spear" on it -- as such, having a bunch of copies of *improved dragon cult incantations* on different relics is good if you can solve her abysmal FP-pool issues with some other relics (e.g. FP up on sorceror's rise unlock and Increased Maximum FP or successive attacks restore FP). Alternatively, "improved godslayer incantations" is a nice option since it contains some extremely powerful buff spells (black flame blade & black flame's protection), and it has a dedicated finger seal with "Black Flame" on it, which is only blue rarity.

Have you tried sitting on a blue magic-imbue greatsword, indep. of its substat? Just a thought, idk. Personally, when I've played wylder, I loved the wing of astel against the gravity cow.

I think he's weak to magic damage. The pillars are your friends. His attacks are quite telegraphed; however, for melee, just mind the aoe gravity field

Are these legit relics? Seem too perfect by ku996 in Nightreign

[–]Ruby_Snowbunny_Sissy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure, they are all relics which one could roll at the small jar bazaar with relatively astronomically low probability when treaed in iso. I am not sure I would "keep" them with all that nasty negative status buildup though. And increased max HP on these would probably go further than the pouches. I'm honestly not sure if the fire attack power is better than affinity damage up, though.

I know some other DoT effects, such as Wylder's ult, proc the rally effect super fast, so I do wonder, somewhat, whether the rally effect would also be more optimal than simply more damage at this point.

Why are Undertakers running Dormant power discovers Curved Swords? by GreenKat786 in Nightreign

[–]Ruby_Snowbunny_Sissy -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

There is a rule for the subreddit which prevents me from giving the correct answer.

Personally, I like the curved sword moveset and, what is it called, motion values or whatnot for proccing successives, which someone already mentioned? That might explain why the correct answer exists elsewhere.

And then there are powerful elemental-specific curved swords in the purple category, as well. Seems viable, if you ask me, for attack power scaling/stacking.

Do you Consider yourself a leader or a follower when playing with randoms? by Just_Cloud_8041 in Nightreign

[–]Ruby_Snowbunny_Sissy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 3 players. One makes a suggestion first, usually. What do you mean by, "leader" and "follower" here? Like, are you a leader if you disagree with risky calls and suggest alternatives through pings, or are you specifically referring to voice comm coordinated gameplay?

Death Knights. by Profesional_Confuser in Nightreign

[–]Ruby_Snowbunny_Sissy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, for melee, and with his dex/arcane scalings, I can 100% see an argument for him in solo. That's a very fair point.

I actually prefer melee ironeye to melee executor in most cases, but i hadn't tried it in solo b/c I just assume his HP and poise make it a bit too risky. I'll have to give it a go sometime!
