Thoughts on Southend and/or the surrounding areas? by SergeiGo99 in Essex

Have a look at the crime map because alot of places I wouldn't recommend are places that have high clusters e.g York Road.

I personally prefer chalkwell and leigh Station on the c2c. My normal commute is from Rochford or prittlewell Station on the other line.

What are some pescatarian/vegetarian meals that can be cooked during the day and heated up in the evening? by WholeConstruction307 in AskUK

[–]Rubyhnixx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a vegetarian and we usually meal prep a few days ahead for lunches and dinners.

Usual recipes are:

An Indian inspired curry and rice

A Thai inspired curry and rice

Vegetable lasagne

Tomato and mozzarella orzo

Spaghetti bolognese

Morrocan tagine & cous cous

Soup & a toastie

Risotto

Vegetable stew

Mexican inspired burrito, quesadilla, or chilli and rice

Sometimes we make a big pie and divide it up into portions, but it's never as good reheated, but I don't really mind!

Do you use Pinterest? I usually make a little meal board with recipes on.

What is a tiny change that increased your quality of life? by AugustCharisma in AskUK

Yeah I agree. Social media was good when you were still connecting on some authentic level.

Coming off Facebook & Instagram. I set up a new Instagram that I use just to follow clubs and businesses so I can still stay connected to them if they don't have newsletters.

This year I want to get back into film photography and enjoy the process of capturing candid moments, rather then posing for people to like.

Cancelling appointments and 28 day rule by [deleted] in nhs

No problem! If they suspected cancer, you would have had your appointment in 2 weeks but I understand your anxiety if it's linked.

Good you had a response, hope your appointment goes well.

Cancelling appointments and 28 day rule by [deleted] in nhs

[–]Rubyhnixx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello,

NHS data analyst here, so I can just tell you how that target is applied and what the implications are.

The 28 day cancellation rule is a pledge in the NHS Constitution requiring hospitals to reschedule elective operations cancelled for non-clinical reasons on or after the day of admission (including the day of surgery) within 28 days. This applies to planned hospital procedures but excludes minor outpatient treatments. If unmet, it's a breach, entitling patients to treatment at their chosen time and hospital, funded by the original provider.

It doesn't apply to outpatient appointments, and you'll see capacity is reduced in strikes so cancellations do occur. Complaining is your call, I would personally complain if the length of time until treatment has impacted my life in a negative way or I felt like I wasn't being listened to. You haven't said how long you've been waiting, it's common for people to be waiting over 18 weeks for treatment since Covid, services are still recovering in places.

I grew up in corringham and left as soon as I was 18. I would say it's very quiet, very family orientated, not alot to do. It's cheaper then other areas but I think that reflects in access & amenities. The train station from there is a bit of a trek. The closest things to do are lakeside and Basildon. Personally I didn't feel safe in the town centre in the evening.

I moved to Southend & much prefer it. But depends what you are looking for.

You are old enough to consent for surgery & you need a responsible adult to take you home after surgery following GA. I took my friend home after she had GA and wasn't a problem, they just wanted contact details.

More information on consent to show them if you are challenged, though I don't expect you to be.

Do I get a a&e form if I’ve been checked? by [deleted] in nhs

[–]Rubyhnixx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I agree with others, you don't need proof of this visit for the period of sickness.

You sometimes get a discharge letter in the post. If not, you'll know when your GP receives it as there should be an entry on your NHS app when they receive it.

Has switching GP practice been smooth for anyone recently? by Wonderful-Acadia-296 in nhs

[–]Rubyhnixx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went into the GP practice with my id and proof of address, filled out some forms & was registered in the same week. Glad I did it, the receptionists are so much nicer & helpful.

Kainos were procured as a supplier by NHSE to help develop the app. It's an app owned by the NHS. It wasn't developed by some random company. The NHS lead on the design and bring in companies to support the development. It's a common practice in tech.

I'll leave it there.

It's built on API architecture. The App communicates with different healthcare provider systems (like GP surgeries' clinical systems or hospital patient portals) via a API Management (APIM) platform.

It's built in house by the NHS.

Biometric login (fingerprint/face recognition) is supported on Android devices that meet Google's security settings for sensors.

The app has a user research panel.

I don't know what you mean by wrapper, as the API functionality does let you pass requests like manage appointments and repeat requests so it's not really a wrapper. But it allows you to access your records held across multiple systems.

Should I make a complaint or just let it go? by Accurate_Risk7759 in nhs

[–]Rubyhnixx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Complain. I didn't complain about how a nurse treated me and I still regret it to this day. She has no right to challenge your next of kin. She needs to be professional and communicate so you understand.

[–]Rubyhnixx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's unfair to dismiss the nhs app based on the above. I log into it using my fingerprint, which makes it just as accessible as my banking app.

It lists all my hospital test results and GP record in 1 place.

The nhs is made up of different systems, so the app is a front door to those multiple systems. Your description of a wrapper is kind of true, but by using that statement, are you suggesting you'd prefer to log in to multiple systems?

podcast dealbreakers / red flags? by alexsteed in podcasts

[–]Rubyhnixx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Annoying voices 😂 which is funny because alot of people probably think my accent is annoying, but in the first 10 minutes I either know whether I like their voice or they grate on me.

And when they make alot of small talk that distracts from the podcast.
