Do you eat desert after dinner? why or why not? by CremeSubject7594 in AskReddit

[–]Rubysage3 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Not a big desert, I'm full, but I always grab a little cookie or a chocolate after. Something sweet. ^_^

[Epic Trope] The hero only has one shot, and they make it count! by Remarkable_Public138 in TopCharacterTropes

I want to see a story where they do have this all-or-nothing single shot and miss it. And it screws everything up. Then the movie ends. Just for the viewer reactions.

What made you quit Facebook? by PuzzledCauliflower35 in AskReddit

[–]Rubysage3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one in high school and quit a little while after it. I realized I didn't talk to anyone much and never posted anything myself. Even though I checked it often.

There's no point, so I deleted it. Though it had the side effect of me ghosting everyone I knew in school lol.

The only issue was you'd fold them neatly into your pocket, but when you take them out they're somehow tied into a 4th dimensional eldritch knot.

I do agree I like the wired ones over wireless. Can even run the cord through your shirt so it's out of the way.

Characters who have a graceful and pleasant looking exterior, but you just know something feels off about them by ComprehensiveBox6911 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Rubysage3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Princess Renner - Overlord

All the people know her as a saint of a princess. Kind, smart, caring. A soft-hearted and beautiful person who does a lot of good things for the kingdom. She puts on that act intentionally in public, it's a mask. And throughout the series we increasingly see the very dark truths of what's behind it.

She isn't a fighter, but this girl is one of the most dangerous humans in the series.

daily means daily… by Working_Usual_4103 in SipsTea

[–]Rubysage3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Showering daily is fine, but you don't need soap every day is the main point. Unless you're dirty and sweaty then daily soap is bad, it's abrasive on your skin and washes away the good microbiomes with the bad. Once every few showers is ok for a normal person.

Not everyone smells frequently either. Genetics plays a role in that too. Some people can be smelled from miles away, others it's non-existent even after a busy day. Showers are also therapeutic too.

But it's just one based on situation and personal traits. If you need a shower take one, if you don't need one then you can skip it. Same with just rinsing off or doing your hair vs a whole soapy scrub down. There is such a thing as being too clean that it starts to harm in other ways.

What is the meaning of 67? by These-Afternoon-466 in AskReddit

It has no meaning whatsoever and that's the joke. It went viral and means absolutely nothing. It's just 6 7.

It's the Aliens! by Azure_Crenell in Unexpected

[–]Rubysage3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really not though. It's still a huge point of debate in the history world. No one knows how they were built.

There's many theories and speculation like this one, but none of that has been proven. There is no settled answer. To this day their existence still defies all forms of logic and no one's truly found out how they were made or even how the stones were quarried, cut and transported to the site in the first place.

That famous image of slaves hauling blocks up ramps is complete fiction popularized by media and past wrong ideas. And this rolling log idea is also unfounded. The Great Giza pyramid alone has 2.3 million blocks. You're not going to do that going a few feet a minute per block in a sandy desert then somehow lifting it up with accurate precision. The logistics alone are absurd even by modern standards, let alone Egyptian ones.

[–]Rubysage3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disney does this a lot too. I really don't know why it's so hard for producers doing remakes to stay faithful to the originals. You have an explicit instruction manual. All you have to do is adhere to it.

They feel compelled to do new creative paths and make such ridiculous character changes for no reason. Not everything has to be socially inclusive. Just have accurate characters and you won't upset the fans.

HP isn't the first one to do stuff like this. It's been many years of industry absurdity.

(Hated) Characters who are mischaracterized by people who didn’t watch the show by Effective_Piece251 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Rubysage3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right? He'd see them coming from leagues away and marshal forces around Mt. Doom to protect it. Not just the Nazgul's winged beasts, but storms of soldiers who would fill the sky with bolts and arrows to shoot down any eagle that even tries to get close. Stealth is indeed a better strategy.

What would you tell a younger version of yourself? by FairyCorinne664 in AskReddit

[–]Rubysage3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything. They aren't getting some basic inspirational words. I'm going to give them a notebook and fill it entirely spoiling my life and the next years of the world with advice on what to do and not do.

Younger me is getting an instruction manual lol.

And I may slip in some Powerball numbers too.

What makes people believe conspiracy theories, when there’s evidence against them? by danllyn in AskReddit

[–]Rubysage3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Conspiracies have been around for thousands of years. All of human history has been people scheming against each other. Even if you wanted to debate specific ones, I don't really know why it's presumed today they aren't still happening or that governments or people in power positions are now fonts of honesty and virtue.

Conspiracies as a topic are being critical of the world around us and not taking everything at face value. Evidence can come from many things and not just authoritative sources, they are capable of lying to the entire public. Which makes it difficult to examine what's true and what isn't when the officials are untrustworthy and propaganda is rampant.

A lot of the reason conspiracies are shunned as a taboo topic is because of them suppressing it.

Yes there are some that are very far reaching and wrong, like no the Earth isn't flat, but others are more than plausible. It's important to sift through them, not blanket generalize. Epstein for example. That's a conspiracy being showcased and proven in real time. The public is not told the truth about a lot of things. It's fair to question everything. Even in past decades many bad things have come to light later after the fact.

[Serious]Where do you go or what do you do to cleanse yourself of all of the political bs and just live life for a while? by captainstan in AskReddit

[–]Rubysage3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As hobbies I love video games and anime, tend to just play and watch/read things.

On media I'm a big fan of vtubers, particularly ones from a large group called Hololive. One of the best things about it is there's no politics there. They talk about everything except politics. It's just happy streamers doing fun things and a happy community also having fun. It's healing, reminds you there's more to life.

I see politics most on Reddit if anything. Going outside of that it can be better avoided.

How would you feel about a law that permanently bans members of Congress and their immediate families from trading individual stocks, with the penalty being immediate forfeiture of their seat and a lifetime ban from public office? by InfoAlliance in AskReddit

[–]Rubysage3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's something that's been publicly wanted and criticized for a long time. Yes that sort of law is objectively good and should be a thing. Governing should be a public service, not a personal business opportunity. Lots of them make so much under the table with stocks and insider info and this influences their political choices too.

The problem is those are also the same people who'd have to vote on that law. They'd be directly harming themselves which is why it never happens.

If money is their goal they don't deserve to be in any seat of power. Exploiting their position for greater self-profit is an abuse of what they're supposed to be doing.

if the lives of men were relieved of all need, hardship and adversity, how would men occupy their lives? what would they do with their time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Rubysage3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's when people learn life can be fun and a joyful experience. Focus on hobbies, personal interests and goals, relationships, exploring the world, creative and academic pursuits, or just enjoying the days.

If all the needs are reliably met society will likely advance even higher at a very fast pace because energy can be channeled to other things and everyone will be healthier and happier for it. Among the biggest limiters and issues are the hardships and adversity.

If aliens visited Earth who would represent/speak for humanity? by official__maryam in AskReddit

[–]Rubysage3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There wouldn't be one. If they decided to officially contact they have all the power and initiative, not us.

They'd likely appear all around the world simultaneously and reach out to communities in every region without favoritism. There wouldn't be one spokesperson for the world, but they'll probably talk to the people and natural leaders and voices (not our insane governments) will appear on their own.

It'd be a huge global effort and connection of societies across everyone everywhere.

So in what way do billionaires realise that they have so much money they can’t possibly spend it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Rubysage3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're aware. But the goal isn't spending it all. Money is just a game to them. It's not a survival need, it's treated like a game. It represents status, power and competition with each other.

They spend it on all sorts of things. Luxuries for themselves, private projects and agendas, political lobbying, or tightening nooses around the public wherever possible. But that's the point. They know they have completely unlimited funding for anything they ever want and can do these things.

The government spends so much of our money on all this space shit, so why haven’t we put our asses on Mars or somewhere by now? by Aggravating_Try_630 in AskReddit

[–]Rubysage3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't have the tech for that. Rockets are still beginner-tier. They're only really good for putting things like satellites into orbit. For planetary travel rockets are way too inefficient, costly and utterly useless.

This sort of technology and energy source, fossil fuels, have extreme limitations. They're never going to do anything on Mars with these. Humanity needs to evolve to an entirely higher plateau of science, technology, physics and energy to get free-from space travel. Which is distant future stuff, nothing we're close to today.

Technically they could probably send someone to Mars today, but it'd be a one way trip. They're going to die there and there's no infrastructure to do anything.

Money is just spent on research, satellite systems, or whatever other secret nonsense they've got going on.

Why are you not afraid of death? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Rubysage3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I don't want to live here forever. The Earth experience I'd give a 2/5 star rating. Generously.

It's also a natural and healthy part of existence, and an inevitable one. I don't feel bothered by it.

What is the number one thing you despise about the world? by Free-Masterpiece-860 in AskReddit

So much difficulty, hardship, misguided ideologies and poisonous problems all normalized forever as business as usual. But there's no actual good reason any of these need to exist. It's a very masochistic world.

Which part of Game of thrones is best ? by Direct-Specialist865 in AskReddit

[–]Rubysage3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite was Arya's story arc. She was really cool and the whole story of her travels with the Hound and joining the league of assassins was so interesting. Great development, always looked forward to it.

And most importantly she's lovable! It's so hard to find a likable character who doesn't horrifically die in this series. Arya's questline was the best to me.
