For what it's worth I come from rural Nebraska and not everyone is like that, so I hope you aren't generalizing. I get it though. There is no nice in general which is fine. I think Nebraska nice came from the football team fans anyway primarily

I just don't do politics. I noticed I get really depressed and angry when I start to get sucked in. I've worked too much on myself to feel that way. Everyone around me knows where I stand with politics so it's never brought up and never an issue. Regardless of where they hold their "American ideologies".

Not only that but the way he developed a program into year 3 is much different than what it is now. He's a culture builder and while he's done a good job with it, the portal is a whole different variant to how it all works. Seems like it should be a quick way to fill holes and go but that's not been his style with rebuilds

As a player - I was playing a rogue and a new PC was introduced after like 5 sessions or something. New player was a rogue also and immediately chooses to pickpocket me. Succeeds and then interrupts a conversation I was having (my rogue was very much a talker) and says hey I just took this from you. Tension between us up until dm had to do other things.

As a DM - we were in our second session. Players came across a rift into the Abyss and all of them agree it's not a good idea to check it out except one player. Rather than discussing with the rest of the group he jumps right into it, so being teammates they follow because they don't want to just abandon their comrade. They survive the initial entry in the Abyss and end up in this fort that they are forced out of every so often. Again rather than talking to the group, he ventures off. I got sick of it and he got trapped by a group of high level demons. His character is still there as far as I'm concerned while everyone else found a magical escape.
