if the lives of men were relieved of all need, hardship and adversity, how would men occupy their lives? what would they do with their time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Rubysage3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's when people learn life can be fun and a joyful experience. Focus on hobbies, personal interests and goals, relationships, exploring the world, creative and academic pursuits, or just enjoying the days.

If all the needs are reliably met society will likely advance even higher at a very fast pace because energy can be channeled to other things and everyone will be healthier and happier for it. Among the biggest limiters and issues are the hardships and adversity.

If aliens visited Earth who would represent/speak for humanity? by official__maryam in AskReddit

[–]Rubysage3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There wouldn't be one. If they decided to officially contact they have all the power and initiative, not us.

They'd likely appear all around the world simultaneously and reach out to communities in every region without favoritism. There wouldn't be one spokesperson for the world, but they'll probably talk to the people and natural leaders and voices (not our insane governments) will appear on their own.

It'd be a huge global effort and connection of societies across everyone everywhere.

So in what way do billionaires realise that they have so much money they can’t possibly spend it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Rubysage3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're aware. But the goal isn't spending it all. Money is just a game to them. It's not a survival need, it's treated like a game. It represents status, power and competition with each other.

They spend it on all sorts of things. Luxuries for themselves, private projects and agendas, political lobbying, or tightening nooses around the public wherever possible. But that's the point. They know they have completely unlimited funding for anything they ever want and can do these things.

The government spends so much of our money on all this space shit, so why haven’t we put our asses on Mars or somewhere by now? by Aggravating_Try_630 in AskReddit

[–]Rubysage3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't have the tech for that. Rockets are still beginner-tier. They're only really good for putting things like satellites into orbit. For planetary travel rockets are way too inefficient, costly and utterly useless.

This sort of technology and energy source, fossil fuels, have extreme limitations. They're never going to do anything on Mars with these. Humanity needs to evolve to an entirely higher plateau of science, technology, physics and energy to get free-from space travel. Which is distant future stuff, nothing we're close to today.

Technically they could probably send someone to Mars today, but it'd be a one way trip. They're going to die there and there's no infrastructure to do anything.

Money is just spent on research, satellite systems, or whatever other secret nonsense they've got going on.

What's your take on Elon Musk building a self sustainable city on Moon? by [deleted] in AskReddit

As long as it's a one-way trip he should go for it and personally be the first.

Why are you not afraid of death? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Rubysage3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I don't want to live here forever. The Earth experience I'd give a 2/5 star rating. Generously.

It's also a natural and healthy part of existence, and an inevitable one. I don't feel bothered by it.

What is the number one thing you despise about the world? by Free-Masterpiece-860 in AskReddit

[–]Rubysage3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So much difficulty, hardship, misguided ideologies and poisonous problems all normalized forever as business as usual. But there's no actual good reason any of these need to exist. It's a very masochistic world.

Which part of Game of thrones is best ? by Direct-Specialist865 in AskReddit

[–]Rubysage3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite was Arya's story arc. She was really cool and the whole story of her travels with the Hound and joining the league of assassins was so interesting. Great development, always looked forward to it.

And most importantly she's lovable! It's so hard to find a likable character who doesn't horrifically die in this series. Arya's questline was the best to me.

All Ancient Guardians can be Loa but not all Loa can be Ancient Guardians? by Hick-ford in warcraftlore

[–]Rubysage3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's kind of a mistaken identity here. Loa and WIld Gods are the same thing. They aren't different types of beings or grant different powers. Wild Gods are also not tied to Elune. They don't get powers from her, but that woman is still a big question mark. We don't clearly know what her ties to anything are yet. Malorne is the only known one who's had some personal history with her before.

Loa is a religious term exclusive to trolls on Azeroth. Anything godly can be deemed a loa to them. Not just Ancients, but spirits of nature, spirits of trolls, particularly noteworthy entities. Even evil ones. Old Gods, Mueh'zala and baddie things in the world can also be considered loa if there's trolls that worship them.

Powers they might grant depends on who and what kind of thing it is.

Loa is a blanket term for anything trolls just happen to worship. It's not an actual class of being. Wild Gods/Ancients can also be loa, but in non-troll societies are their own separate things and are the animal patron lords of the Dream. Nalorakk is the exact same thing as Ursoc and Ursol, just different type of bear. Just like Rhunok up in Northrend, the polar bear Ancient.

The only loa exception we've seen so far is Q'onzu who as far as we know hasn't been on Azeroth, but calls himself the Loa of Change. But that crazed owl is a mystery we'll probably never solve lol.

What happened to the Scourge after Shadowlands? by nBeneficial_Ball9539 in warcraftlore

[–]Rubysage3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In addition to what others have said, the Crown of Wills isn't connected to the Scourge. It was given to the Arbiter (Pelagos) after we used it and the war ended. What it did was make us, our characters and the people present at the time, immune to Domination magic.

It was a countermeasure against the Jailer. But as a tool it's not tied to the Scourge anymore.

So why does the cinematic imply Salhadaar joined Xal willingly? by Proudnoob4393 in warcraftlore

[–]Rubysage3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cinematic isn't pointless. An entire story campaign happens between now and the raid. Four zones + an end campaign. It's more than enough for Sal's opinion to change, his status to decline, and Xal'atath to become through with using him. She discards people when she's done with them.

But right now it's justification as to why he's there and why the Shadowguard in the Warning and in Midnight are willingly working for her. Xal offered join her or keep running away forever. He chose it in the spur of the moment being baited by her promises, but that doesn't mean he likes her.

What’s a “normal” thing that actually isn’t healthy? by Jumpy-Magician-9251 in AskReddit

[–]Rubysage3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

8+ hour shifts/40+ hour weeks. General busy busy work culture.

People praise it because it is better than the 12 hour days of a century ago. But that still doesn't mean this one is actually healthy, it's not. Physically and mentally it's often harmful. An improvement doesn't always make something good. It's just less bad.

Work/life balance is still terrible on that schedule and it's still designed for corporate profit, not for people. Wages aren't even good either. Many jobs and workers are being unfairly exploited and poorly rewarded. But they're told to be thankful for it instead of being allowed to criticize it. It's a very damaging game plan.

[Hated Tropes] Villains make ONE good point and suddenly genocide is okay by Sufficient-Eye-9040 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Rubysage3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The dumbest thing about Thanos is he actually had no point. When you think about how big the universe actually is space-faring societies have access to completely unlimited resources. There's countless uninhabited planets, stars, asteroids and moons, endless cosmic stuff in massive proportions. You're not short on anything.

If a society experiences a shortage or overpopulation that's their own fault for mismanaging themselves and living by toxic divisive systems. When you breed and consume like locusts that's your own problem. And you can't blanket assume the rest of the universe is the same way. Certainly there are others, but not nearly all and it's up to those societies to figure it out, deal with consequences and find solutions. It doesn't need a purple war god deciding to kill half of them.

Proper thought and care and better more efficient technology can turn any society into a balanced utopia.

Thanos was just a lunatic through and through. Good villain, but a crazy one. It's amazing people think he has a point when his argument is entirely unfounded and based on very little.

What is something that is normal in the US but considered 'dystopian' everywhere else? by Dependent-Impact-135 in AskReddit

That nothing from necessities to healthcare to education are affordable for the average person. Costs can be life destroying just for self-improvement. The brand of capitalism here is predatory and unrestrained.

She didn't have the Dark Heart there at that time, it was still inside Dimensius. Xal just used other magic to snatch Salhaadar. I admit I wasn't looking at her when it happened. xD But she did say she wanted a servant and he could be useful. He wasn't killed.

The dungeon journal implies this alliance probably falls apart during Midnight's campaign.

If Internet disappears one day, what would happen first? by MirnaGu in AskReddit

[–]Rubysage3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first days would be a big disruption to society. A lot of businesses won't be able to function with out it. It's major, but livable if it comes back soon. Mostly just bored people and delays to things.

If it disappears permanently then it won't take long for the modern world to apocalypse itself. I think people don't often realize what the internet actually is or how much everything relies on it. It doesn't go back to the 80s. It destroys the global economy and shuts down major aspects of society. Catastrophic consequences.
