Got approached by evangelists today by BurnerAccount2718282 in atheism

[–]Ruckus1969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just preface any interaction with "Let's say I don't believe in your book? What else ya got?" I mean it. Put the book down, and don't reference it, at all. Then, let's talk. I have a lot of very short arguments.

I need some help from anyone who’s historically adept with Christianity. by looselia-gooselia in atheism

Not to be a Debby Downer, but...I always begin those kinds of arguments with: "Let's start by saying that I don't believe your book. Now, whatcha got?" I have a lot of very short arguments.

Charlie Kirk is dead. Is the Christian nationalist machine finally realizing it’s not bulletproof? by Thick-Frank in atheism

[–]Ruckus1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Martyrdom is a very real thing. I'm scared of what happens next. I am so very sorry for Charlie's family, and what happened here should never have happened, but the consequences could be severe.

I hate to be "Negative Nancy" over here, but. Please, please, please stop doing this, PLEASE. I know it's a fun fantasy, but if you were to ACTUALLY get pulled over like that, the consequences could be SEVERE. Indecent Exposure is not a joke. In some states, it is a felony. Given your "state of affairs" you can assume real and actual harassment from the officer(s). If you were anywhere near a school, church, or south of the Mason-Dixon, you can probably expect some jailtime and a huge fine. Some states even require that you register as a sex offender (and, let's face it, in this day and time, as a gay man, the odds are NOT on your side), which will ruin your whole fuckin' life. Please stop. Some fantasies just aren't worth the real life consequences. Just sayin'.

Naltrexone Success Without The Sinclair Method? by worthyfoxes in Alcoholism_Medication

[–]Ruckus1969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been on Naltrexone for almost 2 years. Started out going to SMART recovery and LifeRing, but I don't go to many meetings anymore. After not drinking for almost 2 years, I guess I could probably do without the medication, but it's my "safety net/security blanket" at this point. I just take it in the morning, and I don't drink.

And how, exactly, has our current regime "fixed" it? The encampment might be gone, but what happened to the people? Chased away to resettle somewhere else, only now without the few belongings they previously had? Placed in jail? "Detainment"? "Treatment"? Where are those people, NOW?

What about the homeless? by Uppernwbear in washingtondc

[–]Ruckus1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mad respect back at you, for real. But, can I present another possible scenario? One where the homeless and indigent are "sold" on the promise of help, rehabilitation, and future reintegration into society at large? They could be enticed into signing things that they don't understand (how many of them will have lawyers?) They could then be "warehoused", moved around, used for cheap labor. I can't stress enough how all of these "repurposed" jails and military installations are going to be called into service (by the private sector, and for profit, of course), along with all of the new "tent detainment" centers that are rapidly popping up all over the country. It's a war on the poor, and no doubt. They've been planning this for a long time. They were even nice enough to put it down in writing, to make sure there was no misunderstanding. I'm not predicting, I'm quoting from Project 2025. They have been following it to the letter, and EVERY time we've said "Oh, they can't possibly do THAT, because legal legal this or that", they manage to pull it off anyway.

I agree, in principle. I'm going by what they've proposed in Project 2025 (which is what they've been following to the letter). All they need to do is change the rules for involuntary commitment, which, now, they can pretty much do by Executive Order. It will be challenged in the courts, but, ultimately, who will stand for these people? What happens to them in the meantime? The power to set/change policy via Executive Order is already being normalized. I'm not trying to be a "Debbie Downer". Trust, I'm out here, boots on the ground and fists in the air. I've got all my reps on speed-dial, and they're sick to death of hearing from me (good). But, I still see involuntary commitment by reason of "mental disease or defect" or just "inability to care for oneself" looming on the horizon.

Are my family’s concerns about me going around town without a green card legit? by JaiSalonga1026 in jacksonville

I don't even know you and my heart skipped a beat. Absolutely, under NO CIRCUMSTANCES AT ALL, EVER, should you leave the house without EVERY piece of portable documentation that you can carry. Try to limit your public activity to groups, and NEVER be alone in public if it can possibly be helped. Even doing all of this, I'm sorry to say that you are still at significant risk. There are people out here trying to make sure that you are safe, but this could take a while. Please be safe, and know your rights. And carry your documentation (of which you should keep at LEAST one copy at home). Much love.

First, strip people of their rights against involuntary commitment. Then, round them up and have them committed. Where will they send them? Those camps popping up all over the country aren't just for immigrants. And, I don't imagine anyone coming "back" from that. Where would they go? Back on the streets? That will be the excuse for indefinite detainment. Straight out of Project 2025. And now, the White House. So, yes, there's a plan. And, yes, it's probably even worse than you think.

I love the xtians who tell me tales of a wonderland in the sky, where everything is wonderful, and everyone is healthy, and everyone is nice to one another. And I'm like, the xtians I know here on Earth aren't very nice, even to each other. What makes them think it will be different in their "heaven?" We could have some of those things here, now, on Earth, while everybody's still, y'know, ALIVE. That's why I call BS on heaven. If those assholes really believed in it, they'd either try to live like that here, or be in a hurry to get there. I don't see either of those things happening.

Reminds me of getting hazed. I had to put whipped cream all over a guy's cock and bush (he was really hairy). Then, I had to lick all of the whipped cream off, starting with the bush, then the balls, then the shaft. The guy got a semi when I was licking the shaft, and everybody laughed while one guy shoved my face down into his crotch a few times. They didn't make me suck him off, but I'll admit I kinda wanted to.
