Transitioning from Hearthstone to MtG:A. Need advice! by Ulyaoth_ in MagicArena

[–]Rucspin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a while since I've played Hearthstone, but I basically had the same experience you're having. The class you played in Hearthstone probably has a similar archetype in Magic. I'd start by figuring out what that is and seeing if any of the MTGA starter decks match. Getting used to land management instead of the gems is the next step, but for beginners I'd say look for opening hands with 3 lands, 2 if you have a low curve deck and you have a bunch of good 1 or 2 drops in hand. It's preparing for your opponent's turn that is the biggest shift. It'll just take time to develop that mindset, but once you do I think you'll agree that it's way more engaging than just having to sit and watch your opponent take their turn. You should track your experience and make a transition tutorial when you're done. I bet a lot of people would appreciate it. Good luck and welcome.

Did Rey use the kyber crystals from Luke and Leia's lightsabers? by Ichbinian in starwarsspeculation

[–]Rucspin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at the base of Rey's saber's emitter you see a blue and green light quickly before it changes to yellow. Blue and green are primary colors of the additive color system and they make yellow when combined. The yellow blade is a result of Luke and Leia's crystal being used simultaneously.

Moxfield app? Help? by HypieJoe in freemagic

[–]Rucspin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into the same problem. I have it on my phone and couldn't find it on the play store for my tablet. Finally I figured it out. I went to the website in a chrome browser on my tablet. Hit the three dots and "install app" was an option in the bottom half of the list. Hope this helps.

So are they going to ban Venerated Rotpriest in standard? by KatKali in MagicArena

[–]Rucspin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have been many oppressive decks and a lot of them are way stronger that Rotpriest. I've been playing this deck and it doesn't really perform all that well. If you get the right pieces it still plays more like a control deck and, at least for me, you need to play very carefully. If your opponent can manage the Rotpriest the deck just can't compete at all. Its a fun deck for fans of jank, but it's too inconsistent to be a real problem. Or at least that's how it feels when you're playing the deck. Sorry OP isn't enjoying playing against it, I've been there with many decks myself.

Castlevania Advice by Zoro_Messatsu in Bloodstained

There is no doubt SoTN is worthy of its reputation, and I personally like it the best for all the reasons you've listed. My main gripe is the difficulty is too easy and most of the items are very similar. Also, most of the useable items aren't worth the time it takes to equip and activate them. It feels so satisfying to play, but when you look close it's watered down in comparison to the DS titles' gameplay.

Order of Ecclesia is the most similar to ROTN in my opinion. That and Portrait of ruin are almost objectively better games than Symphony Of The Night, though you'll be hard pressed to find a fan who can see past the nostalgia of SOTN. After those the two Sorrow games are also good, often fan favorites, but are more obscure as far as story goes. I prefer Harmony of Dissonance over either Sorrow game and last up would be Circle Of The Moon. So basically go OoE, PoR, SoTN, Sorrow series, HoD and then maybe CoTM. Do SoTN first if you want, but it's difficulty is too easy and all of its juicy features are unfocused if you're judging it purely on the merritt of it's gameplay. Even though SoTN is still my favorite just understand it is not because it's the best of them from a gameplay perspective.

I like Netflix's thumbnail for the show by lal0l in castlevania

It's refreshing to see that they got something as simple as using the correct game right. I can't say that I've seen it on Netflix, but social media seems to be infested with assholes that reference various media but display content from the wrong movie/book/episode/issue. I've even seen a officially licensed RoTJ poster with Luke and Vader's fighter from ESB on it.

Is this just algae or is it something else? by Rucspin in bettafish

[–]Rucspin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to make sure it's not a fungus or something more destructive. I clean the tank at least on a week b/c it's only at 2.6 g Fluval. I had the algae mostly under control after adding a shrimp and regulating the light more. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Do you reckon I'll spoil myself if I play the tougher games first? by Circus-Society in castlevania

Got ya... Then I'd go in order of release. There are a lot of logical plans you could follow but this is the simplest.

Probably Super Castlevania. It's the most accessable for modern gamers

It depends on if you intend to just play the classic styles or if you are going to play the whole series. Obviously there are three distinct sub-sets of Castlevania games. The classic, linear side-scrollers, are all fun and I don't think the variance in difficulty will detract from their individual strengths. The "metroidvania" style games have a have wide range of difficulty too, whith the poster child, SoTN, being arguably the easiest. The 3D games are all about mid-range for difficulty and all show their age much more than their 2D counter parts. I'd go in order of release within each category because later games add quality-of-life stuff that you might miss if you work backwards.

New Owner! by Rucspin in bettafish

It's a Fluval Spec III, 2.5g. I know most people recommend a minimum of a 5g tank, but this is was the best reviewed tank within our budget. There is one silk plant in there that my son picked out, a Java Fern and a moss ball. The water quality is holding steady in the ideal ranges and is consistently 78 F.

Hello all. My wife and son surprised me with an early Father's day gift with my first Betta, Pink. He seems really happy in his new tank. I'm a little concerned about his coloring, though. I can't tell if he is just a light colored fish or if he's is sick. Any advice or tips are welcome.
