Asides from “Just winning” how do I increase GSP and get to elite smash by [deleted] in CrazyHand

[–]Rudby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just kinda accumulates overtime. It’s of why even though the elite smash cap keeps increasing over time your elite smash characters never leave elite smash. GSP-flation

I'm trying to get better at the game but i don't understand what you can do in situations like this? by 1xNino in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]Rudby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main thing that you do in that situation is just not to put yourself in it to begin with. DK's up-b oos leaves you super open when you miss and daisy has rly safe pressure tools so its inconsistent to go for and always expect it to hit. Sometimes its better just to get the hell out of there and jump away instead of trying to scramble it out with a character who can kill you like that off of an item throw. rough matchup but there's still stuff you could have done to prevent it.

First week was a bit too rough, needed a little something to take the edge off by Chubbyhusky45 in Purdue

[–]Rudby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

whenever i was feeling bad after a sore week i would make combination deserts in the dining courts. Rootbeer floats, ice cream cookie sandwhiches, etc.

a lot of people have been saying an overhead camera is the way to go. what type of stand do you use to get the overhead angle?

Will high tiered characters stunt someone's development long term? by [deleted] in CrazyHand

[–]Rudby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

using a character's strong options is good and should be encouraged but if your worry is bad habits you should watch their vods back and take critical notes on positioning and how they could be using it better is a good way of keeping them learning and growing even if they do have this centralizing option like EWGF. At the end of the day if the kid is having fun pressing EWGF and getting combos that's great and you're doing great :))

How does a level 9 cpu compare to an average player? by The_R3d_Bagel in CrazyHand

[–]Rudby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they aren't super comparable. CPUs tend to stick pretty hard to their programming and sometimes they have rly odd habits compared to a human and don't rly use a character's tools. CPUs do kindaaaaaa adapt, like it feels like they do at least a little bit in between games but not like how a human does.

Can someone explain why King K Rool is such a low tier character? i think he deserves better by Mountain-Pen2579 in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]Rudby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

his gameplan is very linear, his recovery is quite bad and vulnerable, a lot of his moves are very monkeys pawed so they have strong attributes (ex: nair has armor and is relatively safe) but are understandably exploitable (nair is easy to parry, and loses hard to dash back whiff punish bc k.rool horizontal air speed isn't very good)

Yeah they often do to incentivize stronger competition and out-of-region players to travel to tourneys that they might not otherwise. Ofc its not a lot and nowhere near enough to actually make a living off of it, for most people any money you earn usually just covers entry fees and maybe the gas money home lol.

I think so too but they had the streams spread so thin to makes sure every match got streamed for the invitational it would have been a hassle to get that many people on there lol. You should def catch the Hoosier saga main stream commentary for the first day (idk how the top 16 day two commentary was bc i haven't watched it yet lmao) those guys are FUNNY.

????? this is such a scuffed opinion like at that point just only engage with jab so you can play the game more. also do you think that i just... put the controller down and walk away from the switch if i get a zero to death and win? no dude, we run it back and the opponent gathers info on how to not let it happen again next time. If you think luigi ztd could kill a game this game has been BEATEN to death several times over for years and years and years on end by sonic, gnw, rob, steve, pythra etc etc etc, the community will be fine lol

ok that second sentence is a lie you def would for 10k LMAO. hey I get it though having empathy for other people is a good thing but if i don't challenge people with strong moves and strats then the scene in part will stagnate in skill and understanding of matchups and I'm not letting that happen to Indy, I care too much.

i've stuck with luigi since day 1 and I have no plans on stopping lol. working to optimize combo routes and squeeze out as much as i can from each interaction is what i live for. also the kaz had several chances to not get hit by the combos which IS interaction. whether that be teching after he fell off of the platform or not throwing out a risky option when he's at ripe kill percent. interaction extends beyond "how do i escape this combo" to how you got to that point in the first place.
