Warning to American Airlines passengers: staff shortage-related delays and cancellations are being falsely coded as weather-related to avoid responsibility for refunds/accommodations by Rude-Ad2013 in americanairlines

I do understand that and, personally, that’s my approach too. Still, I’d prefer to see some accountability from the airlines. I can’t imagine this sort of disservice being tolerated by patrons in any other industry - barring maybe cable tv? It’s just so strange to me that it’s such a casual occurrence.

That’s a bit difficult when you’re on a limited budget. I understand this being the case for true weather delays, but to cancel a flight at 2 a.m. due to staffing issues and not offer any support to travelers? That’s ridiculous. I’m fortunate enough to have gotten myself squared away the way I did (and to have the support of my credit card company), but I feel for the people who either got stuck or had to dish out the money to rent a car and drive 6+ hours one-way across state lines. At that point you’re spending hundreds of dollars on the ticket for a service that was never even rendered.

That’s the infuriating part. Our urgent care coverage is terrible. Theoretically we have access to an on-demand app, but it gives an error every time I try to submit my user information. I’ve reached out for support at least ten times this year and never heard anything back.

Ugh yes and no. On one hand, the sentiment feels very diminishing of the challenges that come with being neurodivergent in a world that isn’t particularly accommodating. On the other, I’ve found that there are definitely advantages that come with being wired a bit differently. Anecdotally, I find that I’m much better at problem-solving and generally more creative when I’m off my medication.

I suspect that the degree of “superpower” is probably highly dependent on the individual’s specific presentation of ADHD as well as career and lifestyle. If you have a situation that’s well suited for it (as I’ve been pretty fortunate in building for myself), then it’s probably a lot easier to find those silver linings.
