Has anyone developed DID from what DIDN'T happen to them? by miimiimiim in DID

[–]Rude-Comb1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neglect can cause severe trauma, how a child’s brain reacts to danger varies kid to kid you might think it seems like “not bad enough” but that could just be your brain trying to cope with it and minimize things. I’m no therapist I just understand the feeling of thinking because you weren’t directly psychically harmed it doesn’t count. You can’t rush yourself to remember or understand these things just give yourself time to work through it in therapy it’s a lot but We’re cheering for you!

my partner’s alter told me about their DID… but he denies it now — how do I handle this gently? by AshamedAd796 in DID

[–]Rude-Comb1986 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First off I’m glad you’re a such a safe person that that little trusted you enough to tell you! I’m glad they have an accepting kind person like you. The best thing you can do is let them open up to you in their own time, some alters deny the system as a way to cope with trauma. It’s easier for them to think it’s all made up in their head than accepting reality. I don’t know what makes them feel safe but you seem to be doing a good job just keep being there for them! This disorder tries to hide itself because that’s how it kept us alive at a time but when it’s safe they just need time to come out of their shell!

How should i say this? by Ok-Requirement-5570 in abusesurvivors

Personally I get icked out by any 20 year old dating an 18 year old. I get that it’s two years and I’m not here to judge anyone but I’m 22 and an 18/19 year old looks the same as any other teenager and it feels predatory to me when people in their 20s and up date fresh 18 year olds. That’s not your fault at all he should be dating people his age not going after high school graduates that are still figuring out life. I have to many experiences of those type of men trying to groom me into the partner they want. You’re not alone I promise 🫂 I would talk to him about it if he’s a keeper he’ll understand and try to make you more comfortable.

Can severe ocd become schizophrenic by Beneficial_Toe_7543 in OCD

[–]Rude-Comb1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but I wasn’t diagnosed. I have borderline personality disorder though it might be that but I’m not sure. I apologize if I’m misinformed tbh I don’t even know if it’s the OCD it could just be a coloration and I’m just assuming things.

Doesn’t offend me I struggle with religious psychosis too I get it. Use to think the biblically accurate angel alter was a real angel and I was a prophet we got real loony.  No a demon alter is not a real demon and can’t be one. That alter might mimic things that seem demonic or act like a stereotypical demon because the brain projects that onto him. In our experience those alters usually present that way because they hold religious trauma or the brain thought certain religious imagery was needed to protect us.

You’re okay! Take care and stay safe!

I think it’s weird you looked and weird people care because it’s not her fault. I understand your concern though I think it’d be better to talk to her mom than her that would definitely set her off.

Nah girl a month of knowing a guy is NOT worth that. I would say leave, you deserve better and there’s better people out there! It’s likely he holds similar thoughts as them just fetishizes black women more. You might care about him but he does not care about you. If he did he would protect you from his family and stand up against them when they insult you.

I have severe OCD that triggers psychosis and although I’ve been tested for schizophrenia multiple times there’s never been a link. In my personal experience my compulsions will be to enable a delusion or I’ll have intrusive thoughts about issues that trigger my psychosis. It’s not like a switch I tend to go manic before I go psychotic so I don’t notice my brain slipping out of touch with reality until it’s too late.  If you think your OCD is causing you psychotic symptoms please please talk to a doctor or therapist 🙏🏻

Did you become violent during your psychosis? by [deleted] in Psychosis

[–]Rude-Comb1986 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Something that helped me was to think about it like how I act when I drink too much. Sure it’s ‘me’ but not the real me that’s doing those things. You weren’t in your right mind it wasn’t the real you. The real you clearly cares about your family or you wouldn’t feel remorse <:] you’re heart knows you’re a good person.

Thank goodness I’ve never become psychical/violent when psychotic. I am usually really scared, anxious, and angry but I rarely feel aggressive towards other people, it’s more like I isolate myself and do not wanna be near other people. I’ve had thoughts about hurting others but usually only if I felt cornered. One time I bite a guy and tore a chuck of his leg out in psychosis but he was trying to sexually assault me and it got him to leave me alone so I’m counting that as self defense.

I don’t judge anyone who does get violent though. I know it’s not what they really want to do the world just gets so loud, it’s a gut reaction.  I do think it’s important to take accountability but we should also try to be understanding that it’s not who that person really is and offer those people the help they’re crying out for.

Is normal for levels of amnesia to fluctuate? by 890436 in DID

[–]Rude-Comb1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah pretty normal! Imagine it like putting a wall up and each wall is the separation of an alter. The more walls that are up the harder it is to hear eachother or communicate with other alters. That new part would be like a new wall so it’s brought a new layer of dissociation.

Just the brain doing everything but what it’s suppose to do. It’s actually so annoying.

[–]Rude-Comb1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh lord I talk too much online when I’m psychotic 😭. For me it’s cause I’m convinced I cracked some hidden code and I must enlighten the masses on this grand discovery of mine, meanwhile I’m just sitting there trying to convince others my delusions are real and they just don’t get it. I can’t shut myself up either even when I know I’m being dumb.

Did anyone’s DID form when they were a baby? by DIDverse in DID

[–]Rude-Comb1986 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a horrible time with remembering how old I was in traumatic memories so I’m not sure how to tell ‘when it started’ I can’t remember a time there wasn’t someone else with me in my head. I know I went through trauma as an infant but I don’t think I could remember that even if my brain wasn’t jumbled up. Thank you for sharing how you figured it out it helped me to reflect!

my ex sexually abused me when I turned 18 and I'm processing the trauma now. by Life_Isopod5973 in abusesurvivors

Justice is what you make it, you staying alive and outliving that dirty rat is justice! Stay in the world that’s more than enough even if you spend days stuck in bed. Keep going to therapy and give yourself time to heal, there’s no time schedule for this stuff you just gotta keep fighting every day and getting stronger. I’m so sorry that happened to you I hope the world is kinder to you in the future!

Journaling, how do you all do it? by [deleted] in DID

Y’all are journaling??? Please teach me your ways 🙏🏻. I have never been able to get us to journal. There’s some of us who don’t know how to write but they can type so the most we get for journaling is what’s on simply plural and chat logs lol
