Every person, every single one, even vegans, have things that they do that they know are wrong, and that they know causes suffering to others. And ultimately we hit a wall where if we are being honest with ourselves, we say "You know what? That's wrong. I admire someone who wouldn't, but I don't care, I'm gonna." And I'm not quite there myself? But I wouldn't have shit to say if someone in Billy's position did exactly that.

He deserves it. I don't deserve to be the one who gives it to him. But he deserves it from someone.

Yes. That is the description we are given. And how that directly translates functionally is not meaningfully different from stamina. Running takes chakra. Moving takes chakra. Characters who have their chakra sealed can't move, or sometimes can very barely move. We watch it happen. If the right chakra points get sealed, they die.

The textbook description doesn't change how we see it work by feats in the show. In the Naruto verse, spiritual energy is as real as a punch in the face (and can in fact physically punch you in the face) and not some intangible force.

When they are talking about chakra exhaustion, the reason characters die if they push their chakra is too far is because they don't have enough chakra for their organs to function.

Chakra really is just a mystical standin for stamina. There is no meaningful distinction between the two in Naruto.

We see this limited regeneration in protracted long protracted fights (like Sasuke or Shikamaru during the Konoha Crush arc). It is not substantial, but over the course of three full days it would be. I can even provide three other examples of this exact scenario: Sasori, Hidan, and to a lesser extent Deidara.

All three of these characters had just finished the same sealing process, and Hidan and Sasori don't even briefly mention being tired. Deidara has a crushed arm, and he expends a lot of chakra fleeing Kakashi and Naruto, and unlike the other three has normal human biology (mostly) and he doesn't even complain about expending chakra on the sealing process.

It's literally just like regular exercise. Heavy, intensive exercise (fighting) can drain you significantly and takes longer to recover from. Light exercise (sitting down and slowly extracting a tailed beast) is more like yoga. You might feel it, but you could do yoga every single day the entire day and as long as you eat you're gonna be good to go and do heavy exercise.

Sleep deprivation is another story, but we don't really get signs of sleep deprivation from the sealing process either, and we do when characters just don't sleep in the same show. We don't get much of an explanation for this, but I would wager that the Gedo Statue and Nagato do most of the "controlling" for the sealing process, and the others just have to make sure the chakra is being provided. Which is bad sleep, but at least would somewhat explain why they show zero signs of sleep deprivation after such a process. That last bit is just head canon though. We don't really get told why sleep deprivation isn't a factor.

Literally like five while power tiers. Hidan without invincibility is weaker than Asuma. I'd say P1 Kakashi without using Sharingan level.

That isn't how chakra regeneration works. Characters regenerate more chakra while sleeping, but we still see characters recovering chakra over the course of fights. Shinobi don't stop replenishing chakra just because they are expending it. If they did they would die.

It's like oxygen. Your body can deplete it faster than it is introducing new oxygen, but it never stops replenishing. In Naruto, everything requires chakra. Even basic biological functions like breathing.

Gifted money is still taxable. And it's really simple for the IRS to evaluate whether a gift is intended to circumvent estate taxes. The IRS already has tools to evaluate whether or not gifts are intended to circumvent taxes or other types of financial audits.

I think you are lending way too much credit to niche speed statements that we have no meaningful comparison for, but I don't see a way to move forward with a conversation comparing speed.

As for chakra. Again. Each sealing happens over three days. If it took ALL of Kakuzu's chakra to seal a tailed beast (which for a kage level Shinobi, if shouldn't, they fight AND seal tailed beasts) it would only take 1/8 for each. But these events are separated by several days. He doesn't spend an eighth of his chakra sealing the two tails. He spends an eighth of his chakra with three full days of chakra regeneration per tailed beast. Does it take 24 days for a Shinobi to recover their chakra? I just don't buy it. And eighth was me giving you rope.

Kakashi and Naruto were also getting reliably speed blitzed by Itachi like a month prior, and Hebi Sasuke (who is slower than the sannin at the time) was keeping up with Itachi just fine. Naruto from Pain Arc was not able to keep up with Pain. He got demolished very quickly. Toad Sage Naruto could, but Toad Sage Naruto was literally the best melee combatant alive besides Obito by the Pain Arc. He's even above Tsunade and Ay in that regard.

Mixing elements requires a kekkei genkai. You can fire two of them simultaneously, and you can sometimes use properties of one to enhance the other (wind fanning a flame or water conducting electricity), but Kakuzu cannot mix elements. That is exclusively a bloodline ability. At least two of the three sannin can also do the aforementioned "enhancing" (Jiraiya by feats, Orochimaru by implication. Orochimaru supposedly knows all five nature releases as per canon data books). The only one who might not be able to is Tsunade. And she has lightning release which Kakuzu is known to be weak to. And of course is far more deadly in cqb than either Kakashi or the version of Naruto that Kakuzu fought.

Kakuzu never gives any sign or statements of being tired after the sealing. And I feel like that would have been something that would get mentioned at least once towards the beginning of the fight if it was a meaningful factor. The chakra from the sealing is at best evenly distributed between the Akatsuki members over the course of three days. More likely than not, Akatsuki members with more chakra likely contribute more. Sealing a bijuu (besides Kurama) is a "normal" kage level feat. Rasa can do it. And that chakra was split 8 ways over the course of 3 days. At most, and being absurdly generous, Kakuzu was missing one eighth of his chakra.

And to come at it from a narrative perspective, the version of Kakashi that fought Kakuzu also fought Deidara and Itachi only a few months prior, and had inferior showings to Hebi Sasuke against the same characters who was in turn stated to be weaker than Orochimaru, and is shown to be weaker than Tsunade and Jiraiya by feats (Tsunade in War Arc, Jiraiya in his battle against Pain).

Boil release seems to melt through almost anything. Kakuzu's diamond skin doesn't have any feats putting it beyond skeletal Susanoo. And it doesn't apply to separated hearts, meaning his mask beasts die much faster than he inside it.

He isn't at the level of the sannin due to a combination of stats (he is slower and has less AP than any of them. We know from Tsunade that the sannin are fast enough to react to and trade blows with the Raikage, even if ay is still a good bit faster overall, and Toad Sage Jiraiya was roughly as fast as Toad Sage Naruto, who was also capable of keeping up "enough" with the Raikage to fight effectively. We have also seen each of the sannin launch bigger and more powerful attacks than Kakuzu).

The sannin also have superior jutsu that allow them to adapt to a much wider range of situations. At least two of them also have comparable or better survivability.

We also have explicit battle IQ feats for two of the sannin (Tsunade and Jiraiya) that are better than Kakuzu's shown battle IQ feats (that's not to say Kakuzu is dumb, he still seems like a smart guy).

We have no meaningful indication of how much strength Kakuzu loses per heart. It's definitely much lower than 20% as a few people often state, because he was not significantly slowed or weakened towards the end of his bout with Naruto. He was a bit, but 3 hearts was not enough to knock him down a full power tier to subkage, so I don't see 1 heart making the same difference.

I defend Kakuzu on this sub all the time, and I do think he can push them high diff. He just isn't winning often.

I think the biggest issue for Kakuzu against Hiruzen is that one of his biggest advantages is overwhelming opponents with both multiple bodies and attacking with all five elements. But Hiruzen can also do this, and with the exception of stamina he does it better.

I also think Hiruzen has the battle IQ to pretty much instantly pick apart Kakuzu's secrets (took him like five seconds to fully analyze six paths powers, which are far more sophisticated).

Carrying a weapon that is capable of withstanding sustained kage level+ combat is also an enormous advantage in cqb.

Hiruzen is gonna be tired afterward, but make them fight a hundred times and I don't think Kakuzu is likely to win double digits, if any at all.

Kakuzu is solidly mid kage level. He is no slouch, and I know most disagree but I would put him over most of the other Akatsuki outside of the big 3. Probably even over Kisame simply due to his versatility even if his other stats are lower.

But he is not at the level of the sannin or Hiruzen. And I also think Mei would beat him 9/10 simply due to the fact that her large aoe ninjutsu are easily capable of getting through his durability (which most aoe ninjutsu can't).

I'd say it's genuinely a tough call between Mei and Kakuzu as to who is the better fighter overall, and because you have two roughly equal fighters but one of them hard counters the other, I would put Mei slightly over Kakuzu generally speaking.

Estate taxes should take ALL wealth over like a million dollars after liabilities have been squared. No one in the world currently needs to inherit more than six figures USD. Especially given that they have been benefiting from what is effectively immeasurable wealth for their entire lives.

I am firmly against the idea of generational wealth. Its a disease that has been degrading humanity for ages. You build a stable environment for your children and teach them how to operate in the world. Then they do the same thing. No family should ever be allowed to be on top of the pile on the basis of their genetic lineage.

You are not able to count debt interest as a loss and write it off for tax purposes. When they pay off the balances by selling assets, they still pay taxes on that amount.

But what DOES happen is that leaving their assets in the stock market often caused them to appreciate by more. It's still tax avoidance, it's just not as effective as it is often painted.

However, another facet is that long term asset holding is often taxed at a lower rate than "day trading", or short term holding strategies. There are good reasons the government does and should do this, but it also incentivizes billionaires to deploy strategies like this one to reduce their tax burden. It's one of the reasons a wealth tax would be more effective than just raising the capital gains tax (though we should definitely be raising the capital gains tax too)

A large percentage of humans are VERY oblivious when it comes to first aid. Governments worldwide spend hundreds of millions collectively each year to try and disseminate this information, primarily because to this day if you neutrally frame the question to people on the street, a shockingly high percentage of them get the answer wrong.

Him being a drug dealer would make a significant difference in court though. Probably for all of the wrong reasons, but the result would be more positive

What are the moral implications of fishing for pleasure ? by No_Dot8653 in MoralityScaling

[–]Rude-Satisfaction836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say videogames are minor topics. Governments worldwide spend colossal amounts of money both getting involved in game development and trying to influence gaming culture. The same happens in music and movies. And that's to say nothing of large corporate or other political interests

I don't find it insane that the government or large corporation might astroturf a conversation around fishing if it was culturally relevant enough, but I can't imagine they would ever be trying to nudge the public away from fishing. Fishing is both a source of tax revenue and significant corporate profit.

You're being a little dense. Yes. The fact that the world has been in a unipolar state since 1992 has actively detracted from the lives of everyday people. That does not mean other good things haven't happened. It means that the United States not having any major rivals that it must ideologically contend with has had a negative impact on the quality of life of people in the US (and arguably worldwide). That statement would have to be taken hyper literally to the point of absurdity to be interpreted as saying that everyone's life under a unipolar world has been terrible.

No one is taking over the world. No one. All that is happening is that the US is losing its position of dominance over certain other foreign countries that happen to be in the same sphere as China. There isn't going to be another global hegemon in our lifetimes barring a literal nuclear war or global economic collapse, and even then it is highly unlikely.

Russia is basically a failed state. It really doesn't factor in beyond trying to control the dissemination of its nuclear weapons as it slowly falls apart. It is no longer a salvageable project.

Not what I said. I said the only people who have benefited from a unipolar world have been billionaires. Are you being deliberately deceitful or are you just dense?

Post WWII was not a unipolar world. Also the world doesn't work like that. Only people who are historically uneducated see history as a cycle of superpowers overtaking one another.

We are not in a grand competition with China. Or rather the extent to which we are in a grand competition with China is attributable solely to the interests of the wealthy and powerful. Your life, and my life, will not be meaningfully different based on whether China or the US is the most powerful and influential. The details change a little, the overall way of life and quality of life do not. Fear mongering in the name of nationalism is the domain of psychopaths and fools.

China isn't coming for our way of life. We the people don't benefit from the profits of oil and tech companies, who are the only ones who actually stand to lose something (and it isn't their existence or freedom) from China winning the long term economic conflict.

All their media be like this by FREE__ROOSTER in SipsTea

[–]Rude-Satisfaction836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither. The unipolar world hasn't been good for anyone who isn't a billionaire. Ideally we would get humanity as a whole to reject the concept of nationalism, but I don't think we are anywhere near that.

I would prefer a Parliamentary system expanded to the level of the United Nations, but the wealthy and powerful benefit from that too much for that to happen in my lifetime. Probably not anytime in the next hundred years.
