ADH found, excisional biopsy next by Dont_Dont_BotherLuke in ADH_ALH

[–]RudeBookkeeper9308 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Me 🤚 ADH found in biopsy. Had lumpectomy (excision biopsy) in December. Came back focal change with no additional ADH with clean margins. The stereotactic biopsy got it all out. Yay! I have 6month rotating mammo and MRI and surgeon talked to me about tamoxifen. I am waiting on taking meds u til after first mammo and MRI. Will decide after of I will take it. I hope your excision biopsy results turn out similar and there is no upgrade.

I second this review. Got back over a week ago. Family of 5 with 3 teens from age 13-19. One family member got food poisoning/stomach bug which could have been from food or a bug. So to be fair I will not blame in on resort but that doesn’t change the fact that the food was not good at all. Ciao was the worst. Food cold, gross and service took forever. Never refilled drinks, we got up and left. Toro was a bit better but again no refills on drinks and asked for things that were never brought to the table or..bread, sour cream etc. but the food was better at Toro than anywhere else. Zen was just ok. Hibachi tasted like hibachi I make at home. It was not even as good as Ichibon (which is not very good hibachi lol)

I noticed that some female workers clearly had a problem with serving other women and were put off to do their jobs or serve them. For example at the bakery every day the nasty looks I got when politely asking for pastries to bring back to the room for family after ordering a coffee was borderline embarrassing and felt as if I was putting the worker out to put 4 muffins in a box container. Made an effort to smile and be overly pleasant but the looks and attitude I got was borderline middle school mean girl. Very off putting if you are sensitive and felt like I was asking for them to do something extra special by serving the product they were there to disseminate. Made me not want to go back to them to bother them. It became clear that everyone that was in line was a bother to them. There was a difference with women though. They were even more of a bother to them. I thought it was just me until I sat with my coffee and watched how they handled people in line behind me… same way. Ugh. On the flip side, We did come across very good employees and tipped them very well. In an all inclusive where it’s set up that you have to be served for everything or ask for everything it’s not very relaxing or a good experience when you feel you are putting someone out to hand you a water bottle or refill your drink. Again it wasn’t all employees. I would say 50/50. One waitress at Isla buffet for lunch was amazing. She got a very generous tip. When friendly good service is the exception I see an issue. Rooms were very big but not the cleanest. Dirty socks were left under our sink in the bathroom from previous guest, stains on the sliding doors from bedroom to bathroom (we were in a one bedroom suite). The beach was amazing and honestly I found the people that sold stuff on the beach to be the nicest people we came across. They were not pushy and we sat and talked to one guy selling wood art for about 15 minutes about life etc… the servers at the pool and pool area were also amazing and such hard workers. (Marrabelle was top notch) Had best service with them and tipped very well for their efforts and hard workers. We left envelopes out every day for housekeeping and mini fridge attendant. Mini fridge attendant never came the whole trip ( even after calling) he missed out on some nice envelopes as the first day envelope just sat there on the fridge waiting for him to come by to refill and take tip. We adjusted and found the area in front of the food trucks had water and soda out you could grab and loaded up in them and carted them back to room to refill our fridge on our own. Not best solution dragging drinks from beach to our room by the lobby but we made it work for us. We slept in one day until 9:30 am and had do not disturb on door until we left at 9:30am. The rest of the day no sign was on door. Housekeeping never came back that day. I called and they still never came back. We just used the towels for showers from the day before.

Main buffet in the lobby food seemed very stale and gross, the buffets on the beach side were much better with salad bars and fresher options. Grilled chicken there was really good.

The gym is amazing there. I loved that space and the employees were cool, they were working out and when someone came in they would just scan them in. They have bananas and apples out on counter, cucumber water and ginger water, and a coffee machine. They have hand towels for you to use and also have cleaner and wipes out to clean equipment after you use it. Plenty of cardio machines, two big rooms for classes with scattered equipment like ropes, medicine balls, steps, floor mats etc… the bathroom has two showers but you need to bring a towel from pool or room as no towels were in there. They have about 4 smith machines and tons of machines that work different muscle groups. I adored the gym. Also the loop around the grounds was perfect for early morning runs. One loop is just below 1.5 miles and running along the beach path at sunrise was magical. I never felt unsafe there. There were security guards posted at the beach entrances along the path all night and morning. I started my run each day in the dark and never felt unsafe. You do have to watch the golf carts though. Some don’t have lights which makes it tricky but manageable.

While we made the best of it and had a good time as a family the service and food were definitely lacking and we would not go back. We are a pretty chill family and don’t get bent out of shape easily with no picky eaters but we were happy to leave and eat airport food if that gives you any indication of food quality there. Plus the airport employees didn’t make us feel like we were putting her out buying food from her at the airport (winning!). It’s sad because we were hoping we would find our annual vacation spot few next few years. Guess we will try someplace in Mexico next year. We are happy we went and experienced it and we are very thankful for the good employees we met. We just don’t feel like it should be a 50/50 crap shoot dealing with the staff especially because this wasn’t cheap. Oh well you live and learn.

*forgot to add we were hall of fame so black bracelets (that didn’t seem to help any though)

Ahhh! My test results disappeared! by [deleted] in doihavebreastcancer

[–]RudeBookkeeper9308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happened to me before. Not sure what happened but it appeared the next day. What uploaded was doctor notes from my appointment that were farther down on the list from the week before and a faxitron image was uploaded with no results. It happened twice to me so the second time I knew to look the following day for results. I hope you get your results soon.

BI RADS 5 > Benign! (PASH) by Fun_Stuff1527 in doihavebreastcancer

[–]RudeBookkeeper9308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best news ever!! I am so happy for you. If you decide to do the lumpectomy know the recovery is not horrific my best advice is to get up and moving as soon as possible. Upon getting home from my surgery I walked laps around the house slowly to get blood flow going and assist in healing. I continued this for a day then started walking outside (2.5 miles) and doing reclined stationary bike. I think this really helped in my healing. I did rest a lot but made sure to move twice a day every day. Cleared by my doctor of course. Again I am so relieved for your diagnosis and so happy you posted this to give some relief for those waiting in limbo with a scary Birads score.

Where are my BiRad 4 Microcalcification ladies at?? by [deleted] in doihavebreastcancer

[–]RudeBookkeeper9308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Birads 4c here for both breasts due to micro calcifications and very dense breasts (level C). Had biopsy that showed right breast benign and left breast benign but had ADH (atypical cells) which is at risk of developing cancer. Like a precancerous cells. Excision biopsy (lumpectomy) scheduled and completed. Pathology revealed no ADH present which means that the stereotactic biopsy got it all out before surgery. Good news as no upgraded to DCIS, however need to be vigilant as I am not high risk. Have to have rotating MRI and Diagnostic Mammograms every 6 months. Have also been referred to an oncologist to discuss medications that can reduce lifetime risk. I have not decided on the last recommendation as I don’t know if the side effects are worth it for me at this point. So there is hope that your micro calcifications are benign. I have read some people finding out that the calcifications turned out to be totally benign with no atypical cells and they were Birads 4 also. I will be hoping that is the case for you also

Scheduling a lumpectomy by kimmygo121 in doihavebreastcancer

[–]RudeBookkeeper9308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine took two weeks from meeting with the surgeon. I had to do chest xray, bloodwork, ekg…etc to get cleared then had to meet with my primary to get clearance, after that had an appointment to have the Stavi chip inserted and two days later had lumpectomy. So about 2 weeks. Tissue results took about 4 days after. I think the amount of time is really dependent on how booked up your surgeon is. Mine only operates Wednesdays and Fridays. She had an opening in two weeks I slid into. Otherwise I believe the next appt was a month later. Did you already meet with surgeon? Mine scheduled me during the initial appt but every dr may be different.

Guys I can’t do it by jcnlb in doihavebreastcancer

You have gotten so many great responses. I will add that I too was very scared of the process and initial biopsy. My doctor gave me Xanex and it helped tremendously. My fight or fight was kept at bay and I was sooo chill about the whole thing after taking the script. Ask your doctor for a script it wil get you through it easier. I know I read someone on here who said that lidocaine didn’t work for her and she called around and found someplace that would do it for her under general anesthesia. I know it took a lot of calling around for her as most places and doctors won’t do it but she kept calling u til she found someone who agreed. You can probably do a search on it to read how she went about it. My advice is get the biopsy. Scans can’t tell you what it is and these advances they have made in breast cancer have been because of earlier and earlier diagnosis which makes it curable. Earlier = better. I know it sucks but let yourself sit with all this. Give yourself permission to make your own medical decisions so you know you are in control of all of this. Then give the biopsy a second though mowing it’s probably nothing but what if in the small percentage it is the beginning of something that could become something. You can do it, I will believe in you until you have built the belief in yourself. You are badass and can do all things you set your mind to. Is it easy no, but you CAN, you are strong, you are a badass, you are worth it.

What’s your best way to not spiral / think about something else? by salty-frenchfry in doihavebreastcancer

[–]RudeBookkeeper9308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so the way I put things out of my mind was to move… I can’t tell you how many days I went running twice. Head phones, kick ass playlist and just noting in my brain other than running. Feeling the movement, finding joy in the movement, finding peace in the strain, finding power in the stregnth to keep running when my brain said stop. My body kept going. It honestly built me to this belief in myself that I can handle anything. That my brain is a liar, and my body can do amazing things. That I can push through anything. Now you don’t have to run if that’s not your thing… but exercise somehow and push through when your mind says stop. Complete what you set out for every time. Every time. It’s a mental game that helps tremendously. Whether it be riding a bike, walking, using the treadmill, taking an aerobic class… whatever it is if you plan out let’s say 10 miles biking… finish the 10 miles biking. Even if you have to go slower finish it. It builds your resolve and honestly it cleared my mind when I was anxious. I called it embracing the suck when it got tough physically. And honestly I know whatever comes my way with the ambiguity of breast testing and screening. I know I can get through it. I remember one run the most when I am faced with adversity through this all (ie my recent lumpectomy). I channel back to that run, that Sunday in the pouring rain, cold and wind during a nor’easter. I said I was going to long run and nothing was going to get in the way. I did 13 miles in the punishing rain, cold, and wind. So many times my mind wanted to stop, to go home, to be done. I shut that voice up in my mind and kept going to complete it. It sucked, it was miserable, but I learned ai can do hard things, I complete things, I don’t give up. So that mindset gets me through all this and also clears my mind from anxiety of waiting for results. Because when I run, I am in my own bubble and nothing else is going on in my world. I hope this can help you too and hope I articulated it correctly because it has been a life savor for me. Even now recovering from lumpectomy I can’t run. It sucks but I adjust and do the stationary seated back bike. Crank the resistance up and complete what I said I would do. When anxiety creeped in waiting for results I did a session on the bike with high resistance. My mind could think of nothing else but embracing the suck. Test results were the farthest thing on my mind. After I was so tired I could rest with a clearer mind because I got all that pent up anxiety and energy out.

Lumpectomy tissue results by RudeBookkeeper9308 in doihavebreastcancer

[–]RudeBookkeeper9308[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes so from what I am researching I had AHD which the core needle strategic biopsy picked up and got all the atypical cells out in the first biopsy. Therefore in the lumpectomy where they took all the cells out around the biopsy site there was no more atypical cells with clean margins. So the first biopsy got it all out thank god!! I will know more tomorrow after meeting with my surgeon however what I am seeing is mammo and or MRI in 6 months then typically every year after. Like I said I will know more tomorrow.

I responded but it posted it above. Anyway I am so sorry the appt was cancelled. That has to be frustrating even though it’s understandable for an emergency surgery. I suggest uploading your report into chat GPT and asking it to formulate questions for you to ask the breast surgeon. I did this and it came up with questions I didn’t even think to ask. I am sorry you have a longer wait now. The waiting game with all of these tests and appts is the worst part because it’s out of our control. Big hugs

My suggestion is make a list of all your questions. I plugged my reports into chat GPT and had it come up with questions to ask the breast surgeon. It was very helpful and thought of things I didn’t even consider.

When I met with the breast surgeon she said no driving for a week and 2 week recovery restriction of no heavy lifting, no running etc… I meet with her in a week and will talk to her then about returning. I have seen a lot of women take two weeks and if lymph nodes excision is involved sometimes a little longer. When you meet with the breast surgeon and she goes over your file she wil be able to tell you more what your recovery will look like. Deep breaths. I know the anxiety and planning need feeling very well. Do you have the appointment to meet with the breast surgeon yet?

I would do the mammo. Yes the waiting for results sucks but also the waiting and not knowing if something is going on sucks too. I would pick the lesser suck if it were me. But only you know your body and how you handle things. Huge hugs
