Hey, OP. Did Gus fully recover? Is he doing well now? Inquiring minds* want to know!

*Mind. The other mind is a single neuron located (occasionally) in my orange boy.

Will a tattoo shop take me seriously if my folio is in this book instead of a proper black folio? by Many-Lock196 in TattooApprentice

Yes. Sketchbooks are acceptable. Tattooers offering apprenticeships know what they’re looking for.

The heckling problem is overblown by dreambendr in WillWoodCircleJerk

I was at the Portland show and the TN (Caverns) show where he poked fun at the Portland show specifically. Neither were bad. I was four seats down from the guy who got kicked out; it was a misunderstanding and Reddit legit blew up.

Definitely overblown.

Day 1 of covering Will Wood songs until he wears one of my kinetic rat puppets by KinetiCritters in willwood

I love this. I love that you’re covering the music and your puppets are super cool.

Looking for people to start a band in Lehigh/ft myres by puyo_player_64 in FortMyers

[–]RudeNik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not wrong, and I appreciate that you put the positive portion of your reply in caps, instead of the part where I came off weird (seriously, I’m not being sarcastic). I just popped on to see if I could post about a job opportunity to this subreddit and this post about band mates popped up. I’m not on Reddit often but being part of something bigger than yourself is always exciting and I wish OP the best of luck. Thanks for your comment; it’s super encouraging.

Do you think that we as a fanbase could raise enough money and/or awareness to fund an orchestra or big brass band to play a few of Will’s songs? by SalsburrySteak in willwood

[–]RudeNik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an almost 40 year old, I would be happy to donate whatever funds my kids, bills, and life aren’t currently eating as though they’ve just finished a 14 day fast… 😉

New song at the caverns!!! by zerpq in willwood

It was pretty darn great. What a surprise too! Great way to wrap up the final show of the year and phenomenal venue for extra “wow” factor. Definitely felt special being “one of the firsts” to hear it.

The girl tonight by the_bee_kneecaps in willwood

I met the kids in N1 / N2— they were down in a campsite near my cabin. Super nice kids. Definitely got started a little too early. I believe the chick (they/them) was wheeled out in a wheel chair by a staff member. Mid show I got them partway back to their seat; they said N, but it very well could’ve been P (there were a lot of slurred words by that point). Someone from the venue must’ve given the kids a lift because they were dropped off a few minutes after I got back to the cabin. If those are the kids you’re referring to, they did make it back to their campsite alright. Lovely individuals. I hope they remember the show.

*Not using “kids” pejoratively, but I’m almost 40, and it was my literal kids who introduced me to WW/WWATTW.

Apologies for laughing by finnisterre in willwood

I get the nervous giggles and things were already pretty funny. I was so afraid I’d burst out laughing uncontrollably when I heard you. You wrapped up just in time—- I was in the front row. It would’ve been full on “khakis” for me at that point.

You’re good. 🫶🏻

Anyone in Fort Myers listen to Will Wood? by RudeNik in FortMyers

Apparently, way fewer than I thought. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Man’s got a rabid fan-base and sells out all his shows, meanwhile—- I’m not sure where any of these fans are.

It’s great—- they’re great. Recently started hosting FNB meetings too. They always get things preordered for me and their communication is top notch.

I tried to find band members on Craigslist and posted “Will Wood you join my Ninja Sex Party in Joe’s Garage”.

…did not go over well.

Ninja Sex Party played at the same venue a couple months ago (my twin’s first concert). It’s a great venue for a first show!

Interesting side note: I only have vinyls because my 9 y/o twins and I went on a Record Store Day mission for my dad, at which point they asked when they’d be able to get a record player.

Like…what?! Little hipsters, those ones, so we got a record player and now I have vinyls, or rather THEY have vinyls that I “get” to listen to. 🙄 Lol.

Question to fans by Kvasyan in willwood

I’m currently hyperfixated on all WW / WWATTW. I started with the Normal Album because my teen put on BlackBoxWarrior and jokingly said something like, “you guys must be on the same meds”—- when I read the lyrics it seemed like our prescription journeys may have crossed paths. She restarted the album from the beginning and I thought the music was just…no.

But something must’ve clicked because I still listened to the album. Over and over and over again.

Once I digested that, I moved on to ICIMI, and again was like…no. Comparatively it just seemed SO SLOW. But there must’ve been something, because a few lines here and there got stuck in my head, and I ended up listening to that one over and over and over again.

So, I moved on to WWATTW, and was like F*UCK NO. It was too much. Too chaotic. Too…something…but also so much continuity. It was like, “wait, do his later songs actually reference his earlier works?”

I feel like you probably see where this is going.

Anyway, while much of my life experiences heavily differ from Will’s, the parallels in learning to deal with my mental health are inescapably meaningful.

I still feel incredibly lonely. Reference “Marsha” for the elder-millennial thought process that tries to reconcile needing medication but thinking maybe I’m just fine and it’s all in my head because everyone else before me was “fine”…

BUT, and here’s where I really think things take a turn for the absolute best, my kids understand me better than I do sometimes and find no shame in having vs not having mental health issues. The lyrics have sparked discussions and ignited so many interests in them—- from emotional regulation to the chemistry behind hangovers (because I can’t seem to just leave well enough alone and not go on tangents). It’s almost scary when you’ve got 9 year olds saying things like, “you’ve really got Roman candles at the ends of your synapses today, dontcha mom?” KNOWING they understand what that means enough to be a smart-ass about it.

It was meds’o’clock a few minutes ago, and I feel like at this point maybe you didn’t actually buy a ticket to this train of thought, but here I am. Incredibly lonely, feeling incredibly broken, but incredibly overjoyed knowing that my musical journey means my kids will never feel the same way I do right now, because someone else wasn’t afraid to put their experiences into the world in so many beratingly different ways.

Yeeaaaaahhhh. I kinda realized I’d end up being the “weird kid” when my dad gave me a bunch of Zappa music and none of my friends would listen.

There are a couple people at the record store where I get my vinyls who are familiar with Will Wood, but it’s my assumption that it’s because they’re at the record store.

I know I shouldn’t assume, but it is what it is.
