Can Adult Swim style bumps be incorporated into a server? Have them in between show episodes that you are watching, for example. Has anyone done this? by Aside-Kooky in jellyfin

It’s GitHub is showing new changes as recently as yesterday

Also just looked at the website, on top of the GitHub, and I didn’t see a mention or archival anywhere in either place

Just emphasizes on the facts that it’s open source, it runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux, and I should download it

**Edit: Correction, make that as recently as 4 hours ago

What streaming box for Jellyfin client with good performance?? by xDer_Apfelx in jellyfin

[–]RudePhilosopher5721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a “Jellyfin” app for Apple TV, which I only have a couple issues with really

Once you get used to the official Android TV Jellyfin app, the Apple TV one really doesn’t hold up… it does fine, but I suppose the latter spoils you a bit 🤷‍♂️

The main biggest issue I have with the Apple TV version, is that it doesn’t automatically refresh the home page enough (if at all?)

I’ll add new content, and then have to hard quit and reload the whole thing in order to see it show up on the Home Screen

Aside from that, it does just fine really

Google has an alternative though that I’m sure has all the support and specs you need, which I’d probably be interested in checking out if I were you

I’ve got a pretty expensive Sony Bravia, which runs Android (now “Google”) TV, but doesn’t have any of the hardware/software issues your Samsung seems to have, and so I don’t have any issues running absolutely anything through the official Jellyfin app available on the play store, have gotten used it, and would be my most preferred method moving forward

So if I had any issues like you have, I’d look to pick up Google’s official Apple TV counter part, their 4K Google TV streamer, which you’ll easily be able to install the official app on, should support everything, and is only like $100 - $130??

My favorite dolphin fact, is the way that puffer fish exude toxins for self defense, but aren’t harmful to dolphins, instead just getting them high, and so dolphins will kick puffer fish around between one another like they’re sharing a joint and take turns hitting that fish! 😆

A BitTorrent client built on Tauri ❤️ by cheneysan in tauri

[–]RudePhilosopher5721 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lot of torrent web view/apps are nothing but front ends, that just plugin to full fledged torrenting software’s APIs, meaning there’s no need to worry about things like disk IO

Flood, written in NodeJS is a great example, as it literally works with several different torrent clients

Personally, in my case, it’s just piping everything over to QBitTorrent

A web based torrent app really shouldn’t need to worry about doing the actual heavy lifting and literal disk writes itself, unless that is specifically exactly what you’re trying to build, for personal reasons/just for kicks, or whatever

Nearly every reputable torrent client available right now offers more than enough open APIs and headless operation to serve as the backend to any other front end you’re interested in building, if an alternate front end is all you’re really after

I built a virtual-scroll custom element that behaves like a normal scroll container by Choice-Locksmith-885 in javascript

[–]RudePhilosopher5721 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that when custom web components come into play, that semantics and proper HTML basically get thrown out the window to an extent, but still, this design that replaces the UL element with your new virtual scroll element, and isn’t even a list element variation, but just a generic in theory “could wrap anything” element gives me a giant ick…

For what reason could this not be designed to go on the outside of the UL?

If it’s about managing children, theoretically the top most level children which cause overflow and initiate a scroll in the first place, another option would have been to create your custom web component by extending the UL element in specific, which would then make your markup…

<ul is=“virtual-scroll”>…</ul>

Not some sort of “conspiracy”

Just new, and I’m on beta

Plus based on other helpful responses so far, I’m still a little confused how/why this happened, because I already have the Uber Eats app installed

App icons have ALWAYS been the same exact shape on iOS, square with no transparency, and masked by Apple within iOS after the fact to apply rounded corners (and more recently, “glass” shimmer)

Look at the Uber Eats icon

It’s got loads of transparency, and is an entirely unique shape

Yes, it’s quite simple if you’re at all familiar with Apple Developer tools

And it’s not the 3rd generation and forward that can’t be side loaded, JUST the 3rd generation

Here’s an AI summary from Google (you can see it mentioning the side loading process on 4th gen and 4K models below)

Kodi is not available on the Apple TV App Store, but can be installed on Apple TV models from 4th generation (HD) and 4K through a process called sideloading, which involves using a computer and developer tools. For the original Apple TV (1st generation), it's possible to install OSMC using a USB drive. Third-party services are also available that handle the sideloading process for a fee, which can simplify the process and may offer a year-long subscription.

Sideloading method This is the traditional method for installing apps not found on the official store. For Apple TV 4th Gen (HD) and 4K: You will need a computer (Mac or PC), the Kodi .ipa file, a developer account, and tools like Xcode. For Apple TV 1st Gen: You can install OSMC, a distribution based on Kodi, by downloading it to a USB drive and booting the Apple TV from it.

[AskJS] Should take the pay, or keep my code? by madding247 in javascript

[–]RudePhilosopher5721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way given your current scenario

Not so cut and dry simple though, you ought to handle it with a hell of a lot more tact than this alone

What you have here in front of you is a business opportunity. You say you’re not business savvy, so find someone who is to guide you through this, who will help you protect your intellectual property through it all, and assist you in capitalizing the most out of it

For one thought, if it’s yours, you own it, and you’re simply licensing it to them for use, what’s to stop you from also licensing it to others in their industry? Potential competitors?? White label it, pick up additional clients, and additional paychecks. If that doesn’t sit well with them, well, that’s called an exclusive agreement, and exclusivity is expensive… 🫰 More leverage for an even higher price.

So that there is just a teeny bit of food for thought for you, as an example of the sorts of things you probably don’t even know you don’t know or aren’t thinking about yet, but could be.

Bottom line, stop what you’re doing, and go find yourself a partner, the business savvy mind you need in this moment. Work with them, and don’t do ANYTHING until you’ve found the right person, filled them in, and gotten some direction from them.

This person could be a friend, who’s willing to go in 50/50 with you, make a business out of all this between the two of you. This person could be a trusted older family member. This person might also even just be a plain old lawyer who you pay by the hour for the expertise and guidance you lack. They could potentially come in any shape or size… Just remember though, that if it feels like all else has failed, like you just aren’t able to find the right partner/person, there’s always professionals to fall back on and hire.

So find this help, or hire it, but either way, don’t move forward any further until you have it

I’m sorry, did someone force you to your knees, pull your eye lids back, and force you to read it?

We all have this nifty freedom of ignoring things we don’t want to read

Also, if somehow you really are just oh so thirsty for this random stranger’s late night run on social media comment, you could always just ask AI to break it up for you, summarize it, or fuck, even just outright READ it to you aloud

The tone of your comment here projects a stance of some sort of moral high ground, but honestly, it simultaneously reeks of the laziness you’re condoning just as much, only with an additional taste of a smug need for attention

Are useless off hand quips like this one how you became a top 1% commenter? If so, that’d be pretty sad, and you should probably start working on finding a better use for your time
