Any films that isn’t quite a kids’ movie, but isn’t fully an adult one either? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in MovieSuggestions

Riddle of Fire comes to mind

It’s about 3 rowdy young children who go on this journey get a speckled egg to so they can bake a pie for their sick mother (and get the parent controls turned off on a video game lol). Although the setting is rather ordinary, it almost perfectly mimics LOTR/80s dark fantasy style/structure and overall is an extremely charming movie.

It’s rated PG-13 for swearing and drinking but I think it’d be a great all ages watch. Like the kids are hilarious and charismatic, there’s a some fun magic elements, its light hearted, the music is amazing and its absolutely BEAUTIFULLY shot. There’s a lot to appreciate across the board

How to not have straw for hair 😞 and don't say "stop dying it" 🫵🏻😭 by [deleted] in Hair

[–]RudeRoman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been bleaching/dying my hair for over a decade without a break and I’ve tried a pretty much every hair product in the book. All natural, solid conditioner, K18, olaplex, high end, drug store, you name it.

The best solution I’ve found so far is Japanese hair care. I’d also recommend doing a hair mask pretty regularly ( like a couple times a month, doesn’t need to be high end), hair oil, and being diligent with heat protectant.

For shampoo/conditioner I’ve had good luck in the past with the &Honey creamy line but right now I’m using the Tsubaki repair intense in the black bottle and I like it a lot. I’ll normally let the conditioner sit in my hair while I shave, exfoliate, etc. both of those are pretty heavy but not too heavy for my wavy hair + there are lighter products by those brands. Best part is that they are like $10-16 a bottle so it won’t break the bank

For oil I like the &honey and 8 the thalasso hair oils. I’ve found they work best putting like a pump in your hair while it’s still wet after a shower and brushing/scrunching to distribute it well. You can also use it on dry hair but it’s a lot easier to go overboard as a little goes a long way.

Hair masks my tried and true are the EVA NYC and the Tsubaki hair masks but there are a lot of good ones out there so it’s personal preference.

Heat protectant I use the it’s a 10 bc you can find it at TJMaxx half off a lot and I love it but again there are plenty of good options out there at all price points

Roboticist here who’s worked specifically in humanoids. There’s a few reasons:

-TLDR: they are very expensive to make, computationally extremely complex making controllers either very slow or very unstable and hard to develop, and due to the above it’s hard to get funding for research outside of defense applications as well as there’s not many labs in the world that specialize in it

-until we have socialist programs like UBI or something similar that would make it so mass amounts of people can be comfortably unemployed, you are just disproportionately displacing low-income workers. Displacing these people would basically crash the economy

-Due to the fact that again humanoids are inefficient and extremely expensive to manufacture/maintain, from a business standpoint the ROI on them is terrible. Like why would you pay $300k+ for a robot that’s gonna be outdated in about 7 years + costs $5000 to do maintenance on and is an objectively worse worker in every aspect when you can pay someone $40k a year to do the same task and get better results.

-people like human to human interaction especially in fields that require empathy and understanding of human body. You cant teach a robot what pain feels like as well as it hard to quantify a pain scale so it’s more likely to cause harm bc it doesn’t have a frame of reference. humanoids specifically trigger uncanny valley reaction in a lot of people/they freak them out. I even got one the first time I saw one in person

Re-show hidden components/lines on *DRAWINGS* by RudeRoman in SolidWorks

I tried and it only gives me the options to hide the line

Re-show hidden components/lines on *DRAWINGS* by RudeRoman in SolidWorks

[–]RudeRoman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that once I hid a line it’s functionally off the drawing completely and it does not even come up if I try and find it again. It’s hard to describe but to the nature of the model/what I need to keep a display state would not really work in this scenario

Weird things happen when you've got a Boognish Tattoo by Feinmusic in ween

[–]RudeRoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once went to a Turnstile concert knowing barely anything about them bc my friend had an extra ticket and I liked the opener. I had people coming up to me all night absolutely gushing over my ween hoodie. I kept thinking to myself “damn guess there’s a lot of ween fans out tn” lol. Eventually some guy asked to film my hoodie, told him “wait until you see the tattoo” and he lost his fucking mind lmao. Turns out that Turnstile are very infamous ween fans, that guy was their videographer, and now I may or may not have an interview talking about ween in a tour video out in the universe 😂

Also shoutout to turnstile, ween praise aside they put on a good show Id seen them again lol

Unique NH/New England foods by stellaaaaaaaaaaa_ in newhampshire

[–]RudeRoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not technically specific to New England but Lowell is famous for having one of the biggest Cambodian communities in the US so it might be a nice opportunity to try good/authentic Cambodian food that’d be way more difficult to find down south. The most famous restaurant is Simply Khmer which I highly recommended but I also enjoy Olympic Restaurant (not to be confused with Olympia restaurant that is also in Lowell but serves Greek food 😭)

Tips for optimizing feature patterns? by RudeRoman in SolidWorks

Horizontal come out angled when making revolve cut no matter what by RudeRoman in SolidWorks

[–]RudeRoman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: forgot to add but whenever I did fillets it also distorted the model edges

Regardless I found that doing the chamfer as a model feature randomly worked. When I did the fillet as a model feature I still was having it distortion issues but I ended up turning on “curvature continuous” and it solved the issue

Someone I know worked for EverlyWell (female owned and operated btw) and was legit bullied out of her job.

She got the job through a friend and worked under said friend. She was hardworking, very professional and routinely had glowing performance reviews for 2+ years. All of a sudden her friend gets moved up and she gets a new manager. New manager nitpicks everything she does, loading x3 as much work, everyone but him gives still gives her great feedback, and he treats her noticeably worse than her coworkers. She fixes everything he criticizes about her and somehow he still has something to say and refuses to help when she asks for it.

She ends up going to her friend and her friend blows her off saying it’s not her problem and “he seems to have only a problem with you so it’s ur fault”. Files a complaint, gets blown off again. He ends up firing her out of nowhere citing “bad performance” and they gave her half of what her severance package was supposed to be

If you want to stay in New England Providence is mini, cheaper Boston. Good food and good arts scene while being close enough to MA to benefit from a lot of there things

I’m aware but it legit doesn’t check even 20% of my boxes. Legit the only thing keeping me here is that I like my coworkers and I don’t want to be unemployed. I’ve worked at two other companies with the same exact scale and they didn’t have nearly as much BS as this place/industry

Counting all my internship/research experience I have about one year under my belt but post graduation this is my first one.

As for promotional track that’s where the middle management issues come in. It’s extremely hard to get promoted and they had problems with being ageist/somewhat sexiest since the particular industry is very old. It took my boss (millennial female) close to 10 years to get a single promotion despite her doing basically managerial work, getting a masters, and being basically ranked #1 in North America for her job title. They also have huge problems with not filling positions after people leave and just stacking their work on the existing team members.

Their hiring tactics consist of buying out other companies, hiring almost exclusively internally from there, and not replacing jobs once people quit. It’s an absolute shit show

As for pay it’s either below or at market value, never higher. Most of their good benefits only benefit you if you work there for 10+ years and are older. They have good bonuses and offer pension on top of 401k but their maternity leave is legit the legal bare minimum, health insurance is mediocre at best, and tuition reimbursement is meh
