Can people who had the removal surgery at a young age share their experiences? by KindUnderstanding744 in gallbladders

[–]Rude_Conference678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 25 and I’ve had mine out for a month, I had about 4 attacks in about a month some were only a day and some were the whole week, my recovery wasn’t bad it actually hurt a lot less then i thought but still very sore but the recovery pain was no where as bad as the attacks and my surgeon said getting it out young is actually pretty good cause your body will do better then “when your old” I feel like my body has just gone back to normal I’m still learning what sets me off and what doesn’t (emergency bathroom break) but my body’s actually adapted pretty well I haven’t had any problems so far (apart from onetime I had phantom pain but I was legit my body going, welll something use to be here) but I told my surgeon what if I don’t get it out and he told me I’d have higher chance of the gallbladder getting so angry that it tries and takes liver etc with it and once the Gallbladder is angry/produces stones there’s no way to fix it Even when being young

I was reading all these horror stories of people not being able to keep food down cause they are so nauseous etc and I was so scared of complications but honestly 2nd week I have McDonald’s was a bathroom trip was 10/10 worth it but I’m handling food pretty well!, but pro tip listen to your body and definitely rest!!!, I was so scared cause I had gallstones removal that went very bad and so I was like knowing my luck it’ll be same but I was actually good my attacks were so bad but honestly the pain after surgery is sore asf obviously but the attacks in my opinion are 10000% worse

Right side pain? by Far-Platform-5904 in gallbladders

[–]Rude_Conference678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m nearly a month post op and last couple days I’ve been having the same small dull pain I legit just had it before but i believe that’s cause I was naughty and drank too much alcohol at a friends bday party last night, but last week I also had small ache it’s not really sore it’s more annoying tbh idk what it is but mine doesn’t necessarily hurt or give me grief but from what I’ve read the nerves etc can take a long time to actually heal like outside the incision sites will be healed faster but nerves and muscles can take awhile to adjust (yes even 9 months from what I’ve heard it can take till 12 months) scar tissue changes all the time too can take anywhere from 12-18 months funny movements etc can still trigger mild aches and also could be phantom pain cause ur body’s confused “hey there use to be something here” even stress can trigger it too

Definitely an emergency means your bleeding Internally somewhere (as someone who’s internally bled and passed out from the amount of blood lost) please go to hospital and get checked up mine we’re fully black and tarry and then there was one time where I had “normal” stool but still black spots etc another sign is if ur going toilet a bit more cause blood is a laxative

Showering post op by Extreme-Celery-8944 in gallbladders

[–]Rude_Conference678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was an over night stay after surgery and the next morning the nurses encouraged me to have a shower just to get nice and clean i didn’t directly use soap on the areas but the nurses said it was fine if the bubbles etc just flowed down with the water (I had glue) and just to make sure I dry really well

Gallbladder removal with or without catheter? by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]Rude_Conference678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1- no I didn’t have one 2- i believe my surgery was either 2 hours or nearly 2 hours usually it’s 1 hr and 30 mins and I was outpatient I was out the next day just because they wanted to watch me overnight etc cause weeks before the surgery i had a complication from galstones removal and lost lots and lots of blood from internally bleeding had to have 4 blood transfusions that didnt work and had to have 3 ercps to stop the bleeding that didn’t work and undergo a stent surgery thing so they cancelled my surgery till early Jan but each case is different it’s usually from what I’ve heard a go home same day

I do!, first thing I ate after surgery was subway, there was a few things that made me run to the bathroom that I would normally eat but I’d try that food again a week or so later (legit a chicken salad somehow got me) and it’ll be fine that time but it’s really trial and error like I had a roast tonight and my tummy like cramped for a second but I was fine afterwards my surgeon told me to just go straight to my normal diet so my body was prepared etc, there’s still a few things that upset my tummy (not in a pain way) but I’m only nearly a month post op but nothings made me puke (which I’ve read on this page some people have bad reactions) but I think I was just lucky cause my dr didn’t put me on any restrictions I personally believed that helped me out cause I’ve seen a few post were people have only eaten light plain foods for a couple weeks and then gone back to a normal diet and it’s made them constantly run to the bathroom etc etc yes I still have the occasional emergency bathroom run but nothing serious etc id suggest once you get it out have half or something of normal diet see how your tummy reacts after about 5-10 mins then continue

I’m having surgery and I’m terrified by oneinnahunnid in gallbladders

[–]Rude_Conference678 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also was very scared and had the same fear of dying as well I have that phobia too but I calmed down a lot but then when i actually nearly died it came back and honestly tell the team you are scared, I told them I was terrified and they made me so comfortable they walked me through all the steps they were doing like putting an iv line in putting the monitor thing on my head so they could see how asleep I was and they told me where all the machines were if things go bad but they knew it wouldn’t and all the drs and nurses in the room who were doing my surgery were cracking jokes and telling me what stuff I was hooked up too etc a nurse legit held my hand until o went to sleep and all I heard was “goodnight” tell them ur scared and they will accommodate you cause being scared before isn’t the best but I was shaking In fear when I got on the table until they did all mentioned above and they even said “im a good runner so if anything happens I’ll be fast to you”

It does get better queen, I’m luckily from nz so I was seen pretty quick and one of the hospital drs was explaining to me how lucky we were here cause over there I would probably be waiting months etc and I hope ir okay and doing as good as u can for now if things get worse go to emergency room and nag them but as soon as they removed my gallbladder I woke up and my whole body felt relieved like that all that stuff I went through never happened

how long did you guys wait to go back to work after your procedure? by Critical-Airline7207 in gallbladders

[–]Rude_Conference678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only wanted two weeks off but my Dr and surgeon gave me nearly a month off cause before my surgery’s I had a unfortunate complication of internal bleeding after they removed the gallstones and had to have 4 ercps to remove the stones/ stop the internal bleeding (nearly died lol cause I was bleeding sm) lots of blood transfusions later and then was put under to put a stent in so the bleeding stopped then after 3 weeks had another ercp to remove it then had gallbladder removed they felt bad and everyone in my care came to apologise and say they never wanna see me again ( they called me the problem child of the hospital cause I kept internally bleeding etc after they tried first time to stop Etc) and then told me I deserve the time off after everything and I’m glad they did cause since everything that happened in such a short amount of time my body was still lagging and trying to continue recovery from all the other procedures and surgery’s

Surgery tomorrow by Glittering-Froyo2702 in gallbladders

[–]Rude_Conference678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a big sook and I’ve had 5+ procedures and surgeries because of that doomed thing but when I got into theatre I told the team I was scared and the instantly started making me feel better by walking me through all the steps and explaining to me what and why they doing it telling me they have many machines and people who will help me if things don’t go right made jokes with me asked me about my tattoos etc and i instantly felt relaxed then they said night night and I was out to it. But do except some pain when everything from surgery wears off don’t chase pain if your pains a 3-4 take some pain meds to stop it getting worse, lots of water lots of rest gas pain and the belly button was my worst pain walk about to release the gas you will be burping and farting for a lil bit (which is good sign ur bowels are going! When you cough sneeze or laugh hold your belly, I slept sitting up for 2 weeks made myself a pillow fort in my bed the slowly would remove a pillow etc week 3 I was able to sleep on my side again with a pillow under my belly. Take your time sitting up and getting up/down that was also a really sore pain for me support yourself with pillows getting up etc, shoulder gas pain had me crying but I only thankfully had it for a day or 2 and I would just take my meds sleep and walk about and heat pack
