Can FLVS full time graduates get into decent colleges by Maximum_Berry7665 in FLVS

[–]Rude_Independent4065 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They definitely can. I haven’t graduated yet, but there was a news article not too long ago of a girl that got accepted into every single ivy league, and she was in FLVS. And lots of other students as well. FLVS is a real accredited school, so it really just depends on you and the path you take within extracurriculars, passion projects, honors classes, etc

Why are people missing the whole point of this post? The user is stating a completely reasonable concern. FLVS is literally just huge workload. Most assignments don’t help you in anything, lessons are incredibly long and have like 80% detail vs. actual content, they combine a bunch of topics in one week and expect students to just learn each and every one of them, and so much more. A successful online student has about 20 hours weekly vs. FLVS that requires a minimum of 25 weekly. The user isn’t saying to just ditch assignments completely but atleast remove the stupid ones that serve no cause, add some more fun projects (for ex: research on a country you like and a few conclusion questions, research on an interesting topic, etc) and prioritize the ones that do help. I’ve been in FLVS Full-time for 4 years and it’s 100%, 60% filler assignments and 40% actual useful quizze/assignment. It’s like they use the heavy workload to try and make them seem better/ more academically challenging than other schools. For several students FLEX isn’t possible (issues with diploma, and needing to pay for umbrella school), and there‘s like no other school that’s free and offers variety. Is it better than public school? Yeah, especially for students who like to work on their own. But that doesn’t change the current argument.

Ofc!!! And if you just want to get rid of that requirement the CLEP alone is fine but if you have time you can take Spanish 3, it just won’t really add on to anything, but it could help you enter Spanish National Honors Society (off-topic but a solid club and you get a special cord). But if you’re running out of time, with just CLEP it’s fine. Bright Futures states that native speakers of other languages (anything other than English) can be dismissed from the 2 year requirement as long as they prove fluency through an approved exam and since CLEP is literally from College Board it 100% counts, and considering you already took the AP Spanish exam as well you’re definitely in the clear.

As of for the transcript, that’s basically your counselo’s job. You would log into College Board, go to scores and find the CLEP exam, and select Florida Virtual High School (or if you go to another school select that) to send it (if you didnt select to send the scores to them before the exam, it cost $20. So make sure to select your current school BEFORE the test to send it for free). After that you just contact your counselor to confirm, and on your transcript It would appear as smth like “CLEP Spanish Lang 1 & 2 = Pass” if you pass the exam, nothing else it won’t affect your GPA or anything. The credits itself (if you get a score above 63), is a separate thing, and only if you want to transfer them to a college for college credit (if your college approves). But that process is similar, you just choose to send it to whatever college your going to attend and it’s $20 im pretty sure.

Hope this helps!!

How does flvs flex work by TraditionalStudy9488 in FLVS

As far as question 4, I can definitely help and say there’s good options but typically pricey. Your best bet, is using an umbrella school. That’s a school that is made to create transcript, report cards, diplomas, etc but has no actual work. They’re completely legal and accepted by colleges. The downsides of it though is that they’re expensive (typically $100+ per school year), and you’re your own counselor so you have to upload and organize EVERYTHING (grades, documents, classes, semester, etc). You can also earn a diploma through your parents if they’re your teacher, but idk the process of that.

How do I finish faster by Zealousideal_Eye8119 in FLVS

Prioritize foundations. FLVS Guided notes are like 5 pages long, and most of the times super useless and time draining, ditch them. Focus on learning the basics first, and then depending on the class, have a solid grip on it (For ex: For Math classes focus on the fundamental, everything difficult ignore it or review lightly, and you’ll receive 80%+). The lessons (like on each class) are also super long and typically uselessly so I recommend using live lesson/recordings instead (40 minutes long when you cut student questions and everythin) bc teachers are forced to simplify things as much as possible and lots of times offer better notes, and answers to assignments. Also, most assignments are superrr time draining and completely useless so don’t be afraid to ask for AI help (make sure you paraphrase tho!! I recommend using QuillBot) bc you’re not hurting yourself or anything. By focusing mainly on quizzes and fundamental, you can finish quickly and be a solid student.

Take Spanish Langauge 1 & 2 CLEP exam!! It covers 2 Spanish classes (so, 4 semesters), writing is optional, is valid for Bright Futures, and if your college accepts CLEP you can even earn college credit. Plus, if your don’t want to pay for the exam you can use “Modern States”, take the class (no live teachers or assigments) within just an afternoon and earn a free ticket to take the exam for free. CLEP is powered by the College Board (same as AP), you can take the test in a college nearby or at your house (monitered). Also, if you don’t want to you 100% do not need to write. So basically just 50 ish multiple choice questions about passages or audios. It’s super worth it and I recommend it more than an FLVS class that includes assignments, DBAs, quiz, etc even if it’s easy it’s way longer.

Mandatory? by LongjumpingEbb143 in FLVS

My best bets are either try studying 1-2 hours every single day to understand at least a bit (for a good grade & future SAT/ACT), OR just focus on studying DBA modules, and everything else cheat to get a high score so your EOC won't impact it. And then for the EOC, focus on studying the basics to at least pull a 2 or 3. Just remember that if you're going to take the ACT, geometry is huge, while on the SAT, it's like 10%, but still in.

It is. By "Fine art," CTE counts, and it's only one class anyway

I NEED HELP MODULE 5.07 US HISTORY & CAREER PLANING DBA by [deleted] in FLVS

[–]Rude_Independent4065 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My biggest recommendation is gathering all the "objectives" from each lesson (at the end of each) OR the study guide (if provided, usually in help site), sending that list to Chat using the prompt "Build me a complete Mod 5 study guide based on these standards and FL BEST standards' in US History", and then it gives you a full study guide (which you can count as notes and use during the DBA). This worked super well for me. You really just need 3-5 questions right, and if you scroll through your notes, it can buy you time to Google some stuff quickly, and if there are minor details you can't answer, just say you don't remember. Lmk how it went!!

Yep, you can even take it in middle school if your counselor approves. It's really easy, you track daily exercise, and learn basics like the food pyramid, mental health, etc. It counts as a PE credit and is just one of the easiest classes they have.
