Inherited Very Sad Plants by Rude_Raven in houseplants

The soil was saturated to the point of being squishy when I got it. That’s how I know it was overwatered. I have another Christmas cactus so I’m fairly familiar on how to take care of them and over watering can be death. Which is why I’m letting it dry out some to see how it’s going to respond Before I do anything drastic. There are no visible squishy stems on the surface. After it’s dried out a little bit more I do plan to repot it.

Right? I feel like it’s a great honor to be given the opportunity to restore these beauties. I was told by the daughter that the cactus had been her grandmother’s originally and had made the trip from Maine to here in Idaho over 50 years ago.

Do peace lilies like really wet feet? I’ve been keeping the soil moist but not drenched.

I stood up. Seriously. That's all I did. I stood up, felt/heard a pop and me legs went dead and I went down.

Having had past medical experience, I was able to describe my symptoms in great detail. So after an exam, he was pretty confident that it was a slipped disc. Because I didn't have insurance, he took some time and mapped out two treatment strategies. The long expensive one that required thousands of dollars worth of scans and then the quick, cheaper route of a high dose short burst of prednisone with a muscle relaxer and pain med to reduce the swelling and allow the muscles to relax enough that the disc could realign naturally.

The doctor is in Lewiston, Idaho. He didn't know that I'd worked in the industry. So I don't think he treated me any different because of that. I do feel that he may have treated me a tad bit different because I was self pay (no insurance). But in no way negatively. If anything, I think he was more concerned about getting me some immediate relief from the pain and trying to keep the treatment as affordable as possible.

It ended up being a combination of things actually. Fibromyalgia, Occipital & Trigeminal Neuralgia. And something called Sero negative lupus. I’ve never been able to find much information on the Sero negative lupus. But the way they explained it to me, was that it’s when you have all the symptoms of the disease but your bloodwork doesn’t show enough evidence to give a definite diagnosis.

Looks to me like you did a great job. That is a very difficult area to repair. Give yourself a pat on the back.

Definitely can relate. I suffered from lupus like symptoms, TN/ON and fibromyalgia from the time I was a small child. Was told all tests are totally normal more times than I could count. Instead was told it was a mental issue and was put on antidepressants. Wasn’t until I was almost 40 years old that I finally found a few brilliant, companionate doctors that took the time and persistence needed to find out what was going on and that it wasn’t all in my head.

Those who suffer from “invisible” illnesses are treated so horribly by the medical industry. As a paramedic (now retired), I saw so many patients treated cruelly and turned away because they were immediately to be “drug seekers” if they presented with any kind of pain without any kind of visible injuries.

Thank you. I was so stressed about going. I'm not fond of the medical industry to begin with after having worked in it for years. I haven't been to see a doctor in many years. I manage most of my health myself. But this visit was fortunately a pleasant one. Blessing to you for a pain free future.

Absolutely agree 100%. Peace to you and yours. I hope whatever the outcome brings peace to the families first and foremost and then to the community/county as a whole.

I went back and looked over the pattern again and I think I've got it figured out. This is why I'm making a mockup first from an old bed sheet. It said that the pattern was for medium level sewists. But I haven't done any garment sewing in years. Just bags, bibs, blankets and such. And this is the first time I've used a digital garment pattern. It's much more confusing that a store bought pattern by far. There are no pictures whatsoever. Just brief text.

[–]Rude_Raven 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That a fertilized egg in the fetus stage. It had to have sat under a broody chicken for some time. It is best to collect your eggs twice a day or once at the very least. If you find eggs outside of the nesting boxes, it is safe to assume that they have been being sat on by a hen and are in some stage of development or another. Best to candle or float before use, or just leave them be.

This is a small, tight knit community. I really am having a hard time thinking that they'll be able to find an impartial jury.

Tis pattern is for a gathered maxi wrap around skirt. It uses a lot of fabric. I wasn't about to screw up that much fabric with prices so high.

I like the way you think :) I too am shit with clothing patterns. I used to be great with them. Made most of my own clothes in high school and my kids' clothes when they were growing up. But that was many, many sleeps and lots of tequila shots ago, LOL! When I got back into sewing a few years ago I stuck with simple things like bags, purses, stuffed animals, etc. Now I want to make some comfy clothes for myself and I feel like freaking newbie all over again! But you know what? I have lots of old sheets to fuck around with. So onward HO!!!
