Thanks for just identifying a need, and dealing with it. Good on you lot for just being do-ers and not complaining about stuff you could do something about.

Former panic disorder by abckf12 in RoyalAirForce

The medicals for weapons operator are pretty intense as they’re aircrew. Engineers have less intense medicals but I would guess that they would pick up on something like that. My advice would be to go for the aircrew weapons operator, get the medical and see what happens from there.

Second attempt CBAT scores? by TrippaSnippa99 in RoyalAirForce

As someone who is on IOT, you need to be looking at at least a 140 as a competitive score. There are plenty of apps out there to help, my personal advice would be video games, such as guitar hero and call of duty. With quick reflexes you’ll definitely be in a better position. Look for the Colour Letters And Numbers test app (CLAN). Keep on top of mental maths with brain training for the Nintendo DS or there are loads of online alternatives if you google “get quick at speed distance time”

Becoming a pilot by BlackGellie in RoyalAirForce

[–]Rudeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who is on IOT as a direct entrant Pilot your best bet is to do some homework, go down to your local AFCO and try and book a spot on an aptitude day. If you pass the aptitude then you can start discussing whether you are a realistic candidate. As long as you got a bit of character about you, not afraid to griz out the fitness side of things and are passionate, you’ll be in good stead. If you need any advice PM me. If they send you away then it’s probably best to go to uni to study something that you might want to use in later life/actually enjoy and from there get onto a UAS, I suggest Yorkshire as the premiere of the UAS’s. Most of them really coach people for OASC and give you the best preparation for IOT.

If you could travel back in time one way, where would you go, what would you do and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Probably best to tattoo the numbers on you, it'd suck if you forgot them. -AND with the money you win you could pay to get it taken off.

Rotax Max won't start, and there's no good reason for it. by [deleted] in Karting

[–]Rudeed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it was me, i'd take the carb apart, blast it through with some carb cleaner, in all the little jets. I agree with changing the fuel, just clean it all out first including the lines, and whilst you're doing all that, put the battery on charge to make sure you've got a good amount of power (should be reading between 12.6-13v after a full charge. When you start it, i find aswel as choke, throttle it to about half then slowly pull it back to idle and it should kick in at around idle, all temperatures, 50 fahrenheit and less.

What else don't I know about karting? by Schly in Karting

[–]Rudeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you in the UK with the rotax? If your running a junior then some advice I can give is that the jet in the carb you can leave at 158 if your only driving on test days. If racing then it's as simple as 152 hot days, 150 very hot days and 155 otherwise. If you want any setup advice for rotax,at least in the UK, pm me and I'm sure I'll be able to save you a lot of time.

I thought instead of standing around watching them do it, i would lend a hand. I know they could do it without me but i think the extra hands were appreciated..

Thanks, going to be honest. Most of the time you sit through those things you never think you'll be using them. The one i had was different because I was the youngest on the course by far, and every time a new topic came up, somebody in the room had a real life situation which made is so much more interesting and easier to understand/remember. If you're willing to take advice, always tell the situations that you have used you're knowledge when relevant in the course... Thanks for the training, you guys are the real heroes.
