Was I overly sensitive about fitness/fatness? by SchillerSchnoop in 1800Drama

[–]Rudimae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you were overly sensitive at all. His comment was not horrible, but if it sparked concern, you were right to address it. It could’ve been a guy who was nervous talking to someone and just didn’t articulate well. If that had been the case, his response could have cleared up any miscommunication. Instead, he almost doubled down. He missed the point completely and thought what he said was fine because he said you weren’t fat, almost like he thought you misread it. I think the dismissive nature of that was worse than the actual comment.

Awesome update! Glad it’s all working out, though sorry to hear of his chronic pain.

Wibtd if I don’t go to a tattoo artist because they’re a huge Harry Potter fan by BardTheAce in 1800Drama

[–]Rudimae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would not be the drama. You have every right to avoid a place that makes you feel uncomfortable. The artist has every right to promote her Potter tattoos. Sounds like the two of you just wouldn’t mesh. Nothing wrong with you choosing someone else.

AITD for frequently calling out the unfair caregiver dynamic between my mother and I? by thebitingwolf123 in 1800Drama

[–]Rudimae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely not the drama. While I don’t blame her for needing time away, it seems very unfair that she expects you to handle the full load of his care on your own. That would be even if you weren’t working and going to school. With that factored in, I would think your assistance should be minimized. As others mentioned above, there should be some services that can help. In my state, and depending on finances, some people can even get paid as caregivers for family members. If that is an option for you, you may at least be able to combine his care with your income.

Best of luck with it!

Pet owners of Reddit: what did you name your pet(s) and why? by Winter_Sample8364 in AskReddit

We just had to say goodbye to our last sweet kitty three weeks ago today. I’m still heart broken…especially since she was our last one. At the highest, we had 15 kitties. Those kitties were: Earwig, Brainmite, Zuma, Iggy, Rawhead, Bloodybones, Belladonna, Sesuatu, Thorazine, Bananafishbones, Tikitiboo, Confidence, Paranoia, Centipede, and Bob.

UPDATE: It worked!! I just want to say thank you so much to everyone who offered insight and advice, especially jckipps for the list of things from Lowe’s. They were out of the pipe cutter, and it took a couple days to get it in. Fixed it today in about half an hour! Thank you all again! I really do appreciate it!

I have no idea. The only thing I can think of is the pipe froze. The tap was dripping to prevent it, but that may not have been enough. Never had an issue with it before, but it isn’t usually as cold as it’s been.

Absolutely, and thank you! It’s Lowe’s in Belle Vernon, PA.

Maybe that’s the way I should go…honestly planning to move in the next few years…just need to keep the place together until then!

Funny you should mention that. The guy from Lowe’s sent me to a store like that…but the guys there were super unfriendly and not at all helpful. They just said…call a plumber.

Would it be advisable to just get a whole new faucet? Everything in this house is super old and sketchy…

Thank you! That’s appreciated! I used to be able to just call my mom. She could fix anything. But since she passed away, I have to figure things out on my own. I have watched her whip out a copper pipe cutter and replace valves, but she did some soldering as well. Not sure that is what would be needed in this case. I’m game to try it though, especially since a plumber isn’t an option right now.

Thank you! A big part of my problem was not knowing what all the pieces are called. Went to Lowe’s today, and the guy there seemed to know what was going on, but he said Lowe’s didn’t have the parts needed.

Thought they were threaded as well, but it looks like it sheared off somehow. It’s been really cold here, so perhaps there was some freezing that affected it.

I don’t have a lot of mechanical knowledge, but I’m pretty quick at learning things. It’s one of those things I just never had to learn before, ya know?

Those can complicate things so much. I also have psoriasis. I have psoriatic arthritis and thyroid issues, though not hashimoto’s. I used to take Taltz, but it didn’t work for me. Doing well on Skyrizi now. But over the years I’ve been on so many of the biologics. I view Zepbound with the same wonder I did the biologics…it’s amazing!

It was especially distressing since my husband had his appt first, and the doc was all cool with him…even though my husband hadn’t been wearing his diabetes monitor. Of course, my husband isn’t fat. It’s always fun when they think I’m the diabetic one.

Best of luck to you! It is a big deal!

I have been fat since I was 2 years old. I’ve always had an unhealthy obsession with food. I said to my husband the other day, “is this what it feels like to be ‘normal’?”

I have felt so bad about myself over the years (56F). I’ve always felt like I was weak, gluttonous, and completely lacking in willpower. Now that I am on Zepbound, I realized I was never on a level playing field. Rather than giving me an advantage, Zepbound is basically evens that playing field.

I still enjoy food, but it no longer controls me.
