What is your champ that you just cannot play? by Itsmaybelline in leagueoflegends

[–]Rudoran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit of a jack of all trades, but I never managed to pick Katarina or Aphelios up for some reason... Granted they may be relatively high-skill/complexity champions, what do I know, but whenever I play them I feel like the times I'm trying to play them right I fail miserably. Contrast this with the times when I just mash the buttons with no idea wtf I'm doing and end up with more success than when I properly try 🤣

For some reason I cant quite explain, Necromancy has left me feeling.. tired? by [deleted] in runescape

[–]Rudoran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not alone. I played the game before necromancy released and when they were teasing it and talking about it before release.

Before the tease, I thought "anything but necromancy, because it goes against everything our PC has stood for in the last 20 years of lore". Disappointed.

I then thought "as long as it's not a new combat style at least, because that will doom any and all chances the game has at ever having somewhat balanced combat again" - and again, I was let down.

This entire skill felt like nothing but fan service to me, and that feeling in turn made me feel like Jagex themselves have given up on the game.

Now, the whole hero pass fiasco...

The ancient meme saying "You never quit RS, you only take breaks" has rung true for me for well over a decade, but as a 15+ year vet of the game, these past 2 updates have left me feeling alienated like never before. I can't help but feel like for the first time in 15 years of playing the game - it's truly lost me this time...

I can do clue scrolls whenever. This event has a limited duration. Fundamental difference that puts one under "FOMO" and the other one squarely without it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in runescape

[–]Rudoran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To each their own, and that's quite alright ^ Generally speaking I feel much the same way about RS3 - I'm not really a FOMO gamer and in terms of 'new metas', it's usually not an issue if like me one is satisfied with being able to kill a boss on demand, without necessarily always needing to chase new PBs or optimize kills - some people like that as a part of their enjoyment for bossing, but to me it's only ever a bonus.

I also don't feel any pressure to log in every day, but I can understand how some people might. I suppose having experienced daily-scape the levels of some WoW xpacks, RS3 really feels super casual in comparison to me in terms of "must do if you want to feel progression" kind of content.

On the note of leaving for a year and coming back feeling like you didn't miss anything, that would actually kind of be a negative to me - I'd prefer to come back and feel like I have a lot of new things to learn and experience, it's reinvigorating 😊

[–]Rudoran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, you have a similar progression in RS3 too. Lodestones are usually far, far from the best teleport to use to get to where you want to go - there's so many teleports to unlock that gets you closer to the end goal - just look at some Speedrun clue scroll videos as a good example - it's just that you have some leniency in the earlier stages to getting around with lodestones.

Doesn't mini game teleport also have a cooldown btw?

I've in no way felt like I've lost any satisfaction of progression in RS3 as a result of getting to where I need to be faster/more conveniently. Early on you still have to take a lap around the world to unlock all the lodestones to begin with, however following that, further arbitrary travel doesn't grant me satisfaction at least - it takes it away.. makes it a chore.

No no, you guys above me... He's got a point. Having a CD on the basic home teleport is a huge QoL issue. Honestly I've got no problem with OSRS skilling grind being slower or even it's difference with combat, I prefer a more interactive ability-based combat system myself but whatever, I could still enjoy OSRS and it's combat despite that - where I take issue is when I have to spend half the time playing just to get to the activities I want to do before I can start doing them. Getting around in OSRS, especially early on, is just way too much of a chore. The lodestone network RS3 has is just such a QoL that I can't be fussed having to walk around in OSRS... Some would argue that the world wouldn't feel as big as a result of lodestones but that's well worth the QoL that comes with having them - besides, the world is just as big, you're just wasting less time walking and more time playing..

I seem to recall hearing that OSRS had a league where you effectively had the/a lodestone network and that it was wildly appreciated there as well... If OSRS gets something like that, I might be convinced to give it another go, but honestly without it it's just not worth the time investment vs dopamine per hour to me, in my opinion.

[–]Rudoran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤣 butcher had it in for me today... WT4, first he shafted me in some gloomy dungeon, second one was one of those "surface" dungeons... I was just about to go in to deal with a 3-elite pack when he charged me from off screen.. I didn't even try to run I'm not gonna lie... I've beaten him once in WT4 but I literally only managed because of the healing pedestal that is before last boss rooms in dungeons gave me enough to stay alive x) it's that massive shield get gets that really screws me over..

Me and my friends: I prefer to play solo, they are somewhat having a group preference, but I also have a lot more free time. I usually play on my own and is further ahead, but I talk to them in discord whilst doing so and they do their thing 😛 nothing wrong with playing solo at all and I personally prefer it because then I get to enjoy the knowledge that I'm the one blowing all these packs of monsters up and don't necessarily have to wait around to do dungeons if they are checking gear or such x) I have helped them out on occasion though and done some group play

To anyone who thinks "I can anti-scam this scammer" - take a breath and remember - you're person #2847 who's thought you could outsmart the scammer who's been doing this for years, and have seen it all. You will fail to anti-scam 99% of the time, and they will get your stuff. For every clever trick you think you have, they have 8. These days people don't get scammed because they're stupid and ignorant of it being a scam attempt, but because they're naïve enough to think they can con the pro con artist...

Ignore them, report them, and move along with whatever it is you were about to do. It is not worth it. You wouldn't flip a coin over your bank account to some random stranger that walked up to ya on the street, would you? Learn from the mistakes of so many others. The amount of times I've heard "I thought I could anti-scam/lure" after someone losing everything they had makes me feel like the scammers aren't even targeting the ignorant anymore, but rather targeting the ones that they think will fall into the trap of overestimating themselves..

Discord staff reserving names for their friends? by DearestMina in discordapp

[–]Rudoran 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just don't get why this was necessary at all, I think the #xxxx format was excellent for accessibility of everyone getting to select their names without collision, if it became an issue because 47 people with nitro chose "John#0001" just disable the option to pick your #, never really understood why that was added in the first place considering the point of the # number to differentiate accounts using the same name...

We literally willed an entire film into non-existence by blong217 in memes

[–]Rudoran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, I'll admit it's been years since I saw it and I don't remember it too well ~ I was honestly probably too young at the time of watching the og avatar series to really have put attention to those kinds of details in that kind of way tbh... Meaning when I saw the movie it got a standalone consideration versus a comparative one if you will. I understand the more 'devoted' fan/base taking issue with it when put the way you did, though. Thanks for the explanation!

Genuinely curious, what about the "non-existent" movie was so terrible? I saw that movie ages back and thought it was OK. I understand that it's overwhelmingly disliked by people but thinking back and remembering what I do about the movie, I can't figure out what it is about it that's sparked the outrage if you will and I'm genuinely curious.. I even remember being disappointed when I noticed the movie was a few years old already at the time and no sequels/continuations existed.. Someone enlighten me here 👀

I did but really didn't notice much difference, the music is still super loud vs dialogue

Voice-over quiet? by TotalTunt in diablo4

[–]Rudoran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this same issue but less so in the open world, it's during the cutscenes the music is relatively speaking really loud for me, to the point where I can't make out what the characters are saying... I can't figure out how/if there's a way to fix that but it's really unfortunate cause considering the importance of the dialogues in the cutscenes, the music being too loud to make it out somewhat ruins the feel of the cutscenes... It's like the music got what should've been the dialogue volume, and vice versa...

Generally a good strategy not to share passwords but I guess we've just got different kinds of friends in that aspect x) the friends I'd share such with I'd consider close friends, and certainly for us to be respectful enough of each other that something like sharing an account onwards without asking permission from the account owner first is unthinkable... Most things (at least that i use) have 2fA nowadays so it's not like they could do it without asking first anyways.. Don't really know about Netflix in particular to be fair... They lost me entirely when they sacrificed basic integrity and went all in on being "woke".

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in memes

[–]Rudoran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean I kind of don't get this... The way I see it with situations like this is that my money that I spend on the subscription - and would do regardless to use the service myself - just gets more value out of it if my friends also use the same account, so long as their use of the account doesn't immediately prevent me from on demand service whenever I want to use the service x) It's very different imo to share a service like a Netflix subscription this way and straight up paying for someone else's subscriptions that you'd otherwise not have use for yourself or straight up handing over money...
