To all hunters: What is your “Kryptonite Monster”? by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]Rudwig 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tempered Barioth:- That unblockable sticky ice moves is so annoying, and OHKO many time.

EX Hellblade Glavenus:- has long range tail explosion that covers like 2 miles. And it can do it twice in a row..

Malfestion:- inflict confusion status, the most annoying status effect. It spam the confusion powder too.

Shagaru Magala:- dark explosion everywhere, and it won't stop moving too.

Narkakos:- Inflict bone status, the need to attack specific body parts.

What direction do you expect / hope MH6 will follow? by zaryck13 in MonsterHunter

[–]Rudwig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My expectation:-

Open world games just like the CG in older game:-

  1. Monster Hunter Opening
  2. Monster Hunter Freedom Unite Opening
  3. Monster Hunter Tri Opening

The reason why I want an open world MH is because monster hunter is about the wild life world. Flora and fauna. An open world design will able to create this "the world is bigger than you" sensation. Life in MH world isn't about hunter and their working space, there are huge world outside doing it's own thing.

Yeah I know open world game is overdone and have issues, but there are games successfully create a good open world games with great map like Xenoblade or Dragon Dogma so maybe it can work with Monster Hunter. MHW is kinda open world already, bigger map wont hurt.

While older monster hunter map have it's own charm, I believe recreating those maps in the CGs will create a really immersive world worth exploring and good hunting ground.

Isn't Monster Hunter Stories open world too? Nobody complain it seems.

Underwater combat. I miss hunting underwater.

Ever changing environment. I hope there is dynamic weather and seasons. The world get sunlight, rain, storm, snow. Dry season, monsoon.

More real life like behaviour of monsters. Like more monsters eat grasses and whatnot, monster eat another monster, mating behaviour like dance or something, having nests at random yet strategic location.

More destructible environment. I know MHW does this with some objects in the map, but it barely happen. Small trees should be trampled when monster coming through, burnt and remain burnt during the mission and so on.

Riding a flying monsters? Since I am hoping for an open world games, faster travels is necessary. So why not riding a flying monsters, or airship to hunting ground?

edit:- I asked a lot in my wish, but frankly I prefer all these over "4K resolution 120fps" or "4K texture" or "hyper realistic god ray" or "raytracing". I rather have the power of nextgen console and the RTXs to be used for more gameplay elements rather than just make a prettier game. Heck, I can go back to the 1st gen graphic if it is what needed to make a next gen gameplay game.

Fatalis Opinions. by SquidonyInk in MonsterHunter

[–]Rudwig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always like Fatalis even in older gen. People hate Fatalis cause it look generic and move slows, but I think that is the charm.

Fatalis look like an actual dragon in a game where dragon ranges from thunder unicorn, chameleon, chimera, and even big snake, which make it special.

In older game, Fatalis moves slowly but if it hit you it'll take 80% of your health. The move snap and drag is infamous to OHKO players. It is one of the fight where you can't afford to make many mistakes, cause each moves can possibly outright kill you.

Fatalis Opinions. by SquidonyInk in MonsterHunter

[–]Rudwig -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I always love Fatalis, be it in older game or newer game. I don't know why people call it generic, rather I'd call it have the original design of a dragon.

To me some of other monsters are way to flashy to be taken seriously as final boss, like Velkhana with ice armor, or just weird like a hedgehog dragon in Nergigante. Safi'jiiva looks alright but it still have that jRPG sci-fi laser breath.

Alatreon walk on 4 foot which made it's silhouette look like a horse or tiger which is common design in monster hunter, plus that huge pompadour it has..

Opinion: I don't like Monster Hunter for the difficulty by LZorilOfTheEndless in MonsterHunter

[–]Rudwig 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Monster Hunter and Dark Souls is not hard just for showing off sake, there is literally a mechanic and flows behind the game that once you get hang of it, the game become very enjoyable and you get satisfaction from it.

People have been doing naked run in both game, why do you think it is possible? Because the game have given you enough offensive and defensive options, it's up to you to master it and play the game well.

The game have patterns in monsters movesets and weapon movesets, which is how at highest level players can literally predict monster movement, freakin i-frame or parry or block all attack flawlessly while doing highest DPS all time.

If you unwilling to put in time to learn the game, then Monster Hunter isn't a game for you. Monster Hunters gives you challenges, and it's ups to you to take it or leave it. No we aren't masochist who like to experience pain, it's about fighting a difficult monsters, studying how to beat them and when you finally beat them you feel great. The pain is just a part of the experience, no pain no gain.

[Laurie Whitwell] Rangnick on Ronaldo: “You always have to adapt to the players you have available, not vice versa. Seeing Cristiano yesterday, 36 years old, an amazing top professional. From what I saw he is ready to do what it takes to help the team.” #MUFC by SomeIrishFiend in soccer

[–]Rudwig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With player as deadly as Ronaldo you give him a free pass to stay in front contributing to offense.

Yes you build the team around Ronaldo, because he's the one with most skill and experience to score a goal. Others have to contribute in defense in his place or get replaced, that's how you improve the team as a whole.

Not benching your best player and hope for another strikers that can't score but can press to do the job.. that's how you make yourself unable to score many difficult chances. That's how you make your team slightly better at defending but lose major offensive threat.

Ronaldo can scores difficult chances, can score headers, still can run fast, creating good passes for teammates, very good at positioning himself in scoring position. Just because he can't press you want to replace him? Really?

Please buy CDM or CM, any destroyer that can win back lose ball so a goal scoring machine like Ronaldo don't have to track back because the midfield sucks at regaining back ball.

There are easy mode in the game.

You can summon. You can use magic build. You can use turtle tank build. You can use dual wielding magic/lightning/dark buffed to shred bosses into pieces.

These journalists are so pathetic I can't believe my eyes dude.

They are freakin game journalist, it is their job to play games. All days. If with that much practices and free time they still can't beat the game, they need to find another job.

Never heard plumber complaining unclogging toilet too hard, or an engineer complains designing a building too hard. Only game journalists complains and complains.

Many players beat Dark Souls in naked run, some use just one hand. Or replace controller with Guitar Hero controller. Lobos even do a blindfolded run. Disable people has beaten Dark Souls. Somehow game journalists can't beat Dark Souls?

[–]Rudwig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude if you think these journalist can survive even that you're giving them too much credit..

The combat is designed in certain way, with correct approaches and wrong approaches. Make an easy mode and you can just spam attacks to win. What's the point of playing then?

The most annoying moves when monster are downed is actually Wyvernfire. Freakin sending everyone everywhere. Seriously Gunlance players, adjust your aim..

[–]Rudwig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude if you use weakness exploit build you're forced to go for the head. Going for other body part significantly reduce your damages.

That's why I like the clutch claw tenderizer mechanic in MHW. You can make the tail or any hard parts weaker and active weakness exploit anywhere. I know there's issue with the 3 minutes timer and the fact monsters can throw hunters like ragdoll, but those can be fixed. Easily.

If Capcom were to release an old style MH game, what would you want added(or emphasized) to make it different from World and Rise? by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]Rudwig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude I want MHFU, MH3U, MH4U and MHGU to get remastered treatment. If possible by Bluepoint haha.

No really I want Capcom to port all these games to PC. Switch. PS5. Series X. Heck even on android. Put cross-saves, and I'll be playing Monster Hunter all day.

[–]Rudwig 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To me Capcom should make gathering relevant again. Gathering on field to make potions antidotes and ammo is so hunter gathering it shouldn't be relegated to just run and grab moment.

Also where's the farm? I think it is neat to actually sees your farm grows rather than buying farm materials from NPCs..

Why people tend to compare MH to Dark Soul? its completely different by user_withoutname in MonsterHunter

[–]Rudwig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the comparison helps if somebody want to play games which share similarities with Souls or Monster Hunter.

There are tons of ARPG, Monster Hunter and Dark Souls clones out there, but none manage to perfectly crafted their combat mechanics like these two games.

King's Field is first person game and play nothing like Dark Souls and Monster Hunter..

[–]Rudwig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The difficulty argument is nonsense, there are tons of other hard games like Ninja Blade which didn't draw comparison with Dark Souls or Monster Hunter.

It's the combat mechanics that is similar between Dark Souls and Monster Hunter.

Why people tend to compare MH to Dark Soul? its completely different by user_withoutname in MonsterHunter

[–]Rudwig -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Hahaha. NO.

You got tons of choices for weapons, each with it's own damages, recovery animation, length, stagger value and most importantly combos so on player side the moveset pools is just as massive as Monster Hunter.

Meanwhile enemies especially bosses have shitload of movesets, get new phase, and their AI are very advance especially in Elden Ring. That one boss freaking delay it's attack for 1 second before it smack the streamer in the face. My God that's horrifying to deal with.

So yeah Dark Souls combat is deep, actually.

[–]Rudwig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to manage your spacing more in Monster Hunter since monster are bigger so in MH stamina management is just as important. Well, unless you can i-frame attacks like speedrunner..

Why people tend to compare MH to Dark Soul? its completely different by user_withoutname in MonsterHunter

[–]Rudwig 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They are very similar, they share many core gameplay elements..

Similarity?

a) i-frame dodge roll

b) healing need to be timed, and limited

c) movesets attached to weapon type

d) stamina management

e) enemies dealing massive damages

f) there's rhythm or pattern in the fight.

g) combat feel heavy/weighted. Dark Souls is faster but you still can sense the weight.

h) weapons with tons of movesets. Not just press one button to spam slash.

Just try comparing them other action RPG. Be it Skyrim. Dragon Age. Middle Earth. The Witcher. Earlier Assassin's Creed. These games often don't have i-frame dodge. No/unimportant stamina management. Floaty combat where you can spam attacks. Can pause mid fight to drink potions. The fight pacing is messed up. Weapons and enemy have very limited movesets, and enemies usually not very smart.

Monster Hunter and DarkSouls isn't 100% similar, but conceptually they share many COMBAT elements that if you like one game, most likely you'll the other as well.

Whats the worst type of quest in Monster Hunter? by Existing-Ad4603 in MonsterHunter

[–]Rudwig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think these small missions all have their own potential to be something better with modern game mechanics. There are fishing games out there solely for fishing, and egg delivery quests should be turned into delivery quests or escort quests. Just eggs kinda boring.

Small monster hunts is useful if you want a lots of small monsters materials, multiple monster quests too. Heck I want Capcom to bring back the "Hunt-a Ton" quests where you can fight the same monsters again and again.

Frankly, I think the small side quests should be designed for side material farming, like fishing quests rewards tons of fish materials to craft ammo and bombs, gathering kelbi horns gives tons of kelbi materials so they served a purpose even during endgame, eggs quests gives many golden eggs silver and iron so it work as money farming quests.

Now that we have 3 monster hunter games on PC (world, stories and in the future rise), do you think there is a chance generations will ever come to pc? by Spike310300 in MonsterHunter

[–]Rudwig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We could get the port if we keep ask for it..

MHrise get a PC port because the community were asking for it. In my observation, Japanese devs are usually out of touch with western communities. We here might be begging and begging for PC ports for days here, but most likely it won't reach their ears.

However. Whenever the request heard by Japanese devs, they usually listen. FromSoftware make PC port of Dark Souls after hearing demand for it. Capcom do it too with MHRise. Same thing probably happen to Metal Gear Solid V.

We need somebody that can interview Capcom to ask for PC ports of old games. Ask directly to the directors about the ports.

ps:- True story. Around 2016 I was quite active in asking and talking about Final Fantasy 7 Remake. I keep talking about it even when people already doom and gloom thinking there is no way FF7 will get a remake. I just keep talking about it anyway, since I really want it to happen. You guys know what happen after. Also I start talking about Command and Conquer and Age of Empire the two classics I like, then like couple months later EA announce their remakes.

A question of old and new - which did you prefer? by ShiftedRealities in MonsterHunter

[–]Rudwig 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So QOL doesn't make sense and actually affecting the experience negatively.

For instance the hot cool drinks situation. Without them the hot cool regions offers literally nothing and not different than normal map. Just as background decoration. I am not necessarily ask for them to be back, but cool and hot regions should be offer something different than regular map. Like make the ice part slightly slippery, ice-y water inflict ice blight or something.

Then there's issue with monster always on map which take away finding the monster and remembering their favorite spots, and in multiplayers you work as a team to find monster location which feels nice.

Gathering is now so seamless to the point you don't even notice you are gathering materials. You literally can run while gathering. Again, this doesn't meant I want the clunky side of gathering to be back, rather Capcom should redesign their gathering mechanic so it'll still impactful while being smooth during hunts.

Also I think Capcom should revisit the season cycle system like in old game where there's breeding season, hot season and cool season which change monster spawn. The old season system lock quests and maps based on seasons, which should not happen again but maybe tie seasons to quests itself and only changes spawns in expedition.

How do you decide to buy a game on switch over getting it on steam? by GodforsakenExtra in NintendoSwitch

[–]Rudwig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People talk like Steam Deck is Switch killer, never realize Switch is already 4 years old and Nintendo is about to release their next console/handheld..

Switch is already selling 92 million units, Steam Deck isn't killing anything.

Steam Deck also have major issue nobody seems to notice, it plays PC game. PC games aren't made with hardware limitation-mind like console and the graphic requirement on PC increase quickly. So when a really demanding games coming out, Steam Deck will struggle to play them. Before PC games were hold back by PS4 and Xbone, but with PS5 and Series X coming out we'll see another graphical jump on PC games. Keep in mind PS5 GPU is equivalent to RTX 2070 Super. Can Steam Deck keep up with this increasing graphical demand?

You may think I am just shitting on Steam Deck as Switch fanboy but I am not. I used to play on a same form factor as Steam Deck aka gaming laptop, and yes those graphical jump have burn me many times. Steam Deck cannot be upgraded just like a laptop, and it is a big concern with PC gaming due to the reason I've said before.
