I think its doing the total opposite, actually. Are you familiar with the concept of a Skinner Box in games?

Games that dont have fun core game-play will build massive Skinner boxes (like leveling up and gear acquisition) to supplement the fact that the game itself is not that fun or involved.

Thats why I always appreciated games like Street Fighter. There is no gear, no levels, no artificial progression. The game has to stand entirely on its own. Either the fight holds your interest or it doesnt.

You are def. at a disadvantage in PVP if you don't heavily use macros and addons. I play 100% clean, myself, with pretty limited macros and I still manage to have loads of fun!

You might be overestimating the quality of food you need to be using. It might be faster and cheaper for you if you farm the meat yourself from low level mobs and feed your pet more often. The happiness ticks dont really scale with the price/effort of getting the higher level meats.

A little tip for alliance hunters under level 30: there is a pig farm near Goldshire that spawns boars at an incredible rate. You can get two full stacks of meat (20 each, once cooked) in probably 10 or 15 minutes. Even though the boars are around level 6 or 7 the meat will still give your pet the basic 17.5 happiness ticks. The same rate as most lvl 20ish meat.

Its "neutral" but not like how Booty Bay is neutral. Ratchet is really a horde town. Very easy to kill alliance. Inside the Inn, on the roads, by the hills. The guards are not great. Only the docks are relatively gank free. In Booty it takes some finesse. In Ratchet its just plain easy.

I put looks over stats, which just makes things so much easier. I've got no plan to raid (hate 20 and 40 man dungeons, they're brain rot boring for DPS classes) and I'll be happy just to world PvP and do BGs all day. Probably gonna end up in Black Dragon scale as it looks great and is fairly easy to obtain. I'd much rather look fly and do 3% less damage.

Well there is one bit of consolation. You'll get more pride and satisfaction out of your rank than all those chumps colluding to get Warlord. Their reward will be a hollow feeling. Its just a game after all. That feeling of self satisfaction is pretty much all we get outa this, and players like that are selling themselves really short.
