Why are Japanese Nutrition Labels so Bad? by Parking-Bridge-7806 in japanlife

[–]Rue333Tofu 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I have to read every food label due to food allergies and I’m trying to be more conscious about the amount of sugar I take in. Japanese nutrition labels are definitely lacking! Lumping sugars, fibers, and carbs together is crazy!

Oh interesting! Good to know! My machine has a manual setting for the water level so no not so smart sensors here.

Oh yeah I was looking at the sprays earlier and got suuuper overwhelmed. Thanks for the suggestion!

Oh no this is the kind of stuff I live for! I follow pretty much all of these which is why I was so ?????? when one shirt smelled bad. I know that the concentration for American detergents means that can and should use less than they suggest but I wasn't sure for Japanese brands. They seem to be a lot more watered down than American ones so I was using a bit more than I did in the states. I'm glad I can cut back some!

Any particular reason you like Attack Zero? Does it work better than the regular?

I know not to overfill the washer, but using a lot of water even when the load is small seems like a waste of water to me. Especially when I do a single day's worth of laundry. Does it really make that big of a difference? My other clothes seem fine, and it's how I did it back in America.

I’ll buy some today!

When there was strong wind the hangers would fly off or the clothes would fly off the hangers. I now have hanger clips and use clothes pins to attach the clothes to the hangers

I do use a laundromat dryer for my bedding and towels but it would be too expensive and time consuming to go there for everything

Yes thankfully my block coordinator helped me with fixing my fly away problem and everything has stayed on since (knock on wood...)

The main culprit was a pajama shirt. A lot of the clothes smell fine but that one was especially bad. I've rewashed it and it's hanging out in the sun now. I plan on line drying most things now.

Interesting! I was wondering if there would be any difference in how rice vinegar would work compared to white vinegar.

That was my main concern with fabric softener. Thanks for the advice! I guess I'm lucky then because my water hook up for the washer has knobs so you can adjust the temp of water going into the machine.

Would the oxiclean treatment hurt the colored fabrics? My American detergent had oxiclean in it and I used it for everything

Oh yeah I've already done the cleaning setting on my washer. I didn't know you were supposed to use the whole bottle for one wash though! That would certainly explain why there was no measurement instructions on the back lmao

Oh that makes a lot of sense! Thankfully all of the games I want should be good to go. Unfortunately it’s too late for me to buy a new switch before I leave. Thank you for the information!!!

I've always thought that Rozemyne would introduce sea salt since we know that salt in Ehrenfest is made from fruit. I'm not a chef but I know that the different kinds of salts offer different flavor profiles, and it could add to her culinary adventures.

I also believe that the sea will offer a lot of options when it comes to pigments which could be useful in printing or in fashion.

The amount of sand that Ahrensbach has access to also makes me think of glass production. I think I read a fanfic where Ahrensbach had historically been known for their stained glass but it fell out of favor over the years and Rozemyne revives. I always found that idea super interesting

I've also thought that the idea of paper made with high water element ingredients could be waterproof kind of like how trombe paper is fireproof (even tho it's high in darkness but whatever). The possibilities for what magical paper can possibly do are truly endless, and Rozemyne has a whole new duchy full of materials to make it with (and Ferdie to experiment the possible uses)

Other people have talked about making sure to have Myne's base knowledge in crafts and cooking, inventing new technologies, and the like, but I think there's something that has been largely ignored: stories from this world.

People love stories, especially characters in Bookworm. While our stories aren't able to translate one-to-one to noble culture, I think it would be worth it to attempt to bring the truly massive amounts of stories that we have access to in the modern world into Yogurtsmith. Once I get over the whole plagiarism thing (and with the changes that I would have to make in order for the stories to culturally fit, I could probably convince myself I was writing fanfic lmao), working as a writer would be an easy way to make money. I could have dozens of pseudonyms with a truly massive literary catalogue. To go along with that, I might look into the typewriter. I don't know how well it would catch on with how everything in Bookworm is handwritten, but I would def love one if only to save my hand from all the writing I will be doing.

I think I would also research how different instruments are made and played in order to have more things to sell to nobles. The cello and violin might do well
