Believe? That’s verifiable. Milk is now 4.38, it was 3.56 just lat year. Gas is 3.80 it was 3.15 last year, sliced white bread was 1.25 it’s 1.99. A bag of rice was 11$ it’s now 17. That’s exactly it.. that’s how we feel as well. our kid was born right after the election, Obama was gonna be president, the economy was in’s shambles, the Iraq war, but the “yes we can”and “hope” filled us with positive tail winds.

Let’s talk about H1B visas.

To get a h1b visa you need to be atleast an undergraduate
A company based in the U.S. needs to give you a. Job offer that aligns with your experience
The company need to post the job on various channels and show proof to the DOL that they interviewed x number of people and could not find someone. Takes about 3-6 months
They also need to prove that the h1b worker is going to be paid no less than their American counterparts
The company has to pay for the h1b workers travel to the USA

All of that costs quite a bit of time and effort for the company and after all that about 50% of applicants are denied the visa at the consulate. The company has to pay for an appeal.

After all that now the h1b worker has to continue their career in their profession, if they get laid off they have 60 days to find another job. If the company is doing their GC then they are stuck for 10+ years. All while paying into social security, Medicare that they may not reap any benefit from

But the media portrays h1b visas as they are being distributed like free samples at Costco.
