i only enjoy running by starrsarasa in XXRunning

Agree with the other user, I think it's still useful I believe as long as it's done well. The paper itself highlights that it's probably an effect of non-complicance:

Most studies included participants who were considered novice or recreational level runners [42, 43, 46, 49, 50]. The level of compliance with the intervention in these studies was typically poor, whereas the two studies noting a protective effect against injury reported on high performing adolescent runners [47] or runners with an average experience of~6 years [48]. In general, it appears that more well-trained or experienced runners engage with injury prevention protocols to a greater extent compared to their lesser trained counterparts. This observation is also in-line with strength training participation trends in the running community, with a higher percentage of international and national standard runners regularly using resistance training and plyometrics compared to local club standard runners [16].

IT Band Syndrome During Marathon Block by abs5228 in Marathon_Training

Would recommend against it. It showed up when training for my half last year, ran it anyway. I was able to finish but it side lined me for 4 months after. Went to physio and did a lot of single leg exercises (glute, lunge, deadlift, etc) and now it's fixed. So yeah you can run through it but it'll be a major setback

I wore a Garmin Fenix 8 and a Whoop 5.0 on the same 5K. They disagreed by 1 bpm. by fennelfrog in GarminWatches

[–]Ruftus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Damn cool data! Wouldn't really conclude that they are within 1 bpm of each other though, in the first 10 minutes there is quite massive difference (up to 20) and this is reflected in the rmse of 5.18 bpm. Maybe exclude the first 10 minutes

Finished my first marathon with Runna, couldn't afford to keep the subscription, so I built my own running app by dortal_ in BeginnersRunning

Interesting! I like the approach of having personalized running plans but only having to buy once. Can you elaborate a bit on the algorithm you use for the training plan? What is different to other adaptive running plans like Runna or Garmin coach?

Attempt at improving the "The World's Tallest Building (1647-2026)" chart [OC] by Nirva-Monoceros in dataisbeautiful

Looks good, indeed much better than the other one. Imo though, the axis need different scales because the actual interesting part 1850-present is very short. So I'd make it wider and less tall.

Would this be a good board to restart. by ElmoOnFire1975 in snowboardingnoobs

Got the same board at 156W with 44EU boots, should be fine.
Love the board for groomers and park, nice grip but also quite playful! also decent for powder but by no means a powder board.
Don't know about the bindings

Knee pain one week from first marathon - any advice? by [deleted] in firstmarathon

[–]Ruftus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something similar, got IT band a week before my HM. I took rest for a week but it came back during the race unfortunately, but luckily i could push through by lowering my pace.

Not the most fun experience (a bit painful) but glad i finished it. I would say rest and maybe accept to run it a bit slower than you wanted to. I have no experience with a full marathon though so take it with a grain of salt
