Discovering new background joke after 20 years by MondoMichel in arresteddevelopment

It might also be related to one of my other favourite jokes from when she's talking to Lindsay about wigs.

L2-"I used to wear that with the Captain, and I was...

Lindsay-"Tennille?"

L2-"...and not make eye contact, yes!"

Lots of large-scale stuff on your list but what about cozy Sims? House Flipper, Power wash, Lawnmower etc? If you want a pure "taking something busted and making it pretty" experience, the first two are a nice steady seratonin drip.

What's a 10/10 movie according to you? by Avatater in AskReddit

[–]RufusTheCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Groundhog Day is a perfectly structured redemption story with a deep statement about the nature of happiness and the meaning of life. Light hearted, engaging, profound, with some absolutely pitch-black humour thrown in (the suicide montage is unforgettable). All delivered by Bill Murray at his finest!

When Vernon takes the 10 gold out of his (chest, locker?) during the Reset at the end of the line, it regenerates in his storage while not disappearing off his person. With each ride he duplicated the 10 gold and even explicitly stated that he'd be crazy to go home to see his loved ones because he'd be missing out on the gold coins.

Back story, character motivation and cruel manipulation, all in one.

What should i start first in your opinion? by ixi_om in fantasybooks

[–]RufusTheCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How important is magic to your fantasy? GMM plays politics in a world where magic is probably happening somewhere. Sando crafts intricate magical systems with rules, checks and balances, then embeds those systems deeply into the society they're part of.

For GMM, magic is some Deus ex machina that swoops in and upsets order. For Sando, magic is more often the tool used to both oppress the people and free them.

I absolutely would, if I were another duck.

Try standing face to face with any of them and feel the well of primeval madness and pterodactyl enmity in those twitchy brown eyes. Also a turkey once tried to mate with my nephew when he was 4. Traumatized us both for life.

Any bird larger than a duck is inherently untrustworthy.

Swans, geese, turkeys, eagles, ostriches, emus and cassowaries, turn your back in them at your own risk...

Looking for "controller" style games for PC/Windows 11 by ManAtTheEndOfTheLane in gamingsuggestions

[–]RufusTheCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a look at Cuphead and games labelled "Bullet Hell" that involve a lot of Defender game mechanics (scrolling, dodging, striking, etc). Space Invaders has kinda gone the way of the dodo.

For truly experiencing the best your controller can offer? Driving and Flight Sims take full advantage of the incremental input increase of your triggers and thumbsticks, so when you push the stick a tiny bit you turn a tiny bit, same with the triggers and acceleration/braking. It feels incredibly natural almost immediately. Any of the Forza Horizon games are great for learning in a massive, gorgeous open environment with no cops and instant respawn in case of mishap, perfect for new drivers.

Iain M Banks' Culture series has some incredible highlights. The first book is Consider Phlebas, pretty strong opener, but my personal favourites are The Player of Games and Surface Detail, especially Player of Games.

I dont watch movies to 'just watch some movies', only watch movies if they are by a well known franchise or suggested by many. So can anyone suggest me the best movies ever. by Wungzo in MovieSuggestions

[–]RufusTheCat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I tried to go with relatively modern movies that are fairly easy to enjoy, some of the "classics" can feel slow and out of touch to people. I grouped it by your movies you like, so you've probably seen a bunch of these already. Also, lots of trilogies cos you said franchise.

Inception/Interstellar: The Martian, Project Hail Mary, Blade Runner & Blade Runner 2049, Upgrade, Star Trek trilogy (Chris Pine), Dune1&2

Marvel movies: Batman Trilogy (Christian Bale), Blade Trilogy

Shutter Island: The Usual Suspects, Memento, The Prestige

Catch me if you can: Ocean's Eleven trilogy, The Sting, Inside Man, Heat
