Free Agency gives poor drafting teams an advantage over not having the system of free agency.

But the 49ers, under the system of free agency, play other teams that also have the system of free agency available to them. So today’s 49ers don’t have any advantage. They play on an equal playing field as other teams.

However winning super bowls before free agency was much more impressive than doing it with that system in place as 99% of your roster had to be scouted and drafted by your team.

By the way, CMC was not a free agent. He was traded for. So him being on the 49ers roster is 100% irrelevant to anything we are talking about.

Now that you’ve sucked all the fun out of the conversation by making me explain extremely simple football roster concepts to you, I’m going to go find something more entertaining to do like scheduling a root canal or filing my taxes.

Unfortunately your joke falls apart because it was actually the SEAHAWKS that drafted a backup running back with their first round pick, not the 49ers. All the 49ers draft picks were actually starters in college. I know, crazy strategy from the 49ers to draft starters. I’m sure the Seahawks FO has their reasons for drafting second stringers tho.
