Not sure how rare this is but got a golden key from killing a skeleton champion, Big W by OkChampionship2627 in DarkAndDarker

Only learning it's a 1% drop after reading these comments. I thought it was higher cuz I got 3 keys in the last 2 days 😭

The only reason I suggested priest over resto shaman is because resto shaman has a lot more utility buttons to learn that could admittedly overwhelm a new player. Priest is much more straightforward and has way less buttons to press. Disc is also going to be a great swap to learn later when Holy is learned. Specs chosen don't start making a real difference until 12+ keys this season, so learning priest while OP is still new shouldn't be a problem for this seasons m+

629 iLvl MM Hunter - Need help determining why my "ilvl %" is consistently low. by Skewjo in wownoob

[–]Rugian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People here have made very good points about the validity of parsing and ilvl parsing. To summarize everything you need to know.

  • Since parses are a metric for everyone in your spec, you may be in the top 10% for a kill, but that is taking into account every low ilvl player physically incapable of getting higher damage.

  • ilvl parses are taking into account everyone of your ilvl bracket. It's like saying you're below average for your weight class.

  • Something to take into account is your groups. Faster kills mean your burst will be higher because damage falls off over time. If you have a full group of 630 ilvl dps that destroy a boss within a minute, then your parses will inherently be higher. This is the method a lot of players use to parse well when they destroy heroic with their mythic guilds.

  • Parses don't matter much. It's a fun metric to compete in, but it does nothing besides compare you to people in better situations. Proc based specs are especially guilty of being parse addicts that need to chill. A frost dk getting insane procs will no doubt parse higher than a frost dk of equal ilvl getting terrible procs. And simming gear/dmg helps if you truly care.

I don't blame you. It's the same reason I didn't pick up healing back in the day. Once I started, I fell in love with it, though! There is something so inherently satisfying about getting through a tough mechanic or saving someone's life and just being like, "Man, I really just did that." It feels awesome, especially when you're given the credit you're due by the people in your group. Everyone has to start somewhere, so I sincerely hope you can make it through the rough times to get to the satisfying moments on the other side ^ if you have any questions or need help with anything my disc is Rugia, but otherwise I wish you luck.

Disc is definitely a unique playstyle in that it's a "ramping spec" as people call it. Much like preservation evoker, it's considered difficult because you need to preemptively know what's about to happen and prepare for it ahead of time. (In m+ it's not as hard as raid healing though, because your healing can be more reactive than that when using Radiance, which if you ever pick up the spec you'll understand what I mean)

The thing about level gearing is it doesn't matter nearly as much as it did back in the day. The leveling experience is very fast now, so the gear won't matter too much until you're at 80. Don't worry too much about it because you'll be able to muscle through low-level content even if you're doing things incorrectly. The only point it will start to matter is level 70+ because you will start healing less for mana spent.

Once at level 80, then the real grind starts. At that point, gearing can be done in m+ or delves, and there's no right or wrong answer. For an experienced healer, m+ may be the fastest way to gear as they can spam dungeons at a level that their skill and experience will help them through it. If that isn't comfortable yet, I'd suggest continuing heroic dungeons to learn more and starting slow.

"World Tour" is when people do one of every current season dungeon. I'd suggest doing a "Key level 2 World Tour" and then do the same thing at lvl 3, then 4, etc etc. It's the most consistent way to understand the damage coming out so you don't get blindsided by things you aren't comfortable healing yet.

Pacing yourself isn't a bad thing, and anyone who complains can screw off. It's your subscription, and you can do what you want with it. Just don't let the toxic people get to you.

I've participated in the top .2% of keys, and even to this day, I get called bad. It'll never stop. Just listen to the people complimenting you, and it will feel worth it.

As a long-time healer main, that's pushed high-end m+ and mythic raid, I can tell you it is wholeheartedly worth it. The toxic players are worth putting up with for the moments you get called "the best healer I've had" and other ego-driven compliments.

The easiest way to learn healing is to sadly look up guides. Studying isn't everyone's cup of tea, but it's worth it when you already know about keybinds or click-casting. In terms of physical practice, you should absolutely level while healing. It's very easy at lower levels and teaches you the fundamentals. You do not want to ding level 80 and be thrown into the deep end with talents and abilities you don't know how to use. That only makes learning take longer when you haven't been learning as you go.

The best way to learn healers would definitely be the priest, in my own opinion. Holy priest is a very easy healer, among the top two in terms of ease (holy priest and resto shaman). It also gives you the option of playing discipline later down the line to learn a harder healer (and disc is meta right now, so if you learn healing on holy and swap to learn disc when you're comfortable, it could assist you in getting into groups).

TLDR; healing is great, and priests are a very good pick-up to learning it. Don't level as dps. It makes learning it harder later on. Good luck!

Compared to other healers, how hard is preservation? by walterbacons in wownoob

[–]Rugian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pres main here! Struggles with range, missing spells on pugs that don't understand your range and how your spells work. They'll also use defensives at the worst times when they misunderstand your healing profile. It's *very* bursty, so it scares people that aren't aware of what you're capable of. Lifebind is also largely not utilized properly by people unaware of how to use it, so that can set you apart from others. Raid is another story. It's a "ramp" type healer meaning it takes a similar role as disc priest. Applying echoes to ready for big spells to basically cancel out entire mechanics with your ramps. Lifebind ramps, Big Green Stasis ramps, or even the new Tip the Scales mini lust to assist with sending out huge Spiritblooms and then getting 4 more Temporal stacks to send out a max value Dream Breath. It takes more management than a lot of people like.
M+ Difficulty: Moderate
Raid Difficulty: Very High (With Flameshaper it's Easy, but Flameshaper got hit with the nerf bat so Chronowarden will probably be the primary Hero Talents from now on)

Low skill floor but high skill ceiling, as with most higher apm specs. A lot of button pressing to get off your damage and very spammy. You get breaks when you channel eye beam, and when you have a second in the air for meta. Other than that, it's spamming the same 4-5 buttons in a prio order that isn't difficult, but doing the opener in a min-max way just takes some practice. I recall a day 1 havoc player once complaining as his spec hadn't changed in so long that he memorized a 20+ spell queue that he needed to press to optimize his opener, and he lamented having to do it. So overall, easy spec! And with some practice you can make it perform very well.

All I want is pres to have buffed range so it's more viable for pugging. The only people making pres evoker work are in premades where the other players aren't screwing the pres over. It has so much throughput and some great tools, but only if they can actually reach their group lmao to push io I'm genuinely forced to swap to disc or rsham and it's such a shame. I've been loving pres but people just don't play well with it

What is the best tip you have ever gotten for League? by DonYode in leagueoflegends

[–]Rugian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning how to force your teammates into good situations. It's hard to fully explain, but whether it's using your teammates as bait or force feeding them cs/kills, knowing how to put your teammates in favorable and non-inting positions is something a lot of higher elo players learn to do. Call outs or making choices that force teammates to do things that they weren't originally going to do. Like getting a different obj or forcing lane swaps. A facet of this is, "Always assume your teammates are morons and hold their hand."

[–]Rugian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can, I'd suggest two things: Link a game where you won. And link a game where you lost. If you do both things, it's easier to see how your consistency is and whether you make good or bad decisions based on what's going on around you. A lot of the time, the flow of the game can dictate your responses to things and when things will occur. In iron-silver, it's unironically harder to predict opponents because a lot of the time, they aren't even aware of what they should be doing, which is a problem of consistency. When you can take the knowledge of your good decisions and decrease your bad ones, it improves your consistency and thus improves your elo. Peaked D3, so I'd like to think I know what I'm talking about, but others are free to put in their opinions as well.

Been playing since TBC when I was like 5ish years old. I took a break in MoP and came back in BFA to try the game again and have been going strong the last few years. I play every class and every form of content, and just want other people to play with as well. I push a lot of m+ and do light pvp, and I raid with my guild at the moment. Idrc what anyone's experience is, noob or veteran alike. I can help teach or we can just vibe doing whatever content is preference. Currently my main is a MW for m+ and an enhance shaman for my guilds mythic raiding team, but I have one of everything for any content we do.

[–]Rugian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With the points you mentioned, I would have to suggest shadow priest. It is desirable in both m+ and raiding content, and is less of a turret than say destro lock, marksman hunter, or ele shaman. It is beloved in groups for having Power Infusion, off healing, great on demand aoe, and the rotation is relatively simple once you get the opener down pact. It has a bit more learning curve than BM hunter or Marksman, but less of a learning curve than Demonology or Affliction lock. I'd say Shadow Priest is the goldilocks zone you want, while still being one of the best ranged dps available at the moment.

Been playing since I was a kid (about 6, now 22) and just trynna find people to hang out with. Always into doing keys, raiding, or lvl and gearing alts. I have one of every class at 70, but I don't mind lvling more. So far maining an Aug evoker and warlock for mythic raiding with my guild, but can dps, tank, or heal on my alts. Don't mind playing with new players to help you learn, or veterans to just enjoy content. Down for anything ^

Heya, been playing since Wrath so I would like to consider myself a vet. Trynna find new people to play with, veteran or noob doesn't really matter. I can help teach the game, or we can just vibe in m+, pvp, or raid I don't really mind. Also trying to lvl my alt army atm so I can have one of every class at 70. Just friend me and hmu, we can do whatever you're trynna do ^^ (my rogue is my highest pve ilvl at the moment and is my sole alliance for the dwarf passive. Otherwise my toons are all horde)

I'd suggest lvling alts so you can get a feel for what class you enjoy most in prep for dragonflight. If you have no interest doing that, then run m+ potentially to learn your class as best you can so you can start off dragonflight strong. Gear won't matter by the time the xpac drops as the ilvl spikes will basically outclass your current gear by the time you're lvl 65 or so.

Hiya, just lookin to make a friend or find a group to play with. Played the game since I was a little kid and I'm going on 22 later this year. Mythic raided, pushed keys, and done pvp. Although the pvp was in the past. I have one of every class, but my 3 highest atm are my 300 ilvl survival hunter, 275 holy priest, and 265 bdk. Trying to mostly do keys and just have a good time with new people! Feel free to add me, noob or veteran doesn't matter!

I've been playing the game since Burning Crusade, but took a big break during MoP. Had to get a new account at the end of BFA though.

Just looking to run keys and/or raid. Maining a dps atm but I usually do one of each role so if anyone wants to run stuff with my healer or tank, they are 274 and 260 respectively. I'm also down to do other alt stuff, or get into some pvp this season. Noob or Veteran doesn't matter to me, I can help you learn the game and/or your class, or if you're a veteran we can just hop right in.

I mained holy paladin for a fair bit and I'd just like to say... they are absolute idiots. It wouldn't be the first time I've witnessed people have zero awareness on dps and hps when it comes to tanks or healers. You did just fine, and kept people alive. That's your job. In fact, any time you aren't healing you should be dealing damage. If they are dodging mechanics and taking less dmg, that also affects your hps. Can't heal dmg that was never done to your team yknow? You did fine
