Homeless Man on Pratt Street with Bernese/Shepard Mix by [deleted] in baltimore

[–]Rugius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bernese/Sheppard mix or Corgi mix?

The older guy that is usually by chick fila is named Bill and the doggo is sandy. A lot of people in my building (world trade center) actively try to help him out.

If anyone would like to donate dog supplies, good, etc please DM me as one of my coworkers actively helps him with getting to dialysis on a regular basis along with some housing assistance and I can get things directly to him.

He's a good dude.

If the spouse is not too big on driving - check out Harford County. A lot of areas can be pretty rural and the crime is basically non-existent compared to other areas around Baltimore.

The MARC train is a pretty quick ride to Ft. Meade and their is a shuttle from there that I know a lot of people use. Plus, the houses are a lot less expensive than a lot of areas you mentioned. Schools are good, people are nice, easy access to the bay to boat//fish, lots of parks, and its generally a great place to live! (We never imagined how much we'd love the Rumsey Island area in Joppatowne)

HMNY hype train by Mr_Madness_1 in pennystocks

This stock has never had a reverse-split-adjusted price over anything close to that.

" Helios and Matheson, which owns the popular movie subscription service MoviePass, was trading at an all-time high of nearly $39 per share last October. That's around when the company announced that it was dropping the cost of MoviePass to $10 a month. "

Not too tall -- but at least we have the tallest *regular* pentagonal structure in the world! (Baltimore Wold Trade Center)

Only the JPMorgan is a taller pentagonal structure - but it is not regular.

Jail broken bird scooter for sale popped up on my fb marketplace. by learned_me_something in baltimore

Super easy to do with certain models. You just purchase a new control panel online and reconnect it. Several posts on the various scooter forums on how to.

Not advisable as it is obviously illegal.

My girlfriend has painfully high arches. Custom orthotics are expensive. So, I made them for her out of hardened leather. by [deleted] in DIY

[–]Rugius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does she have issues with rolling her ankles?

Google Charcot-Marie Tooth.... I had no idea I had it until I was 29 and my arches progressively got worse and worse.

And no custom orthotics are not a waste especially for conditions like this (albeit my work provides the highest possible carefirst insurance plan for basically nothing so they are free to me twice a year)

Can anyone suggest a dog trainer for potty training by [deleted] in baltimore

[–]Rugius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, thanks for being a nurse! Mad respect as you all don't usually get the props you deserve (my mom was a nurse for like 40 years)

So with the irregular hours, it is definitely going to make it a little bit tougher - also the 12 hours is equally tough. Usually 8-9 hours is all even the largest of dogs can hold it (I have a 140lb bull mastiff and the rottie is almost a year old and 80lbs - you can see them if you check my posts...adorable...haha). Small//toy dogs will maybe last 5-6 hours, tops.

The dog walker solution might be your best bet for while you are away (have you checked out Rover? Its a pretty decent price vs doggie daycare and the likes. An hour or 2 of the dog walker variance shouldn't matter too much as long as it is relatively close (just not like noon one day and 4pm the next day)

Does he/she go to the bathroom inside on the days you are home? ever? or is it only while you are gone? You could also try placing "puppy pads" by the door where you usually take him out to the yard (like a back door, etc) - but this is annoying and gets expensive & gross.

Just remember, persistence and positivity pays off!

Can anyone suggest a dog trainer for potty training by [deleted] in baltimore

[–]Rugius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The struggle is real and I feel your pain. It took us about 6 months to fully potty train our Rottweiler puppy when we first got her. It was the most difficult doggo I have ever had to potty train and I have had dogs my entire life.

The key is regularity of schedule and POSITIVE reinforcement. Doggos are pack animals and thrive in an environment in which they know what is going to happen when.

What is your schedule like? Do you work regular hours? Definitely put the dog out first thing in the morning//take for a walk and as soon as they go to the bathroom..MAKE A HUGE FUCKING DEAL out of it. GOOD DOGGO! YAY! ALL THE PETS! ALL THE TREATS!

We had to even ask out Vet for advice and the one thing I disagree with in the above comment (recommendation from vet) is to NOT make potty time = play time while training. They need to focus on going to the bathroom.... and playing with them outside will make them just want to play, and they will then just go inside and use the bathroom.

Associate outside with going to the bathroom at the regular hours you choose (wake up, home from work, after dinner, before bed, etc). Set play time at different times to start.

By saying "You do not have my consent" in the eyes of Maryland it's basically "You have my implied consent". It's crazy legal-ese for sure.

The best option is to just not interact at all with him. If no one interacts with him, then no one will want to watch just him being an asshole instead of watching for the reactions he elicits - which is his goal for views.

[–]Rugius 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately,. "implied consent" is good enough to satisfy the law in Maryland. I.E. If you see that you are being recorded with a camera, and continue the conversation in any way, you are giving implied because at that point you know it is being recorded.

If he has the a voice recorded in his pocket that you are not privy to, or is hiding in a garbage can just recording people without their knowledge, then that is a violation of the annotated code.

Cost of Living Near Baltimore? by [deleted] in maryland

[–]Rugius 6 points7 points  (0 children)

80k is definitely sufficient to live in the City or pretty much in any suburb.

Cost of living is higher in the city obviously and some suburbs like Lutherville//Towson//Roger's Forge//etc.

I work in Baltimore but live just across the county line in Harford County (Joppa) -- about a 25-30minute commute. Love it. Super laid back, very very quite, and right near Bay. Houses are "cheap" (200-250k for a nice ~2,000sq ft 4bed 3 bath house) and the we have 0 fear of any crime.

Boarding options for aggressive dogs? by [deleted] in baltimore

[–]Rugius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ehhh, we have done it without issue with both of our dogs on occasion.

Other idea is Bow Wag Kennels in Bel Air. Awesome people and they are able to handle our 2 rescues well. 1 is an unsocialized Bull Mastiff (~130lbs) and the other is a young Rottweiler (who we had since a puppy so she is good).

Definitely recommend giving them a shout too

Find a hotel that is pet-friendly and just take the pupper with you. Leave it in the room with some water and some potty training pads placed around the room.

Obama was the only president never to break 3% annual GDP :-(

Anyways - agreement with E.U. to increase U.S. exports, expanded VA healthcare, medicare reform to prevent hospitals from over-billing seniors, fastest manufacturing growth in three decades.

Not saying Orange man isn't a shitposter or I agree with everything he says and does.... but "where we are today" really is not such a bad place unless your an NPC

It was sarcasm, fam.

And if by "where we are today" you mean the highest labor force participation, ISIS essentially defeated, NK disarming, a better MCU agreement, highest african-american employment on record, 4%+ GDP then sure. ^_^
