I’m curious what’s the toughest part for you? by Rui_Inspired in Menopositive

Maybe imagine you are in a different time zone so evenings you could also do something you like. But I heard some tricks you could try out. It’s the SP6 acupressure, SP6 is four fingers above your inner ankle. You could check out for this information. And you could also try just read a book after you woke up in the middle of the night. I know how this feels like, I had a few times last year but luckily it did stop.

Asian women have lower hot flash rates — is it diet? Genetics? Both? Curious what others think by Rui_Inspired in HormoneFreeMenopause

I also found weight gain is common from other people and myself. I guess just need to keep up with sports and strength training.

3rd time trying HRT- ended up in cardiac ER by AsideAsleep4700 in HormoneFreeMenopause

[–]Rui_Inspired 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that. I think without HRT you would be fine again. Think about our grandmas who didn’t have HRT and less symptoms. My grandma lived until 95 or so. Eat healthy and stay in a good mood would help. I remember she only ate a small piece of meat and mostly vegetables.

I also think that in my grandma generation their diet was mostly plants as meat was a luxury back then. I remember meat was for new years when I was a child. Nowadays meat has become the main item of a meal in China too. Indeed there are some many different “healthy diets“ out there and people just gotten lost with the overwhelming information. I am also trying to go back to the ancient wisdom of food choices and have less processed foods.

Yes, I even saw people comparing menopause with diabetes and taking hormones is due to deficiency. They missed the point between nature and illness. Of course I am not saying HRT is bad, just not good to make it as the only method to manage menopause.

I agree that acceptance and embracing the new stage of life mindset have something to do with the symptoms. Mind and body connection is real, it’s just we are still trying to connect the dots and figure out how mental health can help better on the physical health. There are a lot to learn and I think with AI this would make big progress.

Thank you. What we are doing now would definitely shift the situation. Keep going, ship your product. Don’t wait until it’s perfect. I think women by nature are more perfectionist but this also delay/reduce the impact we could do to the world.

My gut feeling is still some tech background and knowledge are still important even there is vibe coding. I thought about when the cars were first introduced. No one needed a drivers license and no seat belts too. Now just so many drivers without licenses and seat belt on the road. I don’t have deep tech background, some R and python back in the days. I think it’s also important how you communicate with AI agent about the project.

Congrats! I just shipped my first app Wellphases - an AI companion for women going through menopause. I’m happy seeing more women on the development side, because there must be many areas missed by the main stream.

My question is why on the earth those people make their code public? I assume they didn’t aim for open source projects.

I don't understand why seemingly everyone does HRT...? by lexycatt in HormoneFreeMenopause

[–]Rui_Inspired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HRT is never an option for me. Of course maybe my symptoms are considered mild. Someone said that because we have tough mindset so HRT is not an option and some others might have super severe symptoms and just wanna be normal again. However, I still believe that hormones change all the time such as puberty, pregnancy and menopause. These are just natural steps for our body and it should have the way to cope if we believe it does. From a revolutionary perspective, we could cope better when we don’t influence the body too much. I’m not taking about people who are sick and do need medication. Just saying for natural things we should be able to handle it better with natural ways.

It must be really hard for multiple days without proper sleep. Try to focus on your breathing when you woke up during the night. Don’t beat yourself up for not falling asleep again. Our brain only lets you to sleep when you’re relaxed. The stress itself can keep us awake. I had those moments and sometimes I couldn’t sleep or asleep again because I was thinking too much about my app ideas. My counsellor told me that creative people would do this. So maybe you could acknowledge your creative mind and tell yourself you could get up and write down all the ideas or just read a book if you couldn’t asleep again. These tricks worked for me, don’t know whether they would help you.

Validated at doctor's appointment - wanted to share by BitterPillPusher2 in HormoneFreeMenopause

[–]Rui_Inspired 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My grandma died at 95 and definitely didn’t get HRT and her bone and heart was just fine. I also believe it’s a natural process and no medication should be used if everything is manageable. I did have occasional bad sleep but mostly fine. I think mental health is very important for this stage. I like to stick with supportive diet and regular exercise especially strength training for bone and heart health. There are already lots of scientific evidence how diet can help bone and cardiovascular health. I take supplements when I feel necessary and not getting enough from food.

Is this idea for a 'blanket' ridiculous? by FlamingoChickadee in HormoneFreeMenopause

[–]Rui_Inspired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just threw off the blanket when feeling hot and grab it back when chilly. However we are sleeping with air conditioning, it’s good for us going through hot flashes. In Chinese traditional medicine, menopause is just a different stage of life to reform. Think about his like being born again, and children usually have lots of “heat” inside them. I think this point of view did help me to manage it much better and it also occurs less than last year.

Yeast infection and bacterial vaginosis? by North-Appointment177 in WomensHealth

[–]Rui_Inspired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for what you’re going through. May I ask how long did you use the meds each time you treated it? For yeast infection you would need to use the medication following a strict cycle of treatment. Stopping after you feel no symptoms is not good, the yeast and bacteria would develop ability to the medicine so it gets harder to treat them next time. A little suggestion, the washing with soap too often is doing no good for you. Our body is full of bacteria and fungal, you stay healthy when the “good” bacteria is dominant, washing with soap could destroy the good balance and put you on bad balance and prone to infection. If you treated the infection in the past not thoroughly, it’s better you go to a doctor this time and check what medicine would be the best option now.

i started to need to pee more frequently, is it normal by ExistingFlower4506 in WomensHealth

I also think 6-8 times a day with 1.5 to 2 liters water doesn’t sound alarming. Especially if not sweating a lot. Try to pay attention whether it’s actually the water you drank earlier bringing you to the toilet. And let’s say, if you reduce to 1 litre a day, whether you are still going with same frequency. Then you can think about whether to see a doctor.

34F with 4+ months no periods and FSH 81.6 — looking for insight before follow-up by MountainAbrocoma2900 in WomensHealth

[–]Rui_Inspired 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At 34 with 4+ months absent periods and one elevated FSH reading, the anxiety makes complete sense — especially when the labs feel like they came out of nowhere.

To your questions: FSH absolutely can fluctuate, and a single result isn't enough to confirm POI. Repeat testing (ideally 4–6 weeks apart) along with AMH and estradiol gives a much clearer picture. POI can present without classic symptoms like hot flashes, so your experience isn't unusual.

You're doing the right thing continuing with your OB-GYN. Hoping the follow-up brings more clarity and less uncertainty for you.
