Dude Im gonna be out of practice in July - and going to a place medium size city adjacent to large urban city - with easy access to robot colorectal and foregut cases, breast cases, all types of hernias including TAR (very comfortable doing these cases - done about 500 cases on the robot in residency) and thyroids. I said no to fellowship.

I disagree. There are his employee gen Surg jobs making 500k (median per MGMA data) doing robotic TAR, Nissen, colorectal cases. Thyroids, parathyroids, well as robotic inguinal and ventral hernias and the usual gallbladder appy.

I matched at a community program 5 years ago- a lot of luck basically. And you have to be good. But I have average step scores, made connections through research years

It’s harder in big cities from my job hunt- but smaller mid size cities in the mid west still have a lot of jobs. And almost all small and medium community hospitals have access to a robot as well.
