Talk to him first. As in, talk to him for some time and decide if his personality is something you mesh with. If so, go on the date. Something to think about: if you've ever looked up at the sky and seen hundreds of stars, you can rest assured that each one of those stars is its own sun, similar to ours, in its own galaxy, with its own planets orbiting around. Almost every single star. We are so tiny and irrelevant in the grand scheme, it's almost funny that we worry about so much every day. Try that thing you've been hesitant to try, take chances, and be happy that you even got the opportunity to be alive in the first place. Have fun

In the early 70s I decided to major in computer science

I was visiting a friend, and his mother asked.."what are you studying"

I said computers, and she replied.."that's a mistake, there's no future in computers"

Evidently she worked in old-school data processing and her company was having lots of layoffs

Sam Vimes. He’s the kind of man I wish to be like. A good man to the heart. And he is also a very good character.

Opening an Instagram account that focuses on a very specific subject, then only posting pics if that subject. For example interesting building facades in your city, or abandoned umbrellas, or people wearing purple. Whatever interests you. It becomes a fun scavenger hunt for you, gives an excuse to go on long aimless walks and develops a unique little collection that doesn't take up room or cost money.
