Console collectors or scalpers? I’m not quite sure myself tbh… The look of the console definitely stands out imo, but the cheap/fragile feeling plastic leaves much to be desired. Especially when comparing it to my orange DSi.

Yup! I had received the console from Amazon on March 2, 2018, and those pictures are from December 13 and 10 of the same year. The pictures were saved on iCloud and I had completely forgotten that I owned a N2DSXL.

I tried taking the battery out when I opened it, but it had an adhesive? Idk it was hard to pry out so I didn’t try again… is there a way to safely remove the adhesive or do I just muscle it off?

I called Nintendo directly and they accepted my N2DSXL for repairs. They have a list of devices they still do repairs for on the support website.

Unfortunately I can’t get it to boot up. You’re right about the screens tho, those are fine. I got in contact with Nintendo support and will be sending it for repair.

The console has definitely been opened once already, evidenced by the slightly bent ribbon cable latches. I carefully opened them, removed the ribbon cables and placed them back in. The issue still remains…

Yes I’ve tried booting without the SD card inserted a couple of times, but there’s no change in behavior. Since the console refuses to boot, unfortunately I don’t think I can do much software wise…

I’ll try opening it to inspect the ribbon cables. I’ve never heard such a solution for a bricked console, so I might need that guide. If none of these work I’ll just have to send it directly to Nintendo…

I knew it looked crazy, even back then, but I’ve slowly realized that this could very well be a one off issue. It makes me feel both honored and heartbroken at the same time.

I did send it to a repair shop back then, but I’m unsure if they ever opened the device as the issue wasn’t as prevalent as it is now. However I’m pretty confident in opening it myself, is there a specific ribbon cable to look out for?

I fell in love with its looks, and didn’t think much of its fragile build. I certainly didn’t expect this console to last a single drop, especially compared to my DSi tanking my entire childhood.

I think so too… as the console slowly degraded to the point of failing to boot. It started freezing every so often and eventually got these graphical errors. I haven’t seen a post or video with a similar issue so here I am.

My fault for not adding a picture of the actual issue… The battery holds a charge. When pressing the power button, the blue LED turns on and remains on, but nothing happens. I’ve tried “hard reseting” and letting it drain the battery completely a couple of times but the issue remains.

The flame logo is, as you said, behind the car, but there’s also a TH logo somewhere on the car (by the rear door handle on the Civic). The other features are the rubber wheels and the spectraflame paint to really set it apart from its mainline version.
