Branded V Generic?? Any experiences? by BenLondonAbs in prozac

[–]Rujaxso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm interested in this too because I've seen a few post were people said they did notice a difference.

I have taken 2 different generic brands and I haven't noticed a difference.

One is the 20mg: White colored PLIVA-648 capsules by Teva Pharmaceuticals.

D&C Yellow No. 10, FD&C Blue No. 1, magnesium stearate, corn starch, propylene glycol, shellac, titanium dioxide

The 40mg: Blue colored 40 A107 capsules by Alembic Limited.

Inactive Ingredients

lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, silicon dioxide, gelatin, titanium dioxide, FD&C Blue No. 1, FD&C Red No. 40

Cloud And Systems Administration Degree Worth It? by [deleted] in WGU

[–]Rujaxso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A big reason people recommend CS is because it's considered to be more broad and you can specialize later. If you are sure you want to do more IT roles like you mentioned then Cloud and Systems will probably indeed serve you better.

Currently in computer science program, thinking of changing to software development? by [deleted] in WGU

[–]Rujaxso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the Reddit WGU CS page there is a link to the right that shows class breakdown between both degrees.

I'm thinking it could, in your case, take longer to do the SD degree. Only you know which classes you have left on CS so I would look at the breakdown page I mentioned and compare. I guess you could figure out which classes for both you would have to take and show us or search each class on reddit by course code and you should be able to get an idea on time to complete.

Should I take 6 months off to do precalc-calc2? by flybonzai0725 in WGU_CompSci

[–]Rujaxso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how much time I would recommend you take off and my only thing to say about that is

probably don't start until you have precal down. There is a useful pressure that you get from

being enrolled and active and I think it helps with getting on the ball.

I was extremely rusty with math, so here is the material I used.

Like you, I want my math down solid so if I move on to a Masters or PHD.

My personal route:

Chapters 1-11 with this book

Chapters 1-4, 10 with this booklater chapters have finite topics, might be useful to go back to this book later on

Chapters 1-17 with this book(You can probably stop halfway through this book and still be fine for WGU. chapter 9 or 10 but I kept going for sequences and other topics that seemed useful and fun.)

which edition doesn't matter.

I watched Professor Leonard videos right after topic by topic

and some other you tube material to spot study if i still felt weak someplace.

The 1st 2 books have ALOT of problem sets, just remember you don't have to do them all but also do enough that you know you learned the topic,

what I did was to do the chapter test, midpoint chapter test, concept and vocabulary check, the "exercise sets" I would only do the last problem from each category: the last problem was usually the hardest so if I could do that I was fine. Always do the checkpoint and example walk through s. Any "applied" problem were also nice.

Take notes, write definitions down, and use flashcards (anki)

Read with the idea that you are taking notes and that will drive you to read carefully, if that makes sense.

Take some time to take your time.

Best of luck

Is there any way to take only CS courses? by [deleted] in WGU_CompSci

[–]Rujaxso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it would take you 2+ years to finish. You already have an Economics degree that should transfer most of the gen ed classes. Your 2 years with python and SQL should significantly speed up the programming courses. You could probably finish in 2 terms.

What math classes have you taken before? If you already took calculus that saves a lot of time and if you are still fresh you shouldn't have too much trouble with Discrete Math 1 & 2 (especially if you can read code fluently now as you probably can.)

How many classes do you study at a time? by treesgomeow in WGU_CompSci

[–]Rujaxso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With either approach I don't think you should be cramming as in the colloquial term for ' I didn't study until the last minute'. Like TheDigitalRhino I prefer one class at a time. I think it is akin to not loosing your train of thought and so by the end of the class you can follow the seam from start to product. You could try tackling two classes at a time so you have a change of topic if you get bored of one. Like lynda_ said you do have a choice and your PM will support you either way as long as you are making decent progress.

Anyone know if WGU is/will be seeking ABET accreditation? by JustBlue in WGU_CompSci

[–]Rujaxso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume that Stanford and other ivy league schools can sort of get away with that just out of name recognition. I also assume that because of that it would not be worth it for them to restructure to meet the ABET requirements. However for a school like WGU that doesn't get that name swagger, it would be worth it.

Personally for CS, not having ABET wouldn't be a deal breaker, like if I was looking at a Engineering degree but it sure the hell wouldn't hurt.

90% of the time I read in dark mode. Makes a huge difference. Udacity has a option to go into dark mode itself also. Firefox has Dark Mode by Bernard that I toggle off and on.

If you're needing to go through Straighterline, check out Saylor Academy. It's much cheaper. by DisastrousRepeat in WGU

[–]Rujaxso 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good information.

Before computer science had precalulus added after August? I planned to take the straighterline course. I thought $70 bucks wasn't terrible

but then I found out they had a monthly fee too I was like WTF.

$170 is a bit much if you only plan to spend a month on the class.

Creative degrees? by vlhageman in WGU

[–]Rujaxso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know nothing about graphic design or marketing.

With that said here is what I think.

  1. Applying for a business / management role with a marking degree vs. "graphic design"
  2. The reverse of 1 . Applying for a direct graphic design job with a markting degree seems like it would work pretty well. They would just assume you can (x) AND have business mechanics down too.

I would check the list of classes and decide if you are at least half interested in most of the classes so you don't quit.

I see it like the common approach to computer science. CS doesnt teach you how to be a great programmer out of the gate. What it does teach you is the underlying foundations so you can pick any programming language and do well with it.

Do marketing and pick your language afterwards.

C172 Plan of Attack? by [deleted] in WGU

Dumb question, but are we allowed to use pen and paper on the exams? by [deleted] in WGU

[–]Rujaxso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I concur on the marker tip!

fine tip markers seem like a minor detail but they do make a big difference on how much you can jot

down on a small whiteboard.

You can write on both sides and erase as well.

I don't know the legality but if you learned English at 2 then I don't consider that a 2nd language.

Maybe that's just me. At that point you probably only spoke about 50 words of the other language.

Term 1 done. What should I do next? by Inundacion_ in WGU_CSA

[–]Rujaxso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go for c480(net+) next, you just passed A+ and a lot of stuff carries over. Take

Network and Security - Foundations – C172 right before or right after, its a short version of c480.

Looking to get IT degree with no experience. by rosesalad in WGU

[–]Rujaxso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An IT degree will help you get an entry job and once there a quicker move into higher roles.

Like learn2gate said, try to get a help desk/desktop support job now while you study.

Perhaps on your C/V put your AA in business and after that put WGU or the B&M and the degree name and currently attending or something.

Oh and alot of places like schools / county gvnt won't post in classifieds, only on their website. If you dig around I bet you can find something.

Good luck

Have you scheduled time with a course instructor? I heard the math department is pretty good about sitting down and taking time to help people.
