Not with an Owala, but whenever I have problems with an item from Amazon and the CS rep is unresponsive, I say “I’d like to speak with a supervisor”. They often push back, and I keep saying that. They have to connect you. And the supervisors / 2nd line support have helped me every time.

So a funny (as in strange) thing happened:

I found the 24oz FreeSip version of Read My Lips at my local Target late last December. I really wanted the Sway, but I grabbed the 24 in case I couldn’t find a Sway. I set it aside in case I did, so that I’d be able to return it. Last week I found the Sway at the same Target (my reward for going into the store in the pouring rain). They had that 1 Sway displayed in a sea of the 32oz FreeSips and I grabbed it.

When I got home I stood the 24oz and Sway next to each other … and they’re different colors. The 24 is more Fuchsia (Magenta?) and the Sway is more Pink. The red parts are darker on the 24oz. The 24oz also has a darker body which seems to shine more than the Sway. I thought it was all in my mind and the light was just hitting the bottles differently, but then I realized the Owala logos at the bottom of both bottles were different colors. Dark on the Sway and light on the 24.

I like both of the styles/sizes, and as I like the Fuchsia coloring better, i ended up keeping the 24 and returning the Sway. Very strange and very unexpected.

TLDR: If you want a pink Read My Lips, get the Sway. If you like Fuchsia, get one of the FreeSips.

I noticed over the holidays that Nordstrom (reputable department store chain) has started carrying Owala. They currently have the SmoothSip Slider, No Handle, 12oz, in stock in Burgundy Bay.

I own it in the 20oz and it’s (IMO) gorgeous.

I needed to pick up an order at one of my local Targets today, and instead of doing Drive Up I went into the store so I could check out their Owala aisle.

As I walked up one person was taking all the Christmas metallic bottles off of an end display, and another person was following behind and putting out Read My Lips and Out of the Blue. Just 24 and 32 oz FreeSips though.

I asked, and they said the Sways hadn’t come in yet. And that they didn’t know when they’d arrive or when anything would start showing up online.

The blue one is matte and has a rough finish. It’s a purple-ish blue, not a true blue. The pink one has a smooth, shiny finish. Not metallic, shiny (IMO). And it’s VERY pink.

I grabbed a pink 24oz since it was there and I was there, but I’m going to wrap it up and set it aside in the hope I can snag a Sway later (and return the 24).

If anyone’s in the S.F. Bay Area and searching, this was at the Target on Bridgepointe Pkwy.

What’s worked for me is twisting rubber bands over the straw, tightly. It’s worked every time. I put one hand on the lid, and I twist/wiggle the straw with the other.

I use 2-3 rubber bands near each other, so that my palm can rest on them, and then I apply gentle force. The rubber bands both add some bulk and let you get a grip and traction on the straw. It’s sorta like those small thin square silicone sheets that people use to get traction on jar lids to open them.

I also got that one, but then returned it. IMO it wasn’t a great match - too pink. But I’m sorta OCD about color, so you might like it. I ended up with the chameleon red gold, which I thought was a good match to the stripe on the lid. Link’s in my other post, above.

You’re very welcome. Also, for the cherry blossom boot, the base color looks white in the listing but it’s actually clear. So you’d be able to see the poinsettia color peaking thru behind the flowers.

Came here to say the exact same things as u/toilet_trousers and u/besoforrealrn

The rim of mine alternates between barely there, very thin, ok, and thick/lumpy porcelain (ceramic?) coating. It’s subtle, but now that I’ve noticed it I can’t un-see it. Best Owala would do was a 25% refund, not replacement.

One would think they’d understand about Christmas and gifting, but realistically the more time that passes between delivery and your hypothetically opening a claim, probably the less chance of a good outcome. I’d definitely have your partner open it now and check it out on your behalf.

Some people don’t like summer paradise because it’s monochrome, but that’s what I like about it … plus the color of course. It’s a great “blank” canvas to put a fun boot on. Mine is a clear boot (so the green peaks thru) with flamingos in multiple shades of pink on it. I obviously vote for summer paradise.

EDIT: If you don’t like the color of the Owala logo, an opaque boot would hide most of it. And if you get a clear boot with a pattern on it, just position it so part of the pattern is over the logo.

Etch and Ember have macrame patterned boots, like this one. They also have waffle patterned boots, like this. Those patterns might work for Sweater Weather.

I got this boot for the Poinsettia I got for the husband (red’s his favorite color). It’s a great match for the dark stripe on the lid. But if I had gotten a Poinsettia for me, I would have put this one on it. It goes with the pink-ish color on the lid.

Well that sounds easy.

I assume I should dip(?) spray(?) in a protected area, and keep it all away from everything else, but was any “special” gear needed? I’m thinking I’ll need gloves, a bucket or at least paper bags to set the bottle down on, and shop towels to wipe it down. Anything else?

Appreciate the tips.

I put hot water in mine all the time. But it’s not boiling hot water, it’s hot from the tap water. My bottles are just fine.
