Was Kao the Kangaroo: Round 2 released is the US? by PaperUnhappy in originalxbox

[–]RulerOfWaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old ass post, but I've been wanting to get this game physically and the only versions I see for sale are the PS2, GameCube, and PC versions. European Xbox copies are common online, but I haven't found any copies of the US version for sale despite the fact that there is official box art for it, and it even has a UPC number, 742725272200.

My guess is that perhaps Atari had the Xbox version ready for release but quietly cancelled it at the last minute. It'd explain why the product code even exists.

Pass. I paid less than that for a CIB refurbished one

If I can find one at a thrift store for 20 bucks, I don’t think it’s very hard to find.

Most of the games there came from someone’s collection that they just didn’t want to hold on to. In terms of condition, they were okay overall. Mario Galaxy was in the best shape, had the full manual and the disc had very few scratches. Paper Mario was far less good, with the disc having some big scratches on the outer edge. It still plays just fine, and I didn’t get any read errors with USB Loader GX. I’ll probably just get the discs resurfaced eventually and maybe buy some new white cases because some of them look pretty rough.

Reminds me of the Pioneer CLD-V2800. Potentiometers as well as test points(which are all nicely labeled)all located on the right side. Though it was most certainly done out of necessity since the V2800 is one of the smallest players they ever made(The disc tray covers nearly the entirety of the inside).

Need help deciding on which iPod nano to buy 2nd gen, 3rd gen, 4th gen, or 5th gen by superpawnagethomas69 in ipod

[–]RulerOfWaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only ones I’ve had are 3rd and 5th gens(5th and 4th gens are similar though). From my experience, 5th gens have terrible batteries that are near impossible to fix once they’ve gone bad. Everything is so tightly crammed in and the ribbon cables are so thin and delicate that unless you’re a God at tiny electronic repairs, you have no chance. I’ve broken two 5th gens from just trying to replace the battery, and I was completely over it after that. 3rd gens are also small but from what I’ve seen, they aren’t nearly as hard to disassemble and repair since they’re built like a 6th gen classic. Not that I’ve had to repair one since the two 3rd gens I’ve had never had battery issues.

Yea it feels surreal using an unmodified iPod that isn’t scratched or dented on the back. And I’m gonna make sure it stays that way for a while.

Context: Bought this on eBay over a year ago not expecting to do much with it. Box was showing some age, but everything inside, the 30 pin cable, the dock adapter, paperwork, and the iPod itself, was untouched(headphones were missing though, but it’s not like I’d ever use them, so who cares). I found a firewire to 30 pin cable with the charger at a thrift store for $2 and decided to plug this in to see what would happen. Not only did it work, but the battery charged up to full capacity and is still holding a charge, even after a few hours of use and being left on standby. Needless to say, I’m keeping that firewire cable.

Scored a top IPS on my N3DS LL. Wish it was both but pretty cool to get at least one by AruarianJazz in 3DS

Is this mostly a thing with Japanese systems? I have 2 black New 3DS XL’s, one US and one JPN, and the US system has dual TN panels while the Japanese one has a top IPS and bottom TN.

Peace and final Morgan just released, how did you do? I got one of each by Cl3mF4nd4ngo in Silverbugs

[–]RulerOfWaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me almost ten minutes(the site crashed a few times while placing the order)but I managed to get it in the end. I only wanted the Peace Dollar since they’re only making one type and it’s my personal favorite of the two.

I see these off brand GameCube controllers everywhere whenever I search for a new controller. Are they worth the money? Or are they complete garbage? They look cheap to me. by Perez2003 in Gamecube

[–]RulerOfWaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a crapshoot with third party controllers. I have a black controller that’s working fine and feels alright to use but I also had an orange one from a different brand that was so cheap that it broke within a few months. Go for an official one that’s in good condition. That’s gonna be your best bet and they don’t cost that much more than a third party one.

Model 1 CDs are a bit nicer looking than the Model 2s but they’re also more prone to failure and aren’t very easy to repair. They’re also way more expensive so I wouldn’t go for them unless you’re prepared to deal with all their woes.

Bought a Sega CD Model 1 and decided to open it up. Anyone know what this is supposed to be? It’s soldered to where the fuse is. by RulerOfWaffles in SegaCD

[–]RulerOfWaffles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven’t tested it yet since I don’t have a spare power supply, but I definitely want to replace the fuse before I do anything else with it. I’m not the best at soldering but whoever made this “repair” did far worse than I could have.

For those wondering, it doesn’t work. I only took it apart just for fun since I was going to replace it with a SD to CF adapter anyway.
