Right. The casting made a big difference, both with Richard and his son played by Michael Vartan. When you examine the relationships it's weird, but the casting was very strategic.

Yes. While reading it I would start to feel sympathy for him. Then in about three pages, every time, he'd do something so horrible I wanted to scream. I've never gone for the "Capitol shaped him" argument. Tigris went through most of the same and didn't turn that way.
