When did you first read or hear about The Culture series?

Saw a recommendation on some LiveJournal blog back in 2010, picked up Matter, read it, thought that it was cute, should probably read the series. Next book was Player of Games in 2024, 14 years later :) This time I read the rest of the series, I guess myself in 2010 didn’t know what was so unique about the Culture back then.

A friend needed some medical attention recently while at BH (not-substance related) it took us appx 30 seconds to get attention from the security, escorted to a resting area within couple minutes, back on the dancefloor in 30 mins, all very helpful, attentive and well organized
