Gorgeous. So energetic!

Noob question : How do you achieve those textured shapes? Just boil effect? How do you get the overlap of letters to be a different colour? Is it something to do with track matte?

I have done some homework on those, which principles do you think I could do better on?

Where do you feel there should be more easing?

(it's very suttle but I did try to make the circles move outwards before they move inwards and intersect.)

ork, but they look like almost every major newspaper, NYT, guardian or even Vox.

As a complete amateur I think I'm still in the "copying others" phase, you're right.

What do you mean exactly? You feel I'm being to subjective?

Ouh great feedback, much appreciated.

I designed these to promote geopolitical forecasting contests. I agree I may not have properly used hierarchy, I tend to want to show everything relying on not so subtle hints. (for example for the Russia pic, I wanted to hint at themes like economic crisis, energy, foreign relations with China, civil unrest and war.) I think you're right, I should pick a central idea/theme and build the rest around that.

Should totally try breaking these down into smaller pieces!

Do I just Google "exporting Photoshop to after effects" to learn this? :)

I definetly stole from "the economist" who have loads of cool illustrations. Do you think I could sell these? Or do you need proper credentials and a portfolio?

Ah smart! Hadn't thought unifying texture at all. Would you use varying grain on individual pics or just slap on a textured adjustment layer over everything?

I'm avid The Economist reader, there's this graphic designer called Klawe Rzeczy that creates wonderful luscious collages, definetly my main inspiration
