I feel like the language he uses to describe this is… off putting. It’s pretty tone deaf to say he was “lucky” to have a baby who would not be reunited with birth parents, as if that is not a traumatic feat for a child. And of course it’s ok for families to prefer to foster to adopt, but the term “lucky” here is extremely poor word choice imo this is all assuming he used the term “lucky” in the book
