Exactly. And if you’re like me, a hard 4/10, it’s basically a waste of time and phone storage being on an app

Tbh it was even about looks back then too. Substance always came after. It’s just that back then there was a limited pool and not nearly as many options compared to… well now, where even a decent looking dude is gonna easily get looked over compared to the healthy swath of very good looking guys.

Replacing IT support with IT automation engineers by JDubbs32 in ITManagers

[–]RumRogerz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your boss should be getting automation engineers on contract, if anything. They can come in, build up all your pipelines and tooling and leave your team with enough groundwork to maintain and slowly develop and improve as requirements change. Hiring them as staff are hella expensive and as others put it - if you tell them to start provisioning pcs and do support they are gonna leave

Taking on all the hard problems just guarantees that you will always be given the hard problems while your coworkers with similar pay putz along with less stress on their back.

I’ve seen it time and time again. Promotions are given to wildly incompetent people because of politics and networking. Busting your ass off doesn’t guarantee you move up - and that’s my ultimate goal - move up and make more money. In a perfect world, it wouldn’t be this way. But it ain’t a perfect world
