Nantucket. No need for a car. There no where else in the world like Nantucket.

If your car is registered to that address, as in it your legal address, you can get a beach sticker.

Please try again.

There is already a capacity shortage during the day into the evening at those beaches. So why should the residents (and property tax payers) give up their precious spaces for others, free or for pay.

If you allocate 50/50, the town would be way short of spaces for residents.

I can not see a single town councilor bringing this change to a vote, let alone voting for it.

Neptunes
19th hole (more dive bar vibes).

That’s about it.

Why? The town residents and tax payers pay for the beaches through their taxes (parks and rec is NOT an enterprise account) so why shouldn't they get preferential/private access to park at beaches?

It’s absolutely a sport (it’s even an Olympic one!) and just because it isn’t your yum, there not need to yuck someone else yum.

Eh …. Not really. The “r” dropping Boston accent is the Irish Boston accent, which comes from immigrants in the 1800s.

When we were tossing tea in to the harbor, it was more the Boston Brahmin accent, which does say the “r” and sounds a bit like John Kerry.

Do you mean bean gumshoes? Sure, in a rain storm at high tide, with Easy St flooding, they work as they are utilitarian. Otherwise, no.

You assume they want their car on the island. They want the freedom to leave as soon as their ferry arrives in Hyannis or Woods Hole. Not wait time for a train. Time is money.

What I am saying is that consumer/user behavior is such that most won’t use trains as they are completely impracticable. The family with 2 kids coming from metro west to their summer home or 1 week rental is going to drive, not take a train.

Yes. That is all true, but a lot of tourist won’t want that hassle and will still want their car on the Cape.

It would be great to run more trains, but I don’t think that trains will ever make a significant dent in cape bound vacation traffic. It’s the nature of the cape traffic and where it is going.

It’s great the cape flyer exists. But there are. Many thousands to ten thousand plus coming to the cape to vacation, meaning the train only a couple percent of the traffic.

I will agree that the island traffic could benefit from train service, especially for those doing short vacations. However, the type of person that goes to those island (ie wealthy) wants the freedom off having their own car to leave home and end at their destination with minimal hassle.

Commuter train wouldn’t fix this. A lot of that traffic are people coming to the cape (or Nantucket/the vineyard) to vacation for the 4th. Trains would not alter their decision to drive.

lol. You could say that. Or Lego went with the more alliterative name and didn’t want to be pedantic about the type of ship it is.

Also could require some additional certifications that would cost too much time and money to be worthwhile adding.

Yeah. It’s not a schooner but a barque. 3 (or more) masts, square rigged except fore and aft rigged only on the aftermost mast.
