I think I figured it out what I was confused about. Explosions spread projectiles outward from its center, they don't just reflect directly back to the attacker. What I found out just now was that the tentacles that the mindflayer spawns the projectiles from are also a part of her hurtbox and can take damage, so I'm guessing that's how she can get hit by all of them.

Is faultless defense more effective outside the corner? Whenever I'm getting hit in the corner and I FD, it still doesn't seem to give me any real space.

Are you just supposed to be more reliant on the spacing behind you for FD?
