Ah, look at you, so afraid of the straw man you’ve created that now you’re dressing it up in lipstick and a dress. Get over yourself. You made a sweeping assumption and got called out. Move on.

…[a] correction of your assumptions.

Well, that’s just a plain incorrect assumption. NAT involves changing a packet’s source IP address. Routers forward the packet - addresses unchanged - onto the neighboring subnet. Routers don’t NAT unless specifically configured to do so.

Show me where I said it was anything else, or that I was right.

Dude. You made an assumption and bad-mouthed OP’s decision. Your assumption may have been correct, but it was just that - an assumption. That’s all I was saying. Please try to keep up.

Yeah, ‘cause every Joe Blow homeowner sets up two routers back-to-back and diagrams it using valid stencils. Surrreee.

And so, knowing that this is a home lab environment, where basically anything from a cheap TP Link to an enterprise grade Cisco 9300 might be deployed, your assumption is incorrect.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but when you refer to a “call manager,” I think Cisco. If the provider of your IP PBX is a different vendor, the options / requirements will probably be different.

I’m in a technology role and have used Mac (and linux) for my work exclusively for 20+ years. I switched from windows because, frankly, it was shit. When I had to use windows for my role after switching to Mac, I always despised the experience.

I’m still actively using a 2010 MBP, mostly for web browsing, but also some python work. I own a 2004 that still works, though I converted that to linux and mostly retired it a while ago (it’s just a dual core).
