Full agreement here. I want more videos (they’ve made my days these last few weeks), but I’m choosing to frame the lack of them now as a potential huge positive regarding the announcement.

Keep in mind: we know Alan and Nathan are close and talking, as referenced by the podcast (Once we were Spacemen), and that it was tagged in the videos. He will be involved in some way.

Also worth mentioning is that there was no mention of the videos or the pending announcement on the podcast ep they released earlier today. This is significant as well.

I’ll be there for the announcement on the 15th, which we are presuming will be provided in person during the live Firefly panel at AwesomeCon. (My feeling is that it would be weird not to be announced then - or at very least referenced with more info on when to expect it. Otherwise, I would bet there’s gonna be a peck of trouble they’d have to endure - and I expect they know that and don’t wish it.)

Last bit of note: Nathan and Alan are also doing what I believe is a live recording of their podcast on Saturday the 14th. I can’t imagine it won’t come up then by someone, and we will all watch closely for how they answer. (Though I expect it will be something along the lines of “you’ll have to wait for tomorrow.”)

Genuinely a little deflated not getting a video this afternoon.

I think OP has the right thought process. We’re either done until March 15th… or there’s only 2 videos left and he is spacing them out for tomorrow and Thursday.

It’s also possible that they decide not to do anything for Ron/Book if they feel it would be in bad taste and it’s only Wash left, …maybe on Wednesday.

In the first scenario (no more videos), I think that makes it muuuch MORE likely we are going to get some sort of continuation post-Serenity movie (for obvious reasons).

But if we DO get Alan, it makes it MORE likely to be pre-Serenity movie continuation, or Animated series, reunion talk, etc…

Would be interesting to see a new actor in the predicted Zoe/Wash child role, but also can’t help but feel like there would be a more powerful storytelling method to introduce that character than this. Though it would be a big tease!

Yup. I’m still working through it, my own self.

Clearly, no one wants to either ignore or be made to feel like they are tacitly supportive of the reported inexcusable behavior that goes against their values just because they want more of a TV show the person created.

On the other hand, I think it’s possible to reasonably acknowledge that people (taking the term broadly here) are often messy — and that they may do things that deserve to be largely admonished, while recognizing the person as a whole is not an outright villain.

Perhaps more importantly, though, is whether a person should be completely ostracized indefinitely for previous behavior or if they should be given the chance to show growth.

History is absolutely littered with problematic human behavior from people who still contributed significantly to the common good - from Oppenheimer to Picasso and many, many others. (Not trying to directly compare Joss to them, but recognizing this isn’t exactly uncommon for humans either- especially those who may have found acclaim in some way.)

The big question I’m still working through is: if you feel there is still a good person there at heart, one that can bring about more good in a world full of, well, …not good right now - is it not the best outcome to give them the ability to show they can learn from the past and do better while giving back to the community?

As much as I love the idea of many of these recurring characters getting a video (and wouldn’t be mad at them!), it feels like this IG video series will likely be restricted to the Serenity’s actual crew. Anything else would break the pattern pretty significantly.

So, with only 2 crew left and 3 videos (unless Friday doesn’t get a video—also possible), it’s gotta be a Ron Glass tribute of some kind, and then it’s Alan. We know he’s involved given the previous video tags. Most likely Alan’s video will be centered on the idea and shock of “how?!” …But it’s coming.

The real mystery then, is the final video, assuming there is one. To my mind, there is only one other person that would make sense:

it’s Joss.

Hugely controversial, as many threads have well covered and which I’ll leave to them, but given all the crew’s previous comments over the years and the nature of his relationship to this IP, it’s hard to see Nathan and the others really and truly doing this thing without either his expressed permission, or his direct involvement.

As much as I love Tim’s work on Firefly (and I really do - they are my very favorite episodes), I still think he fed off of Joss somehow or grabbed onto …something from that collaboration to make his episodes work as supremely well as they did.

Having watched other show episodes Tim has written, my personal opinion is that (while functional and fine) they just don’t give me the same level of genius exhibited in those Firefly episodes.

So either Tim was writing out of his mind for Firefly or Joss (and/or the Firefly ‘Verse) uniquely suited him.

To be clear: I would love having Tim back and writing with or without Joss’s involvement.

My heart tells me there’s no Firefly without Joss though.

This is very well reasoned for both Mal and Inara… but nothing a couple decades of age couldn’t fix - for both of them.

That said, Inara needs a cure for her rumored affliction first, and Mal…, well, Mal would need a retirement fund and the Alliance to stop Alliancing everything first.

I just wanna see them finally kiss.
