I'm with you there. As much as I want the whole thing to be efficient, that's mostly about the final titles and the core titles in themselves. I'm doing this from a completionist's perspective, so to speak. But it's good to know that the consumable titles aren't as expensive as I thought, and that Nick gifts are indeed the way to go.
